Never been drawn into power play before, now I can't wait to get stuck in. Another new ship and feature X still to come this year, hate the miserable haters, Elite is still an epic bit of entertainment.
Thats actually really good to hear. i havent played the game in about a year and a half due to life and all that. i couldnt keep grinding on the game so i kind of just fell off from it. i plan on getting back into it and i know a lot of players were pissed with the devs and people were leaving like crazy before i stopped playing so i thought it was going to die. glad to see its still kicking and some people are enjoying the game. i know i sure did when i played
It would be cool if you could launch fighters from your carriers and assign them as CAP in a system, to planets, zones etc. Give the Fleet Carriers more purpose and spumk. The more fighters you have, the higher the operational costs and maintenance... imagine the Battlestar Galactica vibes you'd get. Diamond Backs as Raptors... searching POI on planets instead of firing probes.
yeah that would be neat. And maybe you could use those fighters as response for operations in that system instead of system defense, or in addition to. Might be cool
I would absolutely love to purchase one of the stronghold carriers...if fdev would put one of those up for sale, let say at 66% of the cost of a regular fleet carrier, i would be on board with that. A "pocket carrier" would be great at exploration. Keep the same range on the jumps, maybe reduce the number of ships storage a tad, all the same services...that would be a complete winner in my opinion.
So, the Mandalay: exact same Core internals than an AspX, save the Power Distributor. And a hull 50 tons lighter in mass. Theorycrafted the Asp to squeeze over 78 LY Max jump range, so it'll be intriguing to see where the lighter hull will bring the max range to.
Will be taking Mandy on a Galactic tour for sure. Powerplay also looks much better. Fdev did drop hints previously to the effect that exploration game play might get something so perhaps we should wait?...
another great video from the Buur pit Also have plans to head out into the black for a while once the Mandalay gets into our hands. Think it'll be nice to dart around for a bit beyond Colonia and then circle back to the Bubble to cash in.
First rate as always, thank you for keeping us all informed. Looks like I will be adding to my garage . Time to say goodby to the Asp and the lightweight Krait. 07 Cmdr.
Another great update from the Burr Pit, I love the positive spin on these updates as it keeps me enthused to try new things in game. It sounds like there will be interesting interaction between power play and the BGS and I'm keen to get my hands on a Mandalay.
12:02 easy there Clarkson! Seriously, this will be my birthday ship. I can't get back in my Remlock suit until November but really looking forward to this. Videos will follow, assuming I am not having too much fun to edit them! o7 CMDR Burr, great vid as always.
As a _very_ independent Commander, I've only seen more negatives than positives in Powerplay. Most people see the fancy modules and the cash, I see flight restrictions and unprovoked attacks from "enemy" powers and their minions. Being of an exploratory bent in the first place, I don't see much value in heaping Bubble level responsibilities on my soon to be Deep-in-The-Black life. I'm much more invested in what's over the next hill, than what Politicians say or do. I have enough of that IRL. _More_ than enough. Deep space exploration, though, is my Jam. The impending release of a sexy new ship to gaze at unknown stars from has me very excited. A long jump range means I can flit about the Rim of the galaxy, where stars are few and far between, to see things never seen before. That's a feeling that humanity hasn't had since the Graf Zepplin went around the world and flew over places that had never been seen from the air. Let that sink in a minute. Imagine _that_ feeling. That's what I'm chasing: To be the First, _and possibly only,_ person to see a new vista, a new sky, a new form of life. 28 October can't get here fast enough.
Thank you for the bit on the PP2.0 -- I've seen a couple other content creators videos, and none of them talked about it, just the new ship. Looking forward to the new pp2. didn't play much of the first version of it.
The main problems that I personally had with old Powerplay that caused me to give up on it were: 1. the "optimal" move was oftentimes to do nothing. To avoid expanding. To just maintain the current status quo. To just sit there and be boring. 2. When the rare occasion did arise that the optimal move was do actually do something, the majority of the Powerplay communities were run by RP'ers who had, for the most part, all agreed not to take any action against each other. There were a few outliers here and there, but for the most part if you wanted to affect Powerplay you had to try on your own. With the way it was structured, trying anything on your own was an exercise in futility. If both of those problems are fixed, then I may try again. If not... /shrug ... probably not the game mode for me
Once I got my head around Powerplay, by using a couple of online tutorials to realise that the mechanics were simple, but the in-game information and interface were convoluted, I hauled cargo to get prismatic shields for my fleet, enjoyed flipping systems in the process, and then never went back to it, as I didn't need anything else from it. I'm definitely more inclined to revisit, now that 2.0 is coming. What I am truly looking forward to, though, is the Mandalay. If I can engineer that to beat my exploration Anaconda, that I drive to sectors deep in the black on my carrier, I've no doubt I'll enjoy completing my journey to Elite V in exploration, even more. Then it will be back to the bubble to work at completing the move from Triple Elite to Triple Elite V. Good times ahead, in what remains my perfect game.
