The annoying fuel transfer thing is a recent bug. You don't need to quick save and quickload to fix it, you can fix it by mousing over the fuel guages on the top right fuel ui thingy.
I have no idea why that works, but it does.
I thought it was one of the many bugs caused by mods
This bug happens all the time, a quick time warp is usually enough to fix it.
I have a similar glitch where the Crew Transfer would just stop as well, a quicksave/quickload combo usally fixes it temporarily but most times I have to restart my game
yep happened to me a lot with transferring fuel around some poorly balanced SSTOs, really really obnoxious

One last note...Matt, I hope you see this...Have you ever thought about an ssto to Dres? I don’t think I have ever seen a mission like that.

@@MattLowneMaster matt can I ask you a question? How do you do mining if you don't have an ungodly amount of rtgs? Or do you have 68 rtgs? I made an ssto with 68 rtgs and a mining rig but it is really heavy and tends to drop my fps
@@spinningsquare1325 put more batteries on your rig, and less rtgs. Sometimes it's possible to glitch the game with time warp and allow a single rtg or solar panel to power a whole mining rig.

Matt lowne I have that glitch all the time with transferring fuel. Even in the same crafts the game won't let me transfer fuel from one tank to the other. Now that you have put this video out with this glitch in it I hope it will be removed

Well it's fuel that he wouldn't be able to use, so it's effectively dry mass

What does it feel like to record a 1 hour movie with F2 and without showing your cursor
Extremely difficult! Luckily I can still have UI for a lot of the trickier stuff. By recording at 1440p resolution and having the UI at its smallest scale, I can crop the UI out and still be left with a nice 1080p frame. The atmosphere docking wouldn't have been possible without a navball lol

There are also lights in KSP, to be able to do docking on the dark side. For party mode you can also make them any colour you want....

Hey matt, I was wondering if you could do a science mode play through on a kopernicus mod that adds new star systems or make your own? (sadly at the moment n extrasolar mods are compatible with the current version of ksp). But if you do get around to this i very very very very highly suggest you use a mod called “ksp interstellar extended”. Its a mod that is compatible with the current version of ksp and it extends the tech tree by practically two-fold. It adds hundreds of new parts such as solar sails, fusion engines, new cockpits, reactors, radiators, thermal reactors, nuclear jet engines, and at the end of the tech tree is the alcubierre warp drive.
Like so matt can see this, This would be an awesome series!!

This video is definitely more than half the length of in to the warp. This video seemed more like a planet coaster video where there wasn't a definitive plan and it was just fun footage of Matt playing around.

I feel like a cool video idea would be to make a mothership with a docked mining refueler and relays and stuff. Than travel to like the Jool system or even visiting a bunch of past space stations and surface colonies, unless a video has already been made like this without my knowledge

I've had the same fuel transfer problem and as far as I can tell this is how it happens. For some odd reason if you open the information window for an individual tank AND use the show all/transfer resources box then it maybe might work for a moment and then just fail endlessly. If you close the transfer stuff and then close the individual tank information window and then reopen the transfer stuff it will then work. Now it should also be noted that I didn't seem to have this issue until after I had moded my KSP so that might be the reason you don't normally encounter this issue in your purist mainstream videos. (compatibility is kewl then we can just add/replace with our own moded parts the little bits)
It is possible with cheats but not when I'm using it

Good video 😊 👍 one suggestion. Autostrut that station to the heaviest part it will cut down on the SAS wobbles
I just click on each part and hit the Auto strut button heaviest part seems to work best.
Docking is definitely one of the most hardest stuff. But once I got it the first time, it now seems to be easy. Using your lazy method off docking makes it that much easier.

I have found the easiest way, that I know of, to deal with the fuel transfer bug, is to double tap esc between each tank transfer. Transfer one tank, then double tap esc, basically pause/unpause quickly, then go on to the next tank. repeat as needed.

I've had that glitch so many times! I've started using a fuel/charge transfer mod which just let's me simply transfer fuel or electric charge from one ship to another with a click of a button.

