- Combining a Cheap Antenna and Nano Router
In this video I turn a next to useless Chinese eBay antenna into a more useful router with two omnidirectional dipoles and a directional biquad.

Very cool video, I agree with the rest, you have very excellent communication skills.
Another GREAT video by andrew. He knows what he is doing. This guy is a PRO! i wish i had one of those antennas :(
Great job. Love to see you mod your PCB and make antenna mods. Maybe someday I'll get the guts to mod one too.
+Andrew Hofmann Thanks Andrew
Is there any possibility that you have a link to purchase the router you used in this video?
Does the copper tube have to be a certain length? & what does the copper tube do, does it direct away from the antenna end any stray signals it has picked up on the braid through the length of the cable?
+Ray HSETWO The tube is very important it acts as a balun and impedance matching and allows the whole antenna to be a shorter wavelength at 25mm it's called a bottom fed dipole, short dipole or Hertzian dipole. Without it you would have a monopole and have to use a wavelength of 31mm.
So, have wires sticking out of antenna holes, then suddenly the antennas are already put on. How are they connected?
+A Beck The wifi card that was inside the antenna is not suitable to have 3 antennas connected to it they had soldered all three coax just to the ground plane in one big mess
Hi there. Im just getting into drones and im using a 5.8ghz transmission system and I want to get a little more range. Currently lose connection at 900m in line of sight and was thinking of getting a patch antenna, any recommendations if i even make any sense haha thanks.
+flowmaster728 what antennas are you having at the moment?
+sleepyduck im using just a generic 200mW 5.8ghz transmitter and reciever with clover leaf antenna's at the moment.
+flowmaster728 You'll want a patch antenna with polarization to match your transmit antenna, I use an Immersion 13dbi gain LHCP antenna and it more than doubled my range ( I say more since I've flown twice the usual distance with no video breakup at all). I use a diversity receiver so I use the patch on one port and clover on the other for when I am closer in, and keep the patch antenna aimed downrange where I fly.
u r genius man...ive seen your video...its really difficult to find pigtail here....can u teach me how to build long range wifi antenna only with household stuff, such copper wire, biscuit can, or even a condom??? no...no the last one only joke
Still room to put some battery on it
i have a pinhole camera in my fake router..hehehehe...