I don't know if this is relevant to the enforcers not interdicting but I have personally never been interdicted by Adjusters who hunt you after a defection either. And I have tried. I throttle down to 30km/s and let them get behind me and they just kind of weave about. I'm not sure if it's because they're not equipped with interdiction modules or are not coded to use them, or if there is some dynamic of the Adjusters being "clean" and not wanting to commit a crime (they still pick up a tiny nominal bounty when they start shooting you of course).
Yes, just the fact that you don’t have to jump from power to power to get all the rewards, is such a good addition. I hope it’s going to be fun to play
2.0 is definetly a significant improvement of its predecessor, oh and i have to engineer my ships now with these mats increase. So good to be back home :)
I would love it if they did something about the P shooters we have for weapons. They could really use some visual and audio oomph to make them seem more impactful
with all the cool features with these ships.. the moving engines, folding parts etc , i wish there was an outside view of the ship with a mini H.U.D so you could fly the ship and watch the animations better
So the Mandalay appears to be the ship I've been saving my arx for. If they launch it in the same way as they did the Type 8 and the Python MkII, I might just get there in time for buying an A-spec... Can hardly wait.
i love this game, moved from console to pc to play it and continue supporting it. we need planets with vegetation and base building feature, ship interiors. hell star citizen which is not even yet complete is already making those, and i have both games but i play this one 70% of my free time.
I did power play long enough to get my prismatic. Bought 3 of each size and quit power play. Haven't gone back since. With the changes coming it might actually make it fun to do. I also like that you can pick a power you like the story of and still have access to all the modules instead of having to pick the power you like or the module you like.
Wish they would add a new class of ships that are a size up from the Cutter and Corvette. A Sub-Capital Class would add a whole new ceiling for content. Starting with a Combat, Mining, and Cargo Variant of pilotable Sub Capitals.
I can't wait for the new powerplay update. Just got to decide if I'm backing Edmund Mahon or the new Alliance faction. I've done a fair share of the current powerplay system purely to unlock various modules (then bulk buy them for future ships) but I'm excited to dive in properly with this system and actually do actions to support my chosen power.
Not done exploration, been waiting on a ship id feel wold keep me entertained e ought while out in the black....this is on my purchase list! Power play will definitely be something ill dip my toes into given the improvement they are making. Small meaningful steps but the game is at a turning point.
I remember the promise of the original powerplay. It _sounds_ like PP2 might be more in line with that vision, at least from the perspective of 'choose your politic' (which really becomes pick the rewards that best match what you like to do). I never bothered with it cos of the potential hostiles - so can't be bothered with being chased around and distracted from whatever it is I actually _want_ to do. I can't even remember why I wanted (needed) prismatic shields now - but it was a 4+ week wait and unclear what was needed. Hopefully the new one explains everything well and there'll be a clear option to 'yeah, nah, don't like it let me go back to being neutral' without being endlessly harassed. Having done assassination missions, I well expect that to happen to deserters....just needs to be a limited time, or maybe one ship explosion so we can jump in a Sidey and deal with it and move on.
5:37 apologies if this gets addressed later, just wanted to ask for clarification on the mining bonus for example. The galnet news digest clip for power play briefly showed the rewards list for three different powers (LYR, Pranav, and the new alliance person) showing that each power had a _different_ commodity/activity bonus, more or less in line with how it works now. For example LYR boosted exploration scans and seemingly only those (maybe a trade thing? Forgot), Pranav boosted exobiology, and new alliance person boosted mining. As the list seen there wasn’t the full list of rewards, are you instead implying that perhaps all powers would eventually give the same rewards, just at differing unlock ranks? Because if so that’s amazing, I was not looking forward to having to choose a power solely for what gameplay activity they happened to benefit and then weigh it against the vastly different scales of profit activities give… (for example, iirc LYR increased planetary scans by +120%. Pranav increased bio by 50%. If that’s multiplicative with first discovery bonus then a single stratum’s 50% bonus of +50m already outweighs multiple newly discovered systems scans due to exobiology being so much more lucrative….)