The alien ship kinda reminded me of the collector ship from mass effect.
I have had the fuel problem, I usually fix it by moving the mouse cursor over the Resources Panel and the fuel then transfer happens again.( better than reloading all the time)

I've had that fuel transfer bug but I thought it was due to the mods I had installed. I have ship manifest installed though, so whenever the bug crops up I just use that instead. Its not a part mod, more a QOL like KER, so perhaps you could use that and still maintain your stock approach to ships, missions, etc?
I've seen some glitches as well. I couldn't attach a strut or a duct. So, I had to go without and altered the decoupler to added as one. Then I had to alter the fuel flow priorities so it would drain the external first and when it got to zero I had to manually stage it. Am also seeing other screw ball behaviour.
Yeah Matt that glitch has happened to me no matter what you do the fuel tanks just give up on life
Found the issue with fuel transfer myself. Select the fuel tanks you want to transfer, then hover over the fuel type on the upper right which will show all tanks of that type then go back to start the fuel transfer. This will save restarts.
Always bring a drain valve Matt, always be prepared just in case.
Matt, why do you disable pitch yaw and roll after you exit the atmosphere??

I've picked up that ksp doesn't like to pump fuel 'upwards' now idk, in my little encounters with this bug I found facing the receiving craft towards the celestial body you're orbiting seemed to help.

and by krakenized i mean my try on replicating the ssto just woke the kraken, and stretched up all parts on it, and one time i tried to land a ringwing launche rocket, it woke the warp kraken and shot my craft speeding away from the system, and my game crashed

Oh my god Matt I feel your pain with the shielded docking ports. I tried making a space station with Mk2 spaceplanes docked via inline docking ports, but it's not possible. Such a shame
You can use a decoupler to attach your vessels and the translation tool to place your vessels with the docking ports aligned. The docking ports will immediately dock upon loading and then you can just decoule the decoupler.
What visual mod are you using and what game version are you playing?

You should do colonization series with interplanetary VABs, there is mod for that stuff, it would be cool seeing you colonizing solar system. I noticed that you like stock game, but this would be really interesting, rocket launchers from others planets would be awesome.
What about as a bit of excitement, you get a space station on a decaying orbit and attempt a rescue rendezvous before it renters atmosphere, or attempt to stabilise it

Exactly like my SSTOs! :) But my big one keeps emptying my refueling station, so I'm rebuilding it with more fuel and less cargo space in the hope it'll reach Minmus without refueling.
I liked the asteroid mining without an AGU in the movie. I say that having just carefully figured out how to shoehorn an AGU into 2 different vehicles. In neither case is it fit for towing, so it's theoretically unnecessary, but I'm not sure I'm a good enough pilot. Or rather, I'd have to fit really weak RCS to get fine enough control. Likewise with the interior of the abandoned ship. Or perhaps I just fit overly strong RCS normally.
I try to avoid 0.0km separation, these days. :) One of the first times I rendezvoused my current best mining ship with a tanker, it whooshed past at 50m/s and far too little separation. The mining ship is a long collection of Mk3 and 3.75m parts, so for surface stability it has a quartet of FAT-455 wings as pylons. One of these destroyed a Gigantor solar panel fitted to the middle of the tanker. It just whooshed through it, leaving photovoltaic _shards._ It's a miracle both ships weren't reduced to their constituent parts, really!
In my current save I have a slightly different fuel transfer bug, where when I finish transferring between one pair of tanks, if I open another tank (and close one of the others in the process) it won't transfer until I close and re-open the new tank. And of course it isn't reliable and always closing and reopening the second tank sometimes triggers the bug instead of fixing it, so transferring fuel is always a pain.

Same fuel transfer bug. Seems different things make the transfer work again. I always bind solar panels to 1 and when I toggle them it fixes it about 70% of the time.
For the fuel tank glitch, if you timewarp for a second and then untime warp, it will work again
