Hands down simplest to follow yet most detailed video I've seen. I watched it once and doubt I have to even go back and watch it again because I don't remember something. Other videos throw too much filler in with the important stuff it's hard to keep track
I've always said: when it comes to electronics, there's a solution for everything! You only need to look in the right place, then again, there's always the other side of the coin. Which is; a darn lifesaver like you on the other side. Thanks buddy.
You have helped with the Sirius radio install in my Tacoma now you have helped with this back up cam retention, don't know you but your amazing and easy to understand. I appreciate you
Good video! Only other thing after wiring, I had to change the video settings in my head unit. Edit: Apparently you can get "pac rpa-va1" to convert the cameras dynamic signal to single-ended to further improve video quality.
Thank you so much finally somebody that has a video about this I've been searching for about 14 months with no prevail, I literally went to Best Buy last week because I was ready to give up this was the only step that was preventing me from upgrading my audio system and it's an SUV I kind of do need the feature. And it comes with factory backup camera thank you, I understand for you it's an everyday thing but we'll give it a try, where can I find the inverters that's really all we need right tap into the ground power and then video receiving, delivering RCA video signal to stereo
So you used the aftermarket radio with the factory backup cam? I am trying to donut on a Chevy 2015 Silverado. Retaining the factory camera is the hardest part. But… it is supposed to have a wire that connects the OR camera. So returned that head unit. I have installed on on my Lexus Es 300 but was easy because it came with a new hi def backup camera and my car didn’t have 1 installed. It works great! The camera is a bitch on factory retention
Awesome videos bro. I have a 2010 Chevy Tahoe that I bought 2 years ago and has a pioneer stereo and I took it to a audio store to see if they could connect the stock rear view camera but they said they couldn't connect it to the stereo, do you know why they couldn't connect it?
Love your videos bruh. I was hoping you could help me with an install issue. I’m installing a head unit in a 2012 Toyota venza with factory Navi/cd. I’m trying to find the factory backup camera wiring to retain the factory camera in the new unit. Would you happen to know the wiring location of the factory camera?
Okay stupid question first time installing a radio on a car with a back up cam 2018 civic lx I have a harness that is back up cam ready and has 2 wires hanging off it it clips into a harness and has 6v power red, a black wire and the video plug what do I do 🤣
Just the video I needed! I installed an android headunit into my 18' Camry. The reverse is triggering the headunit to focus on the backup camera, but it's not receiving any video input. Do you think I'd be able to just install the RCA wire adapter and be good to go?
Can you help me to find the signal cable from the rear camera I just install the rca but now Idk Wich cable goes the signal to the camera when I put reverse it’s a 2012 ram 2500 diesel Laramie I want to keep the factory camera with an aftermarket radio
Thanks bro...i have lexus is300 model 2011 and i am planing to android head unit but i want my OEM back up cam so my question is the wire u mention will work same way in my car or it need something else???
Hey Bro, nice video. I have a question can I just cut a yellow rca cable and isolate those wires and splice to my factory harnes. I have a 2012 Navigator. I know my wiring is different. But the concept the same?
Hi JP, I am using this exact harness for my install. Here is my question - I want the factory camera to be able to come on even while driving. Where do I hook up the power wire for the harness (Blue/white). If I put it with the reverse wire, wont the camera only work on reverse? Can I add it to the red power wire for the radio? It has the steering wheel control on it too.
JPtheinstallguy thanks for the reply. I guess my worry is having too much on that wire. I have the camera, steering wheel control but still want to add the kenwood dash cam. Plus an amp down the line. How do you know when you have too much on the wire?
@@richbeckman470 i know what you mean. you really dont want to put to many accessories on a single circuit you might want to use a relay. as a matter of fact i think that might be an upcoming video i do on teaching a little about relays and how you can use a bunch of accessories of it.
Is the axxess conversor for specifics models or can be used in any model? I have a kia sportage 2018 and this conversor shows is only up to kia sportage 2017.
say brah i just got my boss audio single din the shop hooked it up it looks like u looking threw a fish bowl the tech said the aspect ratio is offwill this fix it ???
I have this connected to the aswc-1 in a 2015 Nissan Rogue select but when I switch to reverse it just shows a black screen with the lines. No video. What am I doing wrong? Also the steering wheel won’t program
Jp help me out please I’ve got a 2020 Chevy 2500 I had to remove the back tailgate for a dump bed now I am trying to hook up a camera because I in dire need for a reverse camera I know where the OEM harnesses all of that stuff but I want to wire up a different camera to the dump bed please help me is there anything I can get to wire up an aftermarket camera to the OEM harness. The wire I tie into looks almost like a fiber optic cable
Amru Ashour did you replace the factory radio? And what cables did you use, I attempted to replace it and I was not able to get any sound! And of course, the camera didn’t work. Which is why I got here
Everardo Rubio I never ended up doing it because I got busy. However I plan on doing it soon. Your best bet is to order a ready harness from crutch field with all the needed adapters
1. Every car doesnt have a camera retention harness. 2. Most Camera retention harness only retain signal not power so it's only an rca in a harness and still come with step down converter cause all factory cameras are 6v. 3. If your Camera image is in the rear view mirror you'll have to use the same steps to re route signal to aftermarket radio if you want image on different screen. 4.this shows people how to do it if they vehicle doesn't have those options.

I would never have found that step down adapter without the link. Thanks so much.
I know it’s an old video but I appreciate ya bc I’m going to be trying this on my Honda Ridgeline soon

What’s up man? Curious to know if they made a harness for a 2012 Prius by now that you know of. Thanks I’m advanced.

Modified life gives wire diagrams also
Another great option
What is the web site to find the wiring diagrams?
Does this work with all new cars? Like a 2023 Jeep JL Wrangler?

My pioneer radio acting the same way. My kenwood, jvc, boss, and stock radios all get it without an issue SMH
Probably because you're pushing 12 V to the camera. You need a 6 V step down like hes showing you
Mine has a back up and a passenger side camera on the mirror for when I hit the right turn signal, do you think I could still have both with this?

if you want the camera to work while your driving instead of powering it with the reverse wire use ignition so it stays on when the car comes on

Can i use it for toyota tacoma 2017
just depends on if the wire colors are the same, but the process most defiantly will be the same
So wait you connect the blue/white and the blue/red together on the 12v cable???
have you worked on any Nissan Nv200, If so what are the wires that are used for it.
Thanks Onic
do the moving factory camera lines still stay?
If your factory camera had moving lines then yes they should. Some lines are built in the camera and not the monitor so it depends on the car
JPtheinstallguy I have a 2017 rav4 limited with the dynamic lines so I’m assuming it will work then

they literally make aftermarket adapters no need to hack up the factory harness

were you boght that???
It's a step down converter, not just some resistors.
A step-down converter is literally 2 resistors that brings your 12 volts down to 6 Volts when 12v and ground hit both sides of it
Boom. Haha
clean your car please.