YES I'm definitely planning a 4 to 5 months expedition into the black, at the end of the week after getting the new ship, date the 2nd November 8pm GMT Brittish time From Bernard's Star, planned destination kept under wraps carrier KOTE Mr Bumpkins
The most important thing for the powerplay is what they changed regarding its availability from modes. If you can still haul stuff from A to B and capture systems in Private and Solo, without suffering any downsides to it, that would be a shame again. I myself was a PvP pilot for quite a long time, and ofcourse I ganked people. So if you can't kill off the competition that is undermining your power's system or strenghtening his' - this is again becomes a SoloPrivate hauler competition system, not truly Powerplay. The whole PvP accent to it gets narrowed down to who hauls more than who, somewhere in the background. I really hope they thought about it too and made some changes, atleast introduced some balance changes like for example "-x% impact from doing powerplay action from modes others that Open" or making it Open-only altogether. Fingers crossed, I have my doubts the powerplay will even be used without those changes.
Can’t wait to try PPlay 2. I loved the original idea, but it’s implementation was such a downer. Couldn’t even get myself to get any of the modules. Oh, and open-only, please.
New PP is an improvement, at the very least it can't be worse.... all of the toys regardless of power, actually loading the pamphlets using a regular loading interface are enought for that. However, if most of the bubble is inaccessible if you are aligned with the wrong PP it might not be a very good thing. We'll see.
I don’t think the systems will be inaccessible. It will just be more dangerous, and that’s a good thing. It will make bubble movement a real challenge.
From what Burr told us it seems like you just need to avoid scans from enemy enforcement ships, which is the same mechanic now in 1.0, asides from the 1.0 enforcers not caring unless you have a bounty or vouchers for their power.
I've never had any interest in PP 1, but I'll probably get my big bubble commander involved with PP 2. It actually looks fun. I never use anything but forward view in my current bio hunter ship, so the Mandalay will work well. I just hope the landing footprint is small enough for mountain-thriving Fungoida. If not, it will be a special-use-only explorer in my fleet.
I've been informed that the replacement of any of the original modual's on a prebuilt ship are gone until one is at the rebuy screen, which then either can choose between that of the original, meaning before replacing the mod they did or paying the cost of the mod they lost in the action that caused them to be at the rebuy. Making the rebuy considerably less, but a price to pay neverless. In the video's rencently release by one of you content provider's. He stated that one can purchase the Mandalay in one of two form's. A basic with the standard "E" graded modual's or the upgraded to "A" modual's at a higher cost. If a mod being replaced as one would when switching from an "E" to that of an "A". The "E" is gone, and at the rebuy screen, one will have the choice of going back to the "E" graded ship for free or paying the price for upgrading from the "E" to an "A". The modual's that come with the ship can be engineered with no lost at the rebuy screen, but because an upgrade form an "E" to an "A", requries a replacement. There will be a price to be paid for doing so.
I hope they do something for exploration. I been to SAG A twice and got bored then the thargoids came turning me into a soldier for humanity, Now that the war is winding down im not sure if i can go back to civie scientist again.
My ARX stand ready. :) Regarding PowerPLay 2.0, will my current progress withthe Federation by reset? The Corvette is a ship I've been working towards for a while now and it would be a shame to have to restart my progress.
I am an explorer so the new ship looks very good. I don’t really understand Engineering so hopefully it will be pretty decent out of the box. I’m not really interested in Powerplay as it seems it’s just for those that want to shoot each other. I have never fired my weapons in Elite Dangerous and I don’t want to get into all that. Perhaps I am missing something and there is a route through Powerplay for those that aren’t interested in combat? But, much like real life, I prefer not to join any factions anyway! Great video though, so thanks for doing it.
Not sure if this is going to work. The power play 1.0 forced players to play for all of them to get their weapons. When you only need one that’ll mean players will gravitate toward the faction that is strongest and eventually all the others will die off completely.
