It's great to see a new Hammerwatch game! I enjoyed the first one well enough, but the additional incentive to build up your town and see progress outside of the dungeon is just that much better. :)
ROFL...I punched the play button, not realizing the Tuber, then the funniest thing happened. I recognized the author's sense of humor and looked down at the name. Wow! You always deliver a powerful video...even something as archaic as HoH, you manage to make it seem relevant. "I like learning, I just don't like being taught" -SplatterCat
Dude, the orange thingie was an... orange. It could have healed you way more than an apple. I thought you played Hammerwatch before ?! Super stocked to see that a new Hammerwatch is on the rails !!! I spent countless hours on the first one playing online multiplayer. It was DOPE !!!!
All my time playing hammerwatch I've assumed that was a pumpkin, because pumpkins are larger and thus would offer more nutrition, It makes a crunch sound when you eat it(oranges don't crunch). Oranges didn't make sense for me because they're roughly the same size as apples, so they should've been depicted as smaller. + I can't seem to believe oranges would fit in a medieval European-like designed town/mines/dungeons. Pumpkins on the other hand would not spoil quickly, and they would fit right in. But then again, logic not to be applied in games sometimes.
Europe had oranges in the medieval period. They were bred in China and India and brought along with the spice routes over the ocean and the Silk Road. :P
Oh, I forgot to add... That's what the medieval sailors and pirates used to avoid getting scruvy :P So it was a big fruit back then hehe Don't forget the pirates! *flails arms dramatically* LOL!
Couldn't hit the like button quicker if I tried i love it Splatt!!! Oh also at 16:01 in the video there is a large crack in the wall, just in front of you behind the torch, by any chance could it be a secret room? Or is it simply a design in the stone? I'm unsure but it may be worth keeping an eye out for another and giving it a shot ? Hope i'm right haha !!
When you were talking about the directional attacks, you were partly right. The other characters get different attack hitboxes if they a maintaining the same rules as the first game. The Knight/Paladin did have a "pie slice" area for his sword slash. The Warlock's dagger just doesn't have that capability.
Would love to get this thing, guess i have to wait til march though - (would love it even more if you contacted @Wanderbots & set up a multiplayer up with him, he has it along with a few of his friends)
I'm starting to think Splat liked the name Jorge-De-La-Selva a whole lot more than he originally let on, heh. Game looks pretty fun, that's for sure. Would you say it lives up to the reputation the first Hammerwatch left?
by local you mean LAN? or playing on same computer? If you want to play on the same computer, I it's not possible, since the game works very similarly to games like World of Warcraft, where you have a character list you select from , unlike in old hammerwatch, where you could, since chars were more generically defined.
Man, you see, there is one problem with that, from a gameplay perspective, it would ruin the whole balance. Items in this game act more as individual playthrough modifiers, than actual equipment, and serve the purpose of shifting your playstyle in order to make the most of the situation. If you kept items on death, not only would you quickly exhaust the long albeit limited amount of items available(since there are no generic randomized items) leaving the game with no option but to not give you items anymore past that point, but it would totally bust the progression and meaningfulness of the game. I can tell you right now, some items have really powerful set interactions. If you would have them from the get-go on a new run, you'd mop the floor with everything. The whole point of losing items on death is to make you feel something new in a relatively repetitive game.
I agree, but I guess that's what makes rogue style games. I think if there was a good levelling mechanic and diff level mobs then it would stop you mopping the floor with everything if you were able to keep the good loot on death.
This is more like diablo than a rogue like, honestly. XP and gold make you massively stronger and you still have to make permanent choices with your skill points from level up, and gold at the blacksmith, apothecary and magic shop.
Honestly, the normal game and NG+1 I feel are mostly like warmups for when you get to NG+3 playthroughs and onwards. At that point you have all upgrades and all skills unlocked. XP doesn't do almost anything at that point, and gold is not an issue since you can afford everything from shops you come across, maybe except those on first floor. The only choice that really affects your char at that point is the blessings at the chapel.
believe it or not, you can mop the floor with warlock from about the beginning of the game, if you invest in skills properly( and by that I mean DON'T put anything in chain lightning, invest everything in Gargoyle and Mana/kill, maybe a few points in dagger). As soon as you get the gargoyle skill, you can easily beat past boss 2 and reach bosses 3 (albeit you'd reach mana issues there)
The game is using most of the same assets but the gameplay is completely different with procedurally generated maps and new bosses. I think it's very different than hammerwatch due to the fact that there's a lot of replayability and new content later on that you find with even NG+
Tbh, I'm glad they reused assets, because it really feels like a Hamnerwatch. By making a rogue-lite out of it, they changed enough to be distinctively different, yet the reused assets bring back good memories.
"I need more abilities!" ~Buys blacksmith upgrade instead of the one that allows unlocking more skills~ *facepalm* Love you Splatt xD
"Enchilada, a close friend of mine"
Hahaha fur real he said enchilada 😂

