Ruud needs to learn he cant play grindy style all the time, he needs to be aggresive
I thought he did, he attacked with his forehand most shots. I thought Norrie played well, he was the better attacker though.
Ruud was fairly aggressive, and has been throughout 2024 so far. Just didn’t return well, played the break points incredibly poorly and had a couple of shocking service games, but he didn’t play too badly or too passively, these are just highlights after all, plenty of points where Ruud dominated too. Norrie was just lethal with the inside in forehand and the net approach to Caspers backhand
He‘s spending too much energy for Spin on Hardcourts.
Need‘s to go more through the ball!
Agassi did that in perfection.
Agreed. Too much spin. He can generate so much pace on the forehand, he needs to use it more.
@@vinceventura2393 thats a complete different player. Agassi took the ball early which is a complete different technique...
Norrie seems to have made some all round improvements including confidence.
Aggressive Norrie doesn't show up very often but when it does he is a dangerous, dangerous player. Make no mistake. It should show up more. This play combined with his fitness an stamina that is right up there with anyone. Is a very tough match for anyone!
I'm hoping for a Norrie vs Alcaraz QF but Zverev will be very hard to beat for Norrie even when he is playing so aggresive like against Ruud . But I keep my fingers crossed
@@peaceofiona9198 To have a chance against Zverev same Norrie needs to show up that's true.
Loving Norrie’s forays to the net, so solid and effective.
This is something I feel he has introduced recently I never saw him coming in so effectively. He would often stay back even on good shots that forces opponents which always let them back into the rally because his ground strokes aren’t as powerful as others
@@sofpsocf …together with his flat backhand it works very well…he also is playing more aggressive from the back of the court too. Showing his top ten form again after a few months of less successful tournaments.
Norrie played well, congratulations
Cam brought grass court tennis in Australia and is looking good. Didn't know he had such good hands. Kudos to him.
The backhand looks improved too by taking the ball early.
As a lefty he had the advantage on Ruud weaker backhand.
Just a shame that the media will be talking more about Raducanu than paying attention to Norrie's achievements. He's playing extremely well.
The BBC coverage of tennis is dreadful. Sometimes they don't even report things if its not Raducanu or Murray. They seem to have an odd view of tennis supporters
Completely agree - coverage of Raducanu is way out of proportion to her recent performance on the circuit.
@@adrianhudson1116 BBC has a pretty strong agenda for what it promotes in sports and Norrie does not fit in it.
Who is Norrie?
Радукану даже не заслуживает этого...посредственная теннисистка до сих пор непонятно как она юсоупен выиграла после которого ничего больше и не показала...абсолютно ничего!
Ruud is having a Dominic Thiem era. Cam holding the flag for the shambles that is British Tennis, well done Norrie.
South African* lol
@theyruinedyoutubeagasouth Africa is British learn history

Best I’ve seen Norrie play for some time. I was a little worried for him after he lost the second set tie break, but he charged back in sets three and four playing ultra aggressive tennis and commanding the net. I hope he can take that confidence into next week.
Wow… what a great performance by Mr Norrie. Superb in all areas. Very aggressive from start to finish. Well done! 👏
Ему до мистера как до луны ....🤗
First of all, really really positive week for Ruud. He might have lost here against a very in-form Norrie, but this Ruud looks better than last year. Good and reliable backhand, a better serve than last year, more pumping mentally after winning sets, more net approach (even if he could use way more variety). The accuracy of his shots could be even higher if he works on that. But overall great! Great repect to Norrie for winning this :)
Nah come on, how is this positive? He lost in the third round to someone ranked lower than him and he looked helpless at times. Remember that this is someone who has made a slam final and was very close to becoming world #1.
@@bananatree1234567progres,he never made it past round 2 in AO step by step he will be better,he just need to work on his mental in style outside of clay courts and ve more agressive
@@bananatree1234567 yes, but he admitted as such that the 2022 run was surprising for him to get to that stage, something he did not expect from himself and that is not the normal development of a player, it was more of a sudden surge. In 2023 he took a dip, but if you watch him regularly, you can see he is digging himself out and progressing. If you also watch tennis and play tennis, you know that playing against anyone in the top 500 in the world is no joke and even more if that player is called Cameron Norrie. He is a very good and consistent player with a career high of no. 8 in 2022 and currently 22 in the world. If you think that anyone a few ranks above cannot or should not loose against players that are ranked below, then think again...that is not how the sports work. Everybody in the top 1000 in the world is professional, and the more you go up the ladder, the more things are decided by fine margins. What this guys are doing might look easy and sometimes easy to judge on, but being where they are and doing it on a day in-day out basis is something truly incredible.