The moment I first heard the possibility a few weeks ago of System Security deciding to shoot at me for being pledged to a rival Power but otherwise doing nothing wrong, every intention I had to engage in Powerplay 2.0 completely evaporated. I'm not making myself a pariah in 75% of the colonized galaxy just to unlock some modules and get passives I don't care about. Literally everything else about Powerplay 2.0 is amazing and I love it - but that _one_ singular decision is a hard deal-breaker. Unless and until they change this, I'll thankfully take PP2.0 unpledging me from my current Power and never think about the system again. If I wanted to get griefed and ganked, I'd play in Open.
I still think you shouldn't be able to affect powerplay in solo. Not saying remove the benefits and features from solo / pg players, just saying that the grand galactic power struggle should be limited to open only.
As someone who has played Elite exclusively in solo, from the beginning (1200 hours and counting) I completely agree. I enjoy roaming the Bubble, doing a bit of this, and a bit of that, and as long as I remain a law abiding citizen I don't expect system security to come shooting me just because I'm aligned to another faction.
I like exploring in my Diamondback Explorer but I really want to give mandy a run for her money. As for Powerplay, I have never joined any faction (I am only 2 months old in Elite) but I'm not sure that I like the idea of the fact that if you are allied to one and you visit a system that another runs they wanna run you out! (did I understand that right?)
In powerplay 2, will the explorer coming from black, with tons of data, be attacked by npcs just because he is not part of their power? Does it mean the starting and end points of expeditions must be carefully selected in the future?
i’d kill to have a carrier group as a player we already have the carrier just need the smaller mega ships or quarter sized carriers like the fleet groups do here in video
I don't know if I'm convinced about Power Play 2.0. There's, such a big fanfare over fixing something that should have been fixed years ago. Will it give the expected return on investment. In other words, does anyone care about power play 2.0? Personally I would say not but we will see. Conversely people do get excited about new ships. And I'm hoping for base building as a new feature.
The seamless transition to becoming Jeremy Clarkson there was spot on. lol
Haha. Recognized it watching a 2nd time.
I love the movement of those wing engines when rolling.
Being able to look down past my feet is one of the things I like about the AspX.
Thats why my favourite Explorer is my Type 6. I have my little box up to 60.1ly laden jumprange. The view from cockpit is fantastic.
Awesome guys, just what I needed after a hectic week. Tea, biscuits and a BP special report.
Diamond Backs as Raptors... searching POI on planets instead of firing probes.
...wouldn't that technically be CSP?
yeah that would be neat. And maybe you could use those fighters as response for operations in that system instead of system defense, or in addition to. Might be cool
Would give some real teeth to PP2.0 and make the Galaxy feel truly lived.
Ghost giraffe saw you on stream parked on the strong hold carrier yesterday.
That would be awesome.
Heading into the black as soon as I can get my hands on a Mandalay. Oh, hang on, I might want some Powerplay modules first - Oh the indecision!
Mandalay looks like the stealth jet controlled by the A.I. "EDI" from the movie "Stealth."
Eagerly waiting for the word about ship interiors :)
Another excellent update. Loving the work being put into the “beautiful game”.
I thought that was soccer? Lol
If you could kick a ball on a moon watching a ringed planet rise over the horizon whilst orbiting a neutron star it would be.
I'm liking the small-ish landing footprint of the Mandalay. Can't wait to fly it.
Can't wait to get my hands on the Mandalay!
Testers have gotten it to 91 max stripped down, 82 or so usable.
91?!?!?!?!? Damn, my dolphin has a competitor....
If we can tweak the heat distribution to close on what my dolphin does, I’ll be sold!
Will be taking Mandy on a Galactic tour for sure.
Powerplay also looks much better.
Fdev did drop hints previously to the effect that exploration game play might get something so perhaps we should wait?...
I’m excited for this update. Thanks for the great info as always!
The greatest Elite Channel....In the woorld. Very good impression btw
Thank you :)
As usual, an excellent episode! Appreciate you two! :)
Excellent taster/preview, thank you.
another great video from the Buur pit
Also have plans to head out into the black for a while once the Mandalay gets into our hands. Think it'll be nice to dart around for a bit beyond Colonia and then circle back to the Bubble to cash in.

This update will definitely bring me back to Elite!
I’ve been waiting for a medium class explorer for a long time. So glad I can finally get one!
