I know I'm posting on a 3 year old video, but everything in the video still applies to the game now and this extra info might help others stumbling on this video. The megaship Dedicant located in HIP 19600 is damaged so always in that system, plus it's an anarchy system so no cops. But the best part is for some reason you don't need to get 300m from the terminal to scan them in order to be able to hack them after you relog so you can just park about 1km away in view of both the terminals and with an operations multi limpet, send 2 limpets to hack both at the same time and then just relog and repeat... Happy Farming! o7
After I scan the data point I attempt to hit it with a recon limpit. It keeps kicking back an Invalid Limpet Target error. Any ideas? I've tried on all three data points.
That’s an unfortunate bug. Your ship gets “de-instanced” and it runs away at its orbital velocity while you stay behind. Try dropping out ahead of it and seeing if the game will link you up when it gets close. If that doesn’t work, wait until it jumps on Thursday and try it’s next stop.
Sadly I have not found a proper workaround yet. However, while the Freedom Class Surveyors are the most convenient, any megaship with a Hackable Data Transmitter will provide the same drops (Except damaged megaships). You may need to search another system for a Bulk Cargo Ship/Hauler or an Alcatraz class Prison Ship/Reformatory. I believe those have a single transmitter on them. Unfortunately I don't have any lists of other known megaships.
At about 7:00, I show the order of systems this particular megaship jumps to. The megaship is in one of those systems, and can be found using the FSS. Just honking the system also reveals it in the Nav Panel. It jumps to the next system on the list each Thursday morning at the weekly server tick at 7 AM UTC.
Wow thanks mate ur the only one who is actually helping me I've ask some other people watched some videos it's like no one knows how to find them . Or don't want to tell u. 1 sed just Google it . Which didn't help me much .

Disregard, I hadn't targeted the sub target of the limpet docking station after scanning the data point.
Tried that, it's in Hip 33368, but when I drop out FSD it begins moving away from me, even at top speed with boost I can't catch it.

I'm having the same problem, did you figure out a solution? Really want to do this for encoded data, Jameson is just so slow.

@@STOFDOCMD also I've noticed going into silent running does nothing right now, security forces are still sent after me regardless.
Tried this today in Bhaga but got annihalated by NPC's after first scan looking for cargo that I didn't have :(
A Random Megaship Defense Scenario might have triggered. It's not too common but if it happens, it's best just to bug out and reload the map.