I'd hate it if bugs announced themselves before landing on me. That shit would be terrifying.

I hear "We'll check out the melee characters next time" and I am immediately happy to hear there's going to be another episode.

I think splat might have been hungry making this video. Enchilada spotted at 2:30 instead of elianda xD
Oh wow, they made a sequel!? Now I need to get this! :D
Excellent thanks Splatt
I would definitely watch you play more of this!
The diamond is just worth a bunch of cash, Splat. I saw the counter jump up by ~150 when you picked it up.
I facepalm everytime you walk pass the ORANGE and not eating it for HP
Awesome episode Splatt. This seems like a cool little game.
Khazrath sounds like a Dwarf name too but when i play a Dwarf Warlock i go with Dwarlock
Door lock?
Would love to get this thing, guess i have to wait til march though - (would love it even more if you contacted @Wanderbots & set up a multiplayer up with him, he has it along with a few of his friends)

Hey splatt did you know there are two DLCs for Guild of dungeoneering?
SplatterCat "Enchilada, a close friend of mine...." IT'S ELIANDA!!! Eating to much Mexican food lately?? Lmfao
I'm starting to think Splat liked the name Jorge-De-La-Selva a whole lot more than he originally let on, heh.

I do like it . Plz do more of the is game
I'm likin this game so far. Would love to see some other characters
This is a modern Azure Dream (PS1) style game
The button on the wall at 12:00 though...
I thought the "O" in Heroes was a "C" so I thought it said "HERCES"
Is this easier than Enter the Gungeon?
Looks like your supposed to play it with a controller.
I find using a mouse is a lot better. Especially with the added crosshair!
You should check out a game called Last Epoch. It is a complex ARPG in the vein of Diablo 2 and Path of Exile.
Does this have local multiplayer?
by local you mean LAN? or playing on same computer? I wish these cool looking games didn't have the 'rogue' element (so many do). I would buy it if you kept loot/items on death
Man, you see, there is one problem with that, from a gameplay perspective, it would ruin the whole balance. MOAR PLS!!!
Diamond goes to gold pool
You started typing kazarath and part of me thought it would say kazakstan XD
*KAZAKSTAN KAZSKSTAN YOU VERY NICE PLACE*
Do a series pls
I like it
Comment and like for comments' and likes' sake.
16:32 Does anybody have any recommendations for a decent game like that? Or like a list maybe? That's sounding pretty good right now.
Rogue Legacy is probably the best example. Dungeonmans if you like turn-based combat. Darkest Dungeon if you like the idea of side-scrolling X-COM.
need more
Mooooaaaaarrrrr
Still waiting for the next subnautica episode
Can I play the beta now?
The beta is closed and they are no longer looking for beta testers sadly.
Yeah 1 of the first to say awsome content splat
Too bad you took a Warlock. Seems like an end game character. Shouldve went for the basics.
believe it or not, you can mop the floor with warlock from about the beginning of the game, if you invest in skills properly( and by that I mean DON'T put anything in chain lightning, invest everything in Gargoyle and Mana/kill, maybe a few points in dagger). 14:47...LOOOL
Ha... If there is a next time. Every time I get into a game splat never continues episodes on it.... Aka children of morta.... :(
Do another series on stranded deep
So many negative reviews on steam :\
its just hammerwatch with a new name kind of sucks they just copy pasted

You mean copy and paste like all call of duties
Game looks fun but the music is so bad its not even funny.
Oof
