I have bought a Megahome water distiller exactly like this one (glass jug) on line few months ago and I`m very happy with it.
To clean the inside of it I use a table spoon of vinegar in about half centimetre of water to clean the bottom of the heating chamber. Leave the vinegar for about 15 min then gently scrub.
I repeat this few times if there is too much crap at bottom. It cleans it ok.

It's easier if you clean it out each time you use it - simply add some water and rinse out with a dish sponge. For the tougher bits near where the heating elemet is situated, just use a little lemon juice or vinegar - leave for a while then rinse out.

So if you're cleaning the container and you say to turn it on for 15 minutes, how does one turn the unit off? Unplug? Also do you have to wait 20 minutes before you take off lid after soaking cleaning solution?

Why do you need a carbon filter for distilled water?

So just to be clear you have to run the machine with cleaner inside of it between every distillation which takes hours. So you're not going to be processing more than a gallon or two per day?

No, just rinse and use a non stick scouring sponge after every distillation. Use the cleaning crystals once a month or when you notice a build up of lime scale but don't put the lid on.

What is the purpose of the filter? Doesn't distilling eliminate any need for a filter?

Help! I've had my megahome water distiller for a few months now and I really don't like the taste. It has this foul taste and smell to it? It doesn't taste or smell clean? Is this normal? The water taste and smell like the leftovers at the bottom of the tank after a run. I clean my distiller regularly there is no buildup what so ever in the tank.
I do not add minerals as I believe we get minerals from what we eat anyways, but would adding minerals mask the foul taste?

Your water is too dirry. You need to filter the water. Get a cheap sediment water filter.

what PH level do you end up with from this machine.

Plastic collection jug is a joke.
It make the water taste like piss.
    Use a glass one instead.
Use Cheap supermarket water, not tap water, no black residue from the supermarket water.
Fill to within an inch of the full line, don't fill to the line itself.
Use 2 carbon filters, not 1.
If the clean is too expensive, use a mix of citric acid, and baking soda.
    Clean about once a week.
Don't let it boil until it turns itself off.
You'll end up with a filthy residue on the bottom of the distilling pot.
Use a timer socket if possible.
    Enjoy

Get yourself a glass kettle .. filter your water - fill the kettle - boil it & let it cool - if the result is NOT perfectly clear with NO residue on the surface of the water or the heating element of the kettle, then your filter is not doing its job. I've spent 2 years researching this using various types of filter and so far the ONLY filtration system that works and works at least 99% is 'distillation' where you end up with pure water and an unbelievably spotless kettle every time.
Some sellers also supply an electronic water tester with the kit. My tap water read 0486 parts per million of crap.. Distilled...? wait for it..... 0000 !

Why is the power cable so short?

    • @dannyg2311
      @dannyg2311 7 років тому

Violet Blye it’s not, that cable connects the cooling fan to the base. The main power cable from the base to the plug socket is actually quite long. Plug one end into the base and the other end into the plug socket on the wall.
The one you see here is fixed to the cooling fan. Once the top is on just connect the end into the base next to the main cable.
