Love your videos. Very informative. Easy to follow and understand. Technically accurate. Well-spoken and not excessively wordy (like other videos I've seen).
    Thank you!

I've built one in the last few days. Because I will buy this antenna after my summer job and because I have no etching skills, I have decided to use other techniques to satisfy my anticipation for a genuine one. I printed the boards to hold the elements and cut out the elements from a large copper tape and glued them onto the boards.
It took me nearly four days to make the dimensions, cutouts and gluing as accurate as possible.
I think the work was worthwhile, because I have a new problem with this antenna design: Airodump-ng shows so many wifi networks unknown to me, that my LCD monitor is too small to display them at all. Therefore, I had to put my monitor in the settings on upright.
What a great job from you. I can not wait to hold a real LR-Biquad-Yagi in my hands.
Thank you very much again, that's so many fun for me.

I played (and yes playing, because it is fun) with my “Long Range Biquad Yagi for poor men's". I tested some things out, for example the angles of the reflector and if steel screws made any difference. I was really unhappy with my long nylon screws. There are to wobbly and bending under the weight. I can't measure any difference on the case I would use this antenna for.
My conclusion is: This is not just a perfect antenna for long range. There is also great in midrange and for thick walls. I love it and it is a beauty too ( not mine). And a wardriver will love it too ( I find with it really in 2018 3 WEP encrypted wifi networks in my neighborhood).

Go for the kickstarter Andrew, I and I'm sure many others will be in, where do we sign up?
The forum is also a great idea. I've been using your standard biquad yagi for 2.4 fpv video on my quadcopter out to around 1 mile, so would be great to see if I could get even further with this improved design.
Well done and keep up the great work.

The reason there hasn't been a successful "Antenna" kick starter is very simple Andrew...because YOU haven't done one yet!!!! You sir are the absolute authority on WiFi antennas ON THE INTERNET (or anywhere else for that matter)...I know of no one else nor any other company I would trust more than you regarding antenna designs. I love attempting to build your designs but I would absolutely jump on your kickstarter in a minute, so go for it, if anyone can do it, it will be you!

I tried building this antenna and connected it directly to a router to make it a long range repeater. Somehow the small parasitic elements seemed to choke the signal once I removed them i managed to get it working and picked up a signal from 70-90m away (but in a line of sight) once there was an obstacle like a wall or a window or annything really it lost like aprox 30-40% range. It was a difficult one to make since the difference between 1 element to the next is 1mm but managed to pull it off and get a working thing. Great work Andrew and thank you for your video

Thank you for yet another excellent instructional video, Andrew! I've
tried out a lot of the different antenna designs you've shown how to
make and have been getting better at it. I don't have your skill or
equipment but some of the ones I've made more recently have been giving
me a pretty good gain/range increase so thank you very much for all the
information! Have you thought about a 2.4Ghz curtain antenna? I found a
couple designs and made a bending template (a trick I picked up from
you) for the length used and have started making one. If you like I can
find the design for you, I figured you might be interested in one which
from what I've read seems to be massively scalable.

Firstly the quality of your tutorials are second to none Andrew Just superb ,I'm building one Long range Biquad my self , One thing i'm sure many here think they can build one and point it at a free hot spot or unsecured WiFi ect , and enjoy free internet access , wrong ! as unauthorized access even using free hot spots with out going into the premises physically will land you the wrong side of the Law,and end up in Court sorry about the spoiler check out UK laws and real cases .

i have a pepperbox from ibcrazy and that cost me over $130 ( great antenna, works with linear and circular )
so if this have similar performance the price is right Andrew.
    i would get one!
also why giving the specs out like that when there are people making money on your design already

I was actually waiting in serious anticipation for this video, and I'm so happy it came, excellent work Andrew! I've been thinking a lot about this product and quite frankly I think the only things that prevent this product from selling like hot cakes is the reflector is perhaps slightly too large physically for some customers, there is no protective chassis to prevent rainwater and bird poop from shorting the antenna, and strong winds from warping it, and most important of all, the connector could still be too fragile. I'm not sure what the appropriate way to solve it is, do you think you should also sell a custom casing that houses the alfa card and this Long Range Biquad Yagi 2 4GHz and has a gasketed, water-proof USB cord? What do you think of alternatives to the alfa card by the way, since in the end the combination of antenna and electronics is what counts? I'm impressed by your work and you're probably just a few steps away of having a super desirable product that everyone should get in this WiFi age we are in!

Hi Andrew, is the driven element measurement taken from the inside edge of the square or the outside. I am probably looking at this incorrectly but, if you were to form a 31.5 mm square using 1mm wire and then measure the outer edges then it would come to 31.5mm + 2x1 mm (thickness of the wire) to give an outside of 33.5mm. Kind regards, Andy

You have certainly done a tremendous job in evaluating a variety of antennas and their designs. Your designs are fantastic! What would be interesting to me is estimating the gain of each antenna in dBd since it seems the gain figures in dBi are a bit far fetched
and meaningless. I've contacted a few mfgrs of microwave fixed pad attenuators to see
if they'd supply SMA-RP Male and Female on 3, 6 & 10 dB. These could be inserted 'in
and out' directly at the antenna you're are measuring/evaluating. If you also established a reference with a dipole at the fixed distance one could have some good data. If we subtract 2.15 db from the dBi figures currently floated about it is obvious to me many gains are fiction. Vistumbler is fine to compare performance of a couple antennas but meaningless when one wishes to compare gains on many you have tested. Byron WU2J

Its directional so maybe on your Tx so you would be able to point it at your Phantom (it would totally work though, 2.4 is 2.4 :-) ) or better yet ... if you have ever seen those antenna trackers it would be perfect (especially with diversity capability one for short range and this baby for the extended flights).

I made one, it looks really great, but perform much more modest than standard alfa's dipole. Its sad, coz i spend some time on it. I think its really important to know theory behind that to be sure that you didn't made any mistake. You can see my version on tags #andrewmcneil #biquadyagi in instagram(or google). Why would anyone want a long range antenna? Is there some reason for that to be a desirable thing in the U.K.? Here in the 'States people only use Wi-Fi inside their house or at work or school so you want short range that doesn't go outside the building or else you will be interfering with the neighbors.
