    Thanks Ana, you are great. I am working on baby alligators and some askeleton Trex (sure not use there), but I try different approaches for some details (in ZBrush)

    Very useful information thank you. I think you kind of used a bad example for vdms because the same things can be achieved with displacement maps and alphas. So my question is why would i bother using vdms that need more resolution? I think there are better uses that can showcase how powerful vdms are in general than that example. But still thanks for sharing

    • @dasnico13
      @dasnico13 3 роки тому

      with a brush you have more control. and these are 3D alphas.

    is it not possible in zbrush to change the position of a brush if it does not sit correctly?
    In PS, for example, I can still do this with the space key pressed down. This would save a few clicks.

      ouh yeah i miss that too, even in Substance Painter i can rotate my brush to fit some angles...sad that the number one sculpting software dosent have this logic feature

    • @musashidanmcgrath
      @musashidanmcgrath 3 роки тому

      You can use drag dot instead of drag rectangle. Can be difficult to control rotation, but it's another option.

    Fun little thing i learned on accident; If you use a morph target with a VDM, Zbrush will try to 'snap' that morph while its applying it, making overlapping VDMs act *really* strange. This is pretty well known thing. Whats not pretty well known is you can work this behavior into your workflow to get a specific result. I pretty much only do this for scales (like the ones made here) but if you make a simple scale as a VDM, and use a morph target, if you place a scale very close to another one, it will 'pinch' the area between them, allowing for a lot of variation and very tightly packed scales just with one single brush. very handy for dinosaurs and other reptiles!
    I just put up a video showing showing it in action ua-cam.com/video/FVcGGrjpTd0/v-deo.html

    If I'm using vdm and imm brushes that I bought. Should I be putting those details in after I z remesh and am on the final subdivision? Or do you need to further reccorect topology after using these types of brushes?

    I wish that when you draw out a VDM that it would mask itself as you go.