Asp x is exacly that lol😂
I love that red paint job.

The Mandalay Reminds Me Of The 'Milano' From 'Guardian's Of The Galaxy' Which To Me Is A Good Thing🥰
cant wait man, everything looks so nice

Yes, just the fact that you don’t have to jump from power to power to get all the rewards, is such a good addition. I hope it’s going to be fun to play
Hopefully the "Concord" cannon is not something that makes you lose 400M credits every time you deploy it lol.
It punctures fuel cells - ooh that's not nice...😢
2.0 is definetly a significant improvement of its predecessor, oh and i have to engineer my ships now with these mats increase. So good to be back home :)

I like how CMRD Burr refuses to get excited about the long-requested and likely never-coming feature that shall not be named
My fleet carrier bridge crew prepping for a long eco biology trip with the new Mandalay
looks like a Goa'uld death glider, and i'm ALL for it
Finally. Power Play that seems logical. And something I'm willing to give a shot

11:56 Was that your attempt at a Jeremy Clarkson impression?
"Speed has never killed anyone....suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you!"
"Haaaaamooond!"
I am waiting for the Mandalay, My current explore/ jump ship is the DBX with 70.4 out fitted and 75 lights stripped.
The Mandalay has thrust vectoring?? That should be VERY fun with my twin VKB Gladiator joysticks. Can't wait till they release it.
Pop-up headlights?! - ok, now I'm considering buing it... :)
Wish they would add a new class of ships that are a size up from the Cutter and Corvette. A Sub-Capital Class would add a whole new ceiling for content. Starting with a Combat, Mining, and Cargo Variant of pilotable Sub Capitals.

Maybe ED will finally start making more ships more often
As a casual (playing a bit, then pause for a year) i look forward to something new to do and unlock (other than engineer grind). 😊
Thanks Clarkson. The ‘Top’ Burr Pit?
My ARX stand ready. :)
Regarding PowerPLay 2.0, will my current progress withthe Federation by reset?
If they only added an optional helmet view to on-foot VR..... i'd reinstall and start buying Arx.
I was hoping you’d include the clip when Bro Sab blew you up 🤣
Hey CMDR Burr…in the video your FC is parked with other FCs around it…how did you manage to do that??
I've already got all of the modules offered by all of the current Powers. Not sure what PP 2.0 will offer me.....
O7 all
Your video is making me realize that I kind of want a bright green Keelback but alas FDev has been *removing* such things from the store.
I still think you shouldn't be able to affect powerplay in solo. Not saying remove the benefits and features from solo / pg players, just saying that the grand galactic power struggle should be limited to open only.
I'm inclined to agree. It certainly seems from what Fdev have said publicly that they're open to that.
Shame it’s delayed by a week. But understandable
I think the only question I have, is approx how fast in normal space is it?
With lazy engineering I'm boosting to 560
591 tops it looks like.
they delay to patch time? Good I can get PP module now
Oh never mind. Viva de Princess
how much fuel did it use at 4200x? it looks sweet ty for the info
Nothing of consequence
time to come back to elite dangerous it would seem : > *dusting of my hotas*
What happens when you resist the powerplay faction tho?
alright, it's 10/22, where's my effin ship?
Prismatics, Pacifiers and Packhounds all from the same place?
Aye CMDR, which is gonna be good, just need them to actually deliver the update on schedule…
i’d kill to have a carrier group as a player we already have the carrier just need the smaller mega ships or quarter sized carriers like the fleet groups do here in video
like i wouldn’t mind paying arx if they threw it in as a cosmetic or if they give them some functionality
Im assuming due to the pushback of the release date of Acendency that also means the Mandalay is also getting a push back to that date :(
1:09 what kind of GPU do you need for that kind of clarity?
Rheeney films our stuff. You'll find both our PC specs here:

hey you said 3rd out of 4 ships..... theres the type-8 and, the mandaley.....what is the other one?
Python mk 2
@@TheBuurPit ah thx… blame it on space madness
Would’ve been dope to experience this if they didn’t just give up on consoles
I don't know if I'm convinced about Power Play 2.0. There's, such a big fanfare over fixing something that should have been fixed years ago. Will it give the expected return on investment. In other words, does anyone care about power play 2.0? Personally I would say not but we will see. Conversely people do get excited about new ships. And I'm hoping for base building as a new feature.
