- In this video I take a look at the TurboTenna by Danets. A Yagi antenna sold by many resellers on Ebay and Amazon, with a price tag around £70 to £90. So is it worth the money? And is it as powerful as they claim?

The number of AP's it can see has nothing to do with how well it works. The fresnel zone for a Yagi is hyper directional, and thus will pick up any AP's in that zone. If you were to use a giant omni directional antenna, you would pick up every AP in a quarter mile, but what does that prove, the SNR would be low to each of them. A real measurement would be SNR to a remote access point that does not use a yagi in return. Then run a few speed tests through that AP. Thanks for taking apart though, I am actually impressed with how well they are built,.
I would really enjoy a video showing how to modify a cheap 2.4 ghz eBay yagi to out perform that turbotenna.

Just love it when all the hype about a product is proven to be spin. You should send one of your BiQuadYagis, or even the cardboard yagi, to the Gadget Show and invite them to re-run their test, better still, take a quick trip to the big smoke and replicate their experiment. Five Gees!!

those tests are horrendiss how many access points are coming in from other directions. also those blinds are blocking rf. and multiple reflections. it would be good if you could test properly. outside in the clear. and signal strength of 1 signal
All these seem to preform same in my experience ..from the £13 to £90 ..makes no difference

Tried one today. I am not impressed, received less signals than my Alfa card and they were only marginally more powerful, marginally. It was like a child's toy frankly. Vastly overpriced and overrated. And this was the newer version. It was impossible to connect to any signal except my own.

also the turbotenna would pick up "more" Ap's because it has a wider beamwidth considering its shorter? I got good results from making a yagi out of craft sticks and paperclips lol
+erik61801 Yes you are correct it is wider and as such may pick up more in a static position. It is just the bull they come out with using dBm and not dBi and saying the USB is 2200mw when it is not.
+andew mcneil , yuppers! and it'd been nice to see how it works with an actual modest typical 1000mw card, about 250% more power but still not half of the claimed 2200mw.
