Thanks for this, I just used mine for the first time and freaked out how much stuff was in my water!! Can't believe I've been drinking tap poison all my life! Now my distiller is nice and clean, I can make some more Fresh Clean Water! Cheers!!
We have had the Megahome distiller for over 2.5 yrs distilling 2 gallons per day. Recently I noticed an odd taste & deduced that the bottom of the boiling chamber has corroded thru the stainless steel. We are now using our new Megahome we had stored in our garage. We will be purchasing a new one as a backup. The best price I found is $219 from Nutriteam for the white model, with free shipping
I don’t completely boil out my water from my mega home distiller, been using it since August 2015 and still works great, you can preserve it by plugging it into a mechanical timer in the wall outlet for about half hour less than it usually takes to distill, so I have about inch and a half water left in the bottom And it shut off with my mechanical timer. My research shows that when boiling completely out, you can boil some of the residues back into the condenser coil, top and back into your water, plus cutting it off early does help to have your distiller not burn out quicker with super high heat at the bottom in my opinion. I think that’s why mine is still going for almost 9 years. Leaving some water behind before it shuts off, shows how slimy and thick the water is when it’s condensed, I pour that out, that’s what tapwater is like, disgusting.
After soaking in vinegar, you can add a scoop of baking soda for extra cleaning power. Then just wipe clean and rinse. Soap is actually just a base and an acid mixed together so this combination is like a natural soap.
Just received mine today and finished first cycle (took 6 hours )used first batch to activate filter and now after 2 hours have started another batch and will be cleaning with vinegar instead of the citric acid provided as instructions state you have to let water boil after adding few tablespoons. Your way seems better. Thanks
I do the exact same. I have serious lime residue after just one gallon. I just spray it well with straight white vinegar and really only need to wait a few minutes. It stays perfectly clean this way.
Best way I have found is to just cover the bottom of the distiller with white vinegar. Then fill it with water and put the top on, but don't attach the second power cord from the top to the base. Then just turn the distiller on and let it run for 20 or 30 mins. It cleans the inside and the lid.
Better to remove nozzle on the top, then u can take care of the top part. No water flushes into the cord as it did with you.. Good tip with the vinegar.. Thanks
Just got mine from the company as Amazon did not carry the brand when I looked. Love this video. So much quicker to clean (and powerless) with use of white vinegar. Can you store this water for any period of time? How do you store it? Would a glass jug with a cork plug kept in the dark keep it for drinking? Thanks. I love you and Alice.
sir did you use normal vinegar because I just researched, and I found that "white distilled vinegar" is the best for cleaning . thank u for the tip because i would have never known to use vinegar thank sir.
I just use straight white vinegar, no water in a spray bottle and only have to wait a few minutes. Spray the sides well, and enough to cover the bottom. Then wipe with a dish rag and hot water. Rinse well.
OMG what's this cool music ?? I couldn't stop dancing💃👯🏃. This also is the best video on how to clean the distiller. I'll tel you why because all the others do not show you how to clean the inside of the lid.. Mine was in a very bad way thick and crusty, I had to take it all apart tomorrow me a good hour to clean it all etc. But as I said This video informs us about the lids unlike the others vids
The instructions say to clean monthly. But after one use, I got deposits making the shiny stainless steel look dull . So I used the cleaning powder provided and heated the warm water and dumped it. I wiped the inside. There were spots near the top that didn't come clean. I used a cloth with vinegar to get the rest of it. So, isn't it best to remove residue after each use?
Is it okay to wash the top cover part of the megahome unit with some running water? I had my machine in the basement for a while and I believe that dust has settled inside the parts where the fan is located. So I was just wondering if it was okay to run it under some cold water?
pro tip: for bigger boiling chambers, fill a plastic bag or two w regular water to displace vinegar and raise the level of vinegar without wasting a large amount. Put the bag(s) filled w regular tap water into the chamber allowing the vinegar to surround them, cleaning the surface of chamber without requiring as large an amount of vinegar.
If I boil my water on the hob and place into the megahome distiller I was told this would reduce the distillation time. Is this something that you have tried? If so how much time did it reduce the distillation process by.
MrVeggieman yes it does but why waste it?? I use cheap white vinegar buy it by the gallon.. I drink apple cider vinegar and use it with foods..of course I'd love to clean with it but it goes so fast I'd be broke.
I like to fill my slightly above the fill line, and then set a timer on my phone for 5h 40m. That way, you won't trip the thermal overload (which is a safety switch not an on/off switch) and can extend the lifetime of your water distiller. Thermal overloads are designed to 'open' an electrical circuit when temperatures exceed a certain range, and can only cycle open/closed so many times before they ultimately fail rendering your distiller inoperable.
@@flosstycoon9375I just saw your comment and I posted something similar previously, I have found the same thing, I use a mechanical timer in the outlet, and set it for just the right amount of time that it shuts off so that there is still at least an inch of water left in there, and that water is very slimy showing how nasty tapwater is, but now I’m using my mega home for almost 9 years, I believe it has lengthen the life of my distiller having it shut off before the water boils completely out

will distilled vinegar work? we only have distilled vineger
No danger in wetting the socket and switch?
Very useful 👍 Thank you❤️

😊the company said you can vacuum or use a air blower to clean the fans.
Thanks a lot for the demonstration
What about the distillation coils?

Why not use hot water from the tap?
Is that straight vinegar or a ratio?
Hi. Can vinegar react with stainless steel?
I’ve been doing it this way for a year now a couple times a week. It still looks new. I rinse it well and never notice anything like that.
Definitely going to try this
Thank you very much for this video!
How do clean the pipe of the distiller?
Thank you
That stuff comes with the unit but what do you use when you run out? Is there a home remedy?
It's just Citric Acid, available in bulk for very little $$
Distilled white vinegar
Citric acid...
does apple cider vinegar work as well
Absolutely!

Not for me. Not even the first use.
Thank you! 💗
Thank you!!!!! My next job x
Can I use red wine vinegar?
dont let run dry. Leave a little water and it wont leave a mark

That wasn't true in my case. I left an inch of water and still had calcium deposits, after the first run through.

should you use soap so it does not taste like vinegar? after you use the vinegar/?
I never use soap or a scrubber of any kind. What comes out will always be pure, clean distilled H20.
Just rinse it well. It won’t taste like vinegar
The vinegar will be filtered out.
@@plantabundancehow long can one store this water for drinking? And how?

You don't have to clean it so often !

does this work with apple cider vinegar?
I've done it, it worked just fine
I thought vinegar would corrode/rust even stainless steel?
Beats dope🤣🤣👌👌