@@bananatree1234567 Norrie has made a slam semi final and won a masters, also been in the top ten. Currant rankings have no bearing on the outcome of this match when starting the season
Ruud cant do enough with that backhand of his
Great net points by Norrie…
Bravo Highlights..
Great Attacking Play With Excellent Net Finishes..
I feel so sorry for Ruud's downfall. Losing 3 Slam's finals must have been tremendous for him. He not the same since then. I agree with @kingston4313, he needs to be more aggressive and vary the shot options.
Thank you for the video. What a great result. Fingers crossed for next match.
Epic from Norrie! To beat a grinder like Rudd with better tennis was a treat to watch.
It was played on Norrie's terms - he turned it into a battle at the net where he was better.
I cant belive this guy played 3 GS finals in last two years....Dark Era of tennis...☠️
Well played Cameron 👏👏👏🇬🇧
What a performance! Cmon Cameron!🇬🇧
Probably the best match of Norrie's career. He would have beaten almost anyone with that performance.
Solid job from net by Norrie, indeed!
I've always found Norrie's net play to be below par but, today, with added aggression in the lead ups, he did a magnificent job. Well done
In some of the rallies, Norrie's backhand reminded me a bit of the great Jimmy Connors... flat lefty backhand, taken on the rise.. ;-)
What a match
Monster Cam 😮 Great switch for Murray!
?
Good win for Cameron. 👍
Norrie is quick god damn
Masterclass
*Norrie looked so much more comfortable closer to home*
Poor Ruud, like I had observed, he just overachieved in 2022, played some matches of his life and had some good draws. He's just another Reiner Schlutter kind of guy, one amazing year and is just going to fade into obscurity where he really belongs.
Top level
I've seen some Jimbo doble hands deep backhand here, wow
High class.
Ruud doesn't simply have enough weapons for the biggest prizes these days
Impressive Norie !
The best Norrie I have ever seen.
This is the best I have seen from a British player . Since Andy Murray was playing at his highest level.
Yaaay!!!!👋👋👋👋👋well done Norrie👍
Beautiful Norrie!!!
This was the battle of players with great forehands but weaker backhand
Too much Topspin from Ruud on both sides! Disadvantageous when playing on Hardcourts.
Almost every approach shot Cam made was to his backhand, the whole tour is aware of how Ruud needs to improve that backhand except him it seems 😅
Well done Norrie - he was in the zone. Casper served well and played well in parts of the match. Casper had some great running passing shots but his passing game overall was subpar; high balls in the middle of the court were easy pickings. Shame to see all those break points not converted. But Casper's main problem here was Norrie being on fire.
Was gonna comment on those passing shots...club level at best. Hoping the other guy will mess up the volley.
Every era has its David Ferrers
Ruud made Norrie look like peak Federer at the net with his poor passing shots
Norrie absolutely deserved the win. Ruud needs to learn to flatten out his forehands. He just doesn’t have put-away power right now.
It's all topspin, and against someone as quick as Norrie is that means the ball always coming back. Ruud was lucky to get a set frankly. Especially with the form Norrie has right now
8:27 no way bro said it 😭😭😭😭
It is not cool to put an image of the winner in the thumbnail, why does @Eurosport Tennis keep doing that ??
LETS GO CAM
Ruud was playing so loose and aggressive in the United Cup just weeks ago. What happened?
Зверюга просто
7:02 Pete Sampras approved 🚀
Ruud: learn the Federer slice back hand ASAP
The levels have risen, now everyone hits hard, even the strongest have to sweat to win.
One of these players who is noting outside of clay.
Great win for stiff backhand
Ruud still doesn't have a punch, although he improved the last years it's still not enough. His length is just too short!
Anytime Norrie got Ruud into a cross-court rally on his forehand, I had the feeling it was gonna go his way. Ruud doesn't have consistent depth and power on his BH and can't change the direction to the line effectively, so that is something he has to work on.
its simple
hardcourt is aggresive
clay-gravel is defensive.
Why are these the first extended highlights of the day? There were many matches before this one!! I want to see Kecmanovic!
Norries best shot ist by far that flatt backhand, ruud too often tried to come forward or apply pression on that side wich is a costly mistake against norrie. But anyway great level by the britt 🎉
Wish they didnt put a spoiler in every highlights thumbnail
If it's not RG or the US Open, Ruud, well... ; )
Never seen Norrie at the net so often.
