Masterclass! This is one of the best instructional videos I've ever seen and I don't even own a Tacoma. 😄
DEAN!!! I love your way to explain everything, and i mean EVERYTHING. I’ve learned tons by watching your videos. If i need any answers i allways go to 5star car stereo.. love your vids. Awesome as allways👍👍

THIS is why I brought my truck to Dean and Fernando! Thank you and I can't wait to hear and see the difference today. Nicely done.

Nice video. I've been searching through various videos, looking for one to install a Kenwood to my Rav4. All of the other videos from other people make me nauseous because their cameras are either mounted on their head or held in one hand so they constantly moving and never focus in on the task at hand. Not to mention their explanation of what they are doing is seriously lacking. Yours is by far the best of any I have seen so far. Thanks
My name is Fernando and I almost had a heart attack during the first few seconds of your video.
Very in depth video! You know your stuff.
When you are talking about moving the feed and not just duplicating. Is there a reason you can’t just cut the rca feed and connect it to the head unit, but still just keep the power through the mirror? Essentially using the mirror and your 12v to 6v step down.
just found this video, i am a sub to your channel, just bought a tacoma and wanted to do this exact thing.
Thanks for this info. Only place on the internet that helped me!
Thanks for everything you do on this channel. I notice at point 0:26 you state that the OEM Toyota camera is substandard. Can you recommend an upgrade camera for a 2020 86? Preferably one that fits in the OEM position.
Thank you. I followed your explanation and the camera is working.
You two guys are the best.
I have a 09 Tacoma I am wanting to add a front camera to. In this video (which is great BTW) you mentioned that's what this guy wanted to do. Do you have a video that walks you through how to mount and wire up the camera for front?
Very helpful, thank you.
Fyi. Tacoma’s have a junction above fuse box white plug. Same colors at the plug.
Hi guys welcome back. I need to replace my back up cam it works but rez is not so good don't knw if you viewed it but can u recommend one that's plug & play?
Perfection as always my friends. Yes I found the RGB with Golf. Thank god for adapters. ;)
See you later, next time..... byyyeeeeee
Link?
Do you happen to have a video on swapping a gm back up camera from mirror to aftermarket radio?
Hey guys would you advise a full music install (subs, amp and 4 door speakers) in something like a Prius C.
Hi it looks like this video will help me . just got my 2010 tacoma. when i put in reverse i get a blue screen for a few seconds then goes black. the stereo is a pioneer mvh 1400 nex. before i buy the pac 39 i want to know why i only get the blue screen in the mirror a few seconds. is there a connector that use to plug into the stock radio ? i do want to use the pioneer screen only.
Dear friend thanks for a professional video. I wanted to ask I have a Toyota Yaris Ativ 2017 with a camera from the factory. This week I replaced the old stereo with a new Android. But the camera does not work because it is 6 volts. You can explain or make a video what needs and how to install. Thanks anyway And with you sorry
Good morning and thanks to you both. I have a 2010 Tacoma with similar setup. Is it to be assumed that you also hook up "reverse wire" from the aftermarket radio into the vehicle's reverse circuit?
Yes... Just did this in mine.
Great video
If you have both images going at the same time will it damage the rear view mirror
Nope
Very informative as always. What year Tacoma is that one? I wonder how’s the camera in the 2018 model.
In an 18, the camera wires are already at the head unit.
I realize this is an old video, but do they make a T-Harness for the rearview camera at the mirror? I drive a 2010 Tundra and expect it would be similar. Thanks!
Nice good video
Great Video which Pioneer radio is that how would you switch between front and rear cam input?
Rich Acevedo my 8201 our hold map then witch between front and rear
Do I need to do anything with a rearview mirror camera if I only want the rearview mirror camera? Or do I need a harness or RCA if I'm installing an aftermarket radio and only want the mirror view?
So will the backup camera trigger when in reverse? Or will I have to manually engage the backup camera?
Please do one with 2014 HUNDAI veloster , cannot find anything , i am putting in sony 7000 but i cannot find anytjing on what or how to keep my stock back up camera . Please advise including parts
For those of us that need to retain Toyota factory head units (I have a 2019 GX460), is there a way to tap in and mirror the HU screen on a tablet or IPad? Run a cord from the back of the HU, straight to the tablet? If not, do I have other options to retain factory cameras?
I have a 2012 Avalon, and a back up camera in my mirror. The cost to install would be about how much?
I'm looking for a Harness for a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan for my Pioneer and want to keep the original camera.
Can you wire in a dashcam to capture and record the input from all the cameras on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma?
What if I need reverse job. I have factory Toyota unit but camera is aftermarket. Can I use aftermarket market camera with factory unit. I have adapter as well but not working. Something to do with volt?
Do you have a video to mirror the radio and the mirror?
What do you guys use for solder? Lead solder or lead free?
Ok... so i have a 2007 tundra with the backup camera wiring pre ran for the mirror... can i just fish the end for the mirror to the radio and use a wiring harness to connect to the radio?
I have a 2009 Tacoma, and I was able to get the camera signal to my aftermarket deck near the fuse panel.
Yes! Sooo much easier!
How did you do it? I already tried with the red and black in the camera and the other red in the other reverse connection and I only have the black screen
I don't see a shield going to my mirror I have a 2012 Camaro also which red wire do you connect it to if you just wanted to mirror it
Can you upgrade to a full view rear cam?
I have a 2012 tundra with an oem rear view mirror camera that I want to clone to my Kenwood dnx576S head unit. i already installed the idatatalink hardware to use my steering wheel controls. It came with wiring to connect to the camera to the Tundra, but there is no connection coming from the Tundra harness to the idatalink harness. I'm planning to feed the camera RCA signal wire from the OEM camera into the Kenwood's female RCA input to give it the signal, but I'm not sure if I will need to step down for voltage or something...or is it even necessary? The Tundra forums suggest tapping into the camera wiring by removing the A pilar cover on the driver's side. video / camera wires are located in the drivers side A pillar.
Red = Center of coax (V+)
Grey = Shield of coax (V-)
i already tapped into the reverse wire on the passenger side kick panel and the parking lines show on the head unit when I put it in reverse. I wish I had your expertise with this, but clearly, I don't. Any further instructions or information you can provide would be most welcome. Thanks
Good morning
We’re are you located ? I would like this done on my Tacoma
How to reverse Toyota 2017 Corolla back up himmage
Why couldn't you just unhook the video feed from the mirror and run it to the a.f.m . Leaving the mirror to power the camera?
ALEX That's what I was thinking, just clip the two video wires going to the mirror and route to HU. I think it's because of the comment he said about having the option to have the camera on any time besides just reverse. I guess if you used the camera solely during reverse it would work.
They wanted it to be viewed while the car was running. The camera from the factory mirror is only powered during reverse.
I think if you do that, the screen on the mirror powers with the 12v trigger which powers up the screen which sends 6v power to camera and since no signal is present from camera to mirror the screen on the mirror goes blue while the camera image goes to head unit.
after i see this video i get more confused than i was before how move my factory toyota mirror camera to my new radio ..ill keep looking
Off beat comment dean... hope your feeling ok look like you lost a bit of weight
:-)
