Lowne Aerospace, Service: Not present, but games were fun 2/5, Food: tasted like dirt 1/5, Safety: Engines fell off, slight irradiation from engines, Pilot just spun craft around 3/5. Would recommend 5/5.
I'd kinda like to see how your approach to this changes if you did this trip back and forth 20 or 30 times, like how a career pilot would get super smooth and familiar with a routine approach.
Great video as always. But I saw the ad for Shipbreaker, which I just finished. I want to say it was an AWESOME game, I had way more fun than I thought I would. For me, it felt like I was in the universe of The Expanse novels. I really loved it!
Welcome to the Hotel Minmus Flats! You can EVA any time you like, but you can never reach escape velocity. They stab it with their steely flagpoles, but they just can't eat the dessert.
I was listening to Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino the other day and thought it would be cool to make in ksp, then you released this video and it was so crazy to me haha
It would be really cool to make something in the canon place (sea of tranquility, moon) tha looks like the cover art. Actually someone in reddit has probably done it already but it would bexamazing if it hasn't
as someone who has played Hardspace Shipbreaker, I have to say it is a really cool game! 1st time ever where I've actually tried the advert before it was an advert lol my one main criticism is I wish the career mode was longer, though I did like the story. Also happy to see your computer is working again Matt!
Great vid Matt! I loved the advert segue lol! Can confirm Hardspace Shipbreaker is a pretty good game. Very therapeutic great for when you just want to grind away at something mindlessly.
10:32. Matt commenting on his unintentional "space" pun reminds me of this line from WALL-E: "Too much garbage in your face? There's plenty of space out in space!"
I gave up with rovers on Minmus given the wheels have no grip on the ice/glass/whatever. My equivalent to this hotel infrastructure was an SSTO to get tourists to orbit where they would transfer to a roadhouse/waystation, then a transfer rocket to take tourists from the LKO roadhouse to Minmus surface. The transfer rocket landed on top of the hotel because my experiments with "airbridge" style passenger transfer arm always ended up with explosions.
With the waterfall glitch you mentioned near landing, I advise that you install the newest version of the stock effects mod. The plumes were even updated for many engines.
This reminds me a lot of that single mission building a space station video where Matt didnt recover the flight probably one of my favs of his and a fitting end to the Minmis hotel and casino series
could not have arrived at a better time for me personally because i am currently struggling with an SSTO to retrieve 5 kerbals from my mun-orbiting space station in career mode. i'm sure you've gone over SSTO mechanics in this level of detail before but i'm glad you explained in more detail. it's very helpful. 😁
I only got a hotel to an island on kerbin as my computer can't handle large crafts very well. I call it the Kerbstin Resort & Spa. Accessible via a shuttle aircraft and bus. Meant to be a vacation spot for kerbals near the beach.
I feel a bit sorry for the tourists. They've waited years for a holiday to Minmus but, little did they know, it will be years, if ever, that Matt will take them home again. Make yourselves at home boys.
You should build a self-sustaining airship. You should also build a ship with multiple engines, including a hidden Kraken Drive, to pretend that it’s engines are more powerful/efficient than they really are.
I love your SSTOs, and copy them frequently! Love all your videos! Tourists can EVA if you put them in an external seat somewhere. Then they can leave the seat and do normal EVA stuff! Of course, if the EVA-ing Tourist kerbal enters a cabin or pod, he cannot EVA again.
I will second the notion of the game being extra challenging on consoles. It is a pain to do building, the wrong click compleately kills crafts, at least when i was playing there was no mod access at all, and it takes forever to do almost anything!
quick question, how do you transfer kerbals from the supersonic transport onto the bus? while the SSTO has a docking port on the front it's not clear where the docking port is on the transport.
that engine sound disappearing bug happens without waterfall mod. ive got scatterer, [x]-science, Realplume/Realplume stock, Full Auto Strut, smokescreen, better timewarp, kerbal engineer, clickthrough blocker, toobar control, part highlighter. some mods are needed for other mods...
So, while narrating over your Planet Coaster Adventure Park series, the Arctic Monkeys comes up, which leads you to discussing their albums and eventually this series. At some point soon after, you realize you never actually finished this series, and decide you should probably do so. That means that everyone has Planet Coaster to thank for the final completion of this series, and everyone should go watch it for the true insider Matt Lowne knowledge.
Hardspace ship breaker is awesome. Although with how easy it is to mess up and and cause an explosive decompression, I’m not sure it would be my game of choice if I were actively on a space ship! Reminds me of that scene in Airplane! where they in flight movie is just a series of airplane disasters
Back in the day i had an ssto design that i managed to strap on enough air intakes to keep the jet engines running up to 25 km. It wasnt a passenger ssto tho, no where near as large.
The Minmus hotel is one of your best videos in my opinion.

I think you were held at gunpoint to write this review
That ascent was the most focused on the mission and on point that matt's ever been. Congrats! You should be using that graphic more often.
Hardspace Shipbreaker is legit a really great game. It’s got all those elements that make it super satisfying and comforting
just a pity it's vomit inducing for people with a tendency for motion sickness

I remember years ago after the penultimate video waiting for this to come out. I got such a nice feeling of nostalgia when I saw this video.

Getting out of stall: pitch down, zero throttle, yaw to the opposite side of the spin.

Matt, the waterfall mod conflicts with better time warp and that's what causes the sound bug. Same thing happened to me