Ruud did nothing wrong, but that's the issue, he did not attempt to do something wrong/different/creative. You can be a defensive player and a good one at it too, but in some matches you just need to let go and play for the kill. I understand it's not easy to do, he might have calculated "I'll extenuate Norrie's resources, ha can't be this aggressive and successful for 5 sets", but then, the fourth set you want to avoid the middle of the court, go for passing shots, mix-up, etc.
Ruud needs to learn that for someone as quick as Norrie is around the court, playing most of his shots with topspin won't get him the win. Granted here we seen a much more aggressive Norrie, which was beautiful to watch, but still, the point stands
How on Earth did I find myself in a comments section with two gentlemen that will never win a Grand Slam is beyond me
norrie wins the award ugliest groundstrokes on the mens top 20
That backhand 💀
I’d rather play like that and be in the 4th round than an overrated bum who can’t get past the 4th round or in some players case, the first round before they lose to an Indian farmer.
Have you even watched Shelton? Gtfo
@@Stu49583I actually marvel at the backhand. It looks like it shouldn't generate anywhere near as much pace as it does yet the ball flies away. It's a very good shot.... May not be pretty, but it works, like that ugly Lasso thing Nadal does
@@sdstewart87 i have his strokes are about 2x more technical. I dont like shelton either
Norrie played really well but his game and current form was made to look much better than it actually is, simply because of Rude's lack of agression, depth and poor movement. His head is not in the game at the moment, and it's very clear to see. Norrie would be wise not to get too over confident with this win.
Rudd left his brain somewhere else , it wasn’t on the court for sure.
Ruud ,al no tener un golpe ganador tiene que ser más agresivo
I said some time ago, after Ruud had his great seasons with two RG finals in a row and one US final, and other impressive results, that he will never reach finals again. Am not a hater, I actually like him, but just don’t see that winner mentality in him and quality in his game to level up. Hope he proves me wrong
Norrie had a game plan that worked. Ruud didnt.
Ruud should have just kept going to Norries backhand
Actually today was not Scam Norrie !
Норри подчеркнул все недостатки и беззубость тенниса Рууда, ничего не меняет Норвежец, естественно с такой игрой рассчитывать на результат глупо.
Ruud needs new coach, his rank 11... ((
Norie has strange way shot, especially backhand...
I think Capers should contemplate racquet change. His shots are too vanilla now. I know he enjoys the control but it's just not working against the better opposition.
Does Capers play pickleball?
@@christopherbentley7289 Yeah. Should change his strings more often, too .)
Ruuds Beckhand is Way to defensive.
At points it is embarrassing to watch.
Really don't like norrie's technic or gestures
Ruud never risks any shot, he is very predictable, so when he play vs a player who risks a little more, he has a very bad time there
Ruud cannot play mid court balls so much time with spin
I like Ruud - seems a really nice guy (not Ruud at all...;0). However, he's a pusher and, it doesn't serve him well. Needs to up the aggression.
Il commence à peine à comprendre ruud.
Даже не удивлён...Рууд на этом австралиан слабо выглядел и проиграл сопернику который ну точно не сильнее, а как по мне слабее гораздо!
bruh i love ruud and hate norrie! so undeserved
Have you even watched the match? In last two sets Norrie almost blew Casper away from the court.
Norrie is better playing at net.
Norrie is the biggest loss from New Zealand Sport in her history. They wouldn't give him a few thousand dollars for coaching because he "wasn't kiwi enough"
Рууд мальчик для битья
Norrie has probably the worst looking backhand of any pro player i have ever seen on tour but he still manages to do more than ok
Ruud couldn't win, 98% of his balls were in the middle of the court.... Not enough aggressive...
1) Eurosport could you please STOP showing the winner in advance? Bunch of idiots. 😾 2) Norrie proves once again that pure baseliners suck sooner or later 👊🏼✊🏽🔥⚡️
Why does Ruud hit so many "nadal forehands" ? obviously hes not nadal, these shots do not have neither enough spin or depth, Norrie was attacking half of them, so why keep using so many of these defensive shit shots ?
first ! Love Ruud!!
Ruud bull shat
Pourquoi ces pseudos supporters huaient Ruud ? Il n’y a pas plus fair play que lui , contrairement à Norrie le tricheur ( pas sur ce match je ne l’ai pas vu)
Ruud played like he was an amateur ..that's why Chuck norrie won..next game he is out..lousy player
