Yeah, I live in Iowa and it’s supposed to rain for the next two weeks... but I just got my skates and I really want to practice 🥺. This video was very helpful
This is PERFECT timing. I just got my skates this weekend and I’ve been learning how to skate in my kitchen bc I’m too self conscious to learn outside lol
Don't let self confidence stop you. Every single skater had to learn and started off by falling too. We all get it. And honestly, who cares what strangers think. You're getting out and trying something new and that is amazing!
@@ainoaguy My pleasure. I've struggled with self confidence and the anxiety it caused, most of my life. I spent so much time worrying what people would think of me that I gave up a LOT of experiences. I'm now 45 and a few years back I realized that there are only a VERY few people who's opinion of me actually matters and those people are myself, my husband, my daughters,my parents and the 2 best friends that I literally met in preschool. It was the most liberating moment of my life when I realized that if those folks supported me then I was truly free. Now I embarrass my daughters regularly when start dancing in a store or singing to them in the car with the windows down lol. Please, get out there and do what makes you happy. I've fallen more times than I can count and no one has EVER laughed. Actually, I have had SO many kind people who would stop and help me up or show me how to prevent falling again.
Thank you!!! I'm a chubbier girl and not ready to outside and practice with my new stakes but knowing i can work towards building up that self confidence in my skating indoors is an amazing help hun

A solution to avoid tile floors. Go to the nearest Lowes or Home Depot store and purchase a 1/4 inch thick plywood, depending on the size of your s space. I purchased 3 4x8ft panels.🙌🏽👏🏽
I've been practicing T stops, bubbles, and toe stop drills while I do dishes or cook in my tiny kitchen. I can also do like a half manual...idk what it would really be called, where you lift one toe up and the other skate is fully on the floor. lol
This is gold! I don't have many suitable places close by to skate and the weather is not the best every day, so I've been practicing in my kitchen where I can do two small strides at best (and I've got tiles too). But I'm a beginner so I've practiced getting up, stopping (plow and toe stop), some bubbles, picking up foot, picking up front wheels, and just getting comfortable with wheels on my feet. I get scared easily so having the counter there to "catch me" is helping, I don't even need to be holding it in most cases, but the mental "support" is doing wonders. Now you've added several more things I can try on days where I work long or the weather sucks. I think I'm gonna learn transitions next. Thank you!
That’s awesome! Good for you. I would recommend getting some ¼ inch thick plywood sheets at Lowe’s or another hardware store to solve the tile grout problem!
Thank you for this one! We're in a super rainy week where I live, so I'm mostly trapped indoors. I just built myself a little 4x6 "skate floor" to lay in my living room, so small space drills are a very good thing!
Love it. Was wondering if I could practice indoors. I want to get comfortable enough to do some tricks. Thanks for the great suggestions. Right on time.
Yesterday I got my first pair of skates and it went better than expected. I’m so happy. I’ve done the bubble thing forwards and backwards and also step up and down the side walk. So hyped to see progress. Your videos are super helpful.Thank you! I’m no going to practice stopping in my kitchen
Thank you for this video! I’m in Chicago and just started skating this year - all my practice for the next several months is going to have to be indoors!
Thank you for this!! I live in New England and it has been cold, snowy, icy, and salty out-- and only going to get worse from here, but I don't want to stop skating while I wait for it to get warm again!
This video was sooo helpful!! I've been slowly learning how to roller skate and I'm not confident enough to skate in an open area, so doing some of these exercises in my office has been really improving my basic roller skating skills, thank you!! :D
I just bought my first pair of skates and haven't skated since high school, but your videos, and the way you explain things, are seriously the best I've seen so far. I really appreciate all the time you take to share this info, because I really feel like I've learned so much!
I love love love love this! I just got my fundaes yesterday and it was RAINING!!!! I rolled up my living room rug, moved some furniture and had my own little small space practice session! The weather was better today so I got to take them outside and all I can say is, "I'm in love". I won't say I love them more than my radar energy 57s because those were my very first true love wheel, but dang....these fundaes are something special. Thank you for your amazing videos as well as your never fail advice! ☮️♥️🐈
wow SO glad this just came on after the last video of yours i was watching! i just got my new skates and i;m still waiting for my knee /wrist pads to come in the mail. im so scared of shredding my skin outside, but i have been DYING to get skating! i just learned how to do transitions in the past hour just skating back and forth down my hall, this video is so useful for figuring out my next move to practice! thank u! i have a feeling im going to be relying on your videos a LOT as i keep going!
Rebel, you're the best teacher!! I've been working on The Zero, backwards strut, a few different types of transitions, Crazy Legs, Heel Toe manuals, a variation of the Zero, and practicing skating on one foot in a straight line (I skate in a narrow hallway, so I do a lot of back and forth stuff, lol!) Oh and Slalom skating too! 😁😎
Ok!!! I absolutely love your content!!!! You definitely rock! Got my new skates for Christmas and I will be watching your videos to learn. I will post an update shortly
Thanks for this! I got my pair of skates a few weeks ago but I'm currently pregnant so I'm not trying to take them outside right now 😂 but I've definitely tried them on in my kitchen to get a feel for them, so I can totally do this to prepare for actual skating later 😊
I absolutely love this. I'd love more drills and workout moves to practice while on your skates in small spaces. I can't skate outside right now and I'm living for small space skate videos. 🙌🏽💕🦋
This is going to come in handy when my skates come in. I haven't skated in 20+ years and wasn't even really confident in it as a kid so that, on top of it being 100F outside every day, has me thinking that I would do well to just practice indoors until I feel comfortable.
I haven’t skated in 30 years (and want to get back into it), but this is what I did as a kid. Found an old pair of my moms skates and would spend hours rolling around the kitchen. It’s some of my best “weird shit kids do” memories!!
Thank you so much for this! My skates will be arriving in the middle of winter and it gets cold 🥶 I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos to learn more!
What? You’re still Lockdown? Why?? We (USA) haven’t been in lockdown in over a year. Then it went to wearing masks everywhere. Now everyone does whatever they want to.

Thank you for this tutorial my floors are exactly like yours and I was afraid to try anything but this video inspired me to try. Where did you get your cute sweats I love them?!!!
My kitchen is teeny too. I love skating inside the house. Vacuuming on wheels is special. Helps with spontaneous stopping and balance. Cooking while skating is fun. Don’t recommend moving anything hot while on wheels though. Dropping it can suck on many levels.
This was a great video! I’m just now jumping on the skate bandwagon and also have just a small, tiled space to use. The tiles aren’t laid very evenly so I got a pack of that vinyl plank flooring. It makes a nice little skate spot in my dining nook. Thanks for all the great tips here!
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a video about plates. The different kinds of materials they’re made out of, the different brands and what type of plates are best for what type of skating. I haven’t found a whole lot out there on this subject. I’ve been trying to research what kind of plates are best for park skating, more specifically what the best brands are so I can ask for the best for Christmas 😉
Wow! Were you a ballerina at one point? Your turnout is ridiculously amazing. (Hopefully you’re turning out equally at the hips to protect those knees! 😅) Loved all of this, Rebel. You have lots of things I haven’t seen in similar videos.
