A friend of mine who is REALLY into Harley-Davidson motorcycles once asked me how I can afford all the guns I own. I just looked at him and said "Are you serious?". Everyone has their hobbies and as long as you're paying your bills and taking care of your family there's nothing wrong with splurging every once and a while. Nice Ed Brown.👍

Another fine review. I see zero snob attitude from you about the guns you own and don't feel you need to explain your choices to people who show jealousy over your pistols. Good shooting, by the way. Thanks for the video.

You don’t need to justify why you purchased it, when and how much. A lot of people don’t get it and just want to troll because they either don’t see the value or can’t afford it. That’s a fantastic gun!
The hole under the thumb safety also drives me nuts. Happens when you fit an aggressive grip safety on a GI spec gun but if Ed Brown makes their own frames then that’s laziness on their part because they can compensate for this I would think but I could be wrong.

I own basically the same Ed Brown...the Kobra Carry. The only difference I can see is the snakeskin checkering rather than the chain-link. I paid about $2300 for it back in the day. I also own several other high-end 1911s and the Ed Brown is my EDC favorite. I've carried it daily and shot it weekly for almost ten years and it is 100% reliable and still accurate as hell.
I agree with the exposed tiny gap when the safety is engaged. I complained to EB right after I got mine and I was told that was because it has such a high grip. Like you, I said okay...but it shouldn't be there! They were adamant that it was just fine. I learned to live with this one small imperfection because, other than that, the pistol is as near perfect as a pistol gets.
It is, IMHO, worth every penny of its current price.

I never owned a high end 1911, was afraid there would be a flaw and for that money I would expect perfection. If I did get one it would be a Les Baer. You have great taste in guns and you're doing a great job.

Thanks man. I love Les Baer.

I've owned them all...and Les Brown, while good, is at the bottom of my list of high-end 1911s. Wilson Combats are incredible. Ed Browns rule. Nghthawk Customes are very good. Les Baers are much more finicky and too tightly fit (he leaves the end-user to do the final fit by "breaking it in" with 500 rounds). The others run with 100% reliability right out of the box.

Beautiful 1911 Matt. Agree when dropping that kind of coin on a firearm, it ought to be better than perfect. Also it's not anyone's place to poo poo on what you or any of us spend on a gun. It's your money, my money and the good folks that watch your videos money. Some people are just going to bitch no matter what.

Oops. Forgot to ask you something. With the Les Baers, Ed Brown, Nighthawk and whatever other high end 1911's, are the guns built by one guy or do several guys have a hand in putting one of these together? Great video once again Matt!

Depends on the company. I know Nighthawk has one gunsmith build the whole gun and Les Baer has multiple people do different things on each gun.

I've had bad experiences with Ed Brown. I bought a EB 1911 and it had cosmetic damage because they shipped the gun with a loose magazine rolling around in the cloth bag with the pistol. The magazine marked up the slide and frame. I was able to return that gun and get this -- it happened two more times. Each gun had the same cosmetic damage because they shipped the guns with a loose magazine in the cloth bag. It was ridiculous. I couldn't believe it. Three times total. A gun manufacturer who makes $3000 handguns should NOT be making this rookie mistake -- THREE times in a row! I finally got a hold of customer service at Ed Brown and they couldn't care less. I spoke to a senior person and he didn't care at all and refused to make it right. Thankfully, I placed the orders with Buds and the three separate returns were accepted. I'll never buy Ed Brown again.

My Special Forces II has a huge scratch on the slide because of a loose magazine in the pouch. So I feel your pain. Ed Brown didn’t do it though I did. But it is an Ed Brown range bag and that bag does not hold the magazines very tight allowing them to bounce around and scratch the gun. I have heard horror stories about Ed Brown’s customer service and this is just another in a long list. I don’t ever plan on buying another one of their products.

@@wyominggunprojectThey leave the factory like this. Loose mags in the range bag. Its unacceptable especially since it appears to be happening all the time.

I would've said "Sure I'm flexing" and went back to whatever I was doing.
