- Опубліковано 15 чер 2024
- In this video I am sharing my current Go To Drills that I have been working on in my small indoor space. I personally am always looking for new things to learn and drill as well as variations of those moves. I thought it might be helpful if I shared what I am currently doing and my take on how to do them. Please let me know if you have any questions. See you all again soon!

yooo these drills really does help..its like once you start doing them your muscle memory just does it naturally
So great to hear. Thank you for commenting! 💓
Tonight was my first time on roller skates since I was a teenager. I'm 50 now.
Forgot how much fun it was.... good to see that it's picking up popularity again!
That’s awesome I’m so glad you got to enjoy it again. 💓
Same here I'm 47 :)
I’m a couple decades younger, and everyone my age is too afraid to even try. Thank you for continuing to live past 35!
Same, i'm 60.. lol.
44 and started last month...having so much fun
Just got my skates today. Honestly even just standing straight in them without toppling backwards is hard!
Congratulations! That is totally normal. It takes some time to get used to. Be easy on yourself and everyone starts at the beginning. Practice is progress. 💜🦋
Lol this video is not realistic for beginners
@@krisrodgers9442 i disagree
i've been stuck for months not being comfortable stepping around so this heleped plenty
only thing i'd fix is the order of what to practice first, it helps a lot though
I’m a new learner and my teacher advised to keep my knees bent at the beginning, to prevent sliding backwards. That advise has helped me a ton and I haven’t fallen backwards since then. Hope this helps ☺️
Watch Dirty School of Skate. Deb teaches you basics, safety, how to fall. Learn the basics first. You don't want to hit your head or land on your tailbone. This gal is interesting, but learn basics 1st. Good luck.
Great wee mini bite tutorials - thanks for sharing. You've given this 51 year old novice a boost.
Thank you so much! I’m in my last year of my 30’s. Not far behind you. 🙌🔥
Hi. I'm 54 and tomorrow will be my 14th day rolling. I will try to do what's shown here in this video, there are a lot of things to try, so I've just suscribed. Thanks for the channel. I live in Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
Happy Happy Birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day and found some of these moves helpful. Thank you for your support. 💜
Really appreciate you slowing it down to show the footwork. Thanks!!
So glad it was helpful! It really helps me when things are slowed down too! I am such a visual learner and it gives my brain a chance to register. Lol! Thank you for letting me know! 💜🦋
I love these drills and your style!! I started 2 weeks ago by watching Dirty's School for her complete beginner tips. I took an in person skate class to get my basic glide and balance (knees bent!). Now I'm following up with these drills to push me a bit at home and I'm already way more comfortable on my skates! Thank you beautiful!
So excited for you and your skate journey! Thank you for your kind words and support. 🙌💓
This was really helpful to adjust to skates after a long periods of not skating. Helpful little exercises very good for a bit of pre conditioning. #1 is great for a warm up.
So glad this was helpful. Thank you for commenting. 💜
Wow man. Not only are you absolutely gorgeous, you're a very intuitive teacher.
Thanks teach' Tani.
Awe thank you so much! 💓
🤙
I’ve just started learning roller skating and I’m going to try a few of these! I used to be an ice skater and it’s a little bit different but balancing is pretty much the same! Ty for the drills.
This is very helpful for me as a beginner shy to practice on open space 😅 thanks for this tutorial
I just got skates! So excited.
Yeay! 🎉Congratulations! 🙌💜🦋
Me too but I get really self conscious skating outside how r u finding it so far?

I love your videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! ❤️🧡💛
Thank you so much for the encouraging comment. 💜🦋
I think I found what I was looking for
You are awesome! Giggled at the hair bit at beginning lol.. cute:)
Hello everyone, please let me know if you want clarification on any of these moves. And also is the lighting off? I thought my face looked a little funky. 🤣🤷🏻♀️
You look gorgeous as usual. Lighting looks fine. Another great video. Thankyou. X
@@missdoobs Oh goodness, thank you! Looked a little off on my computer but there was no way I was going to redo the whole thing. Lol! Thanks for letting me know.
I loved the way you slowed down the moves so I could see them.... super helpful! I think the lighting and visibility was good. *** Really appreciate the camera angle from above! *** as well. Well done
Just came back from skating a few hours ago tried a few of the drills I was having way more fun this time and started to skate back wards with the bubbles slowly thought and got the forward motion going and so subbed on both my channels thank you for video I feel I got better today even tho I fell about 3 times
I absolutely love to hear this. Makes me so happy that it was fun. That’s what it is all about. And falling is completely normal. I fall and even the best fall. Thank you for commenting and for your support. 💜🦋
Great start to the wheel barrel
Omgggf I hadn't been able to bubble before, but your slowdown and the muscle use break down and the feeling on the food definitely did it!!!
Yessss! I love to hear this. Great job and thank you for letting me know. 💜🦋
These drills are awesome! Thank you so much
Thank you. I’m so glad they were helpful! 💓
Finally practiced all the way through! Thank you for the POV shots and great descriptions. You are my Roku basement go-to now!

Thanks! Just discovered your channel, and I'm loving it! Gotta see all your videos

I just started skating again and was like "I wonder if there is drills i can do in my tiny room" and literally as i was about to look it up, this video is suggested to me lol everythings on the internet. Thank you for this, its super helpful.
I swear the internet reads our minds. Lol! Hope these drills worked out good for you. 💜
Thank you for these!!! I got my skates a couple weeks ago; went to the rink today. I’m mostly focused on just being comfortable falling & in general skating & using the right posture (hips/knees down in a squat, core tight, face forward). But I definitely need drills for more familiarity and stability in my skates!
You have the mindset on building that foundation first! 🙌🔥 Thank you for letting me know this was helpful. 💓
This is just what I needed! Thanks for sharing!

😱 it took me forever to get the double barrel roll. I was like “lift front back front...” haha. I got it 💕 Wonderful. Thanks for the video.
Lol! It really is confusing. If I don’t do it for a while I seriously have to relearn it. Haha! Great job getting it, that’s awesome! 🙌🔥
Can you do that move with toe stops? I feel like mine hit the floor

I tried it I almost fell but I kept my balance it really helps!
These are super effective drills! The barrel roll is great to practice shifting weight 🤙🏼

Thank you this was so helpful and exactly what I needed to able to practice in my living room. And now I can do an admittedly sloppy barrel roll but it’s the first skate dance move I’ve been able to do!

got my skates today. will definitely try these once I get my protective gear xD
Love that you are waiting for your protective gear! 🙌💓
wooow these helped so much!!! I can even skate in one foot for a few seconds 🥴 thanks you so much
So happy to hear that! Thank you for letting me know. 💜
Thank you for making this video. Sad to say, as a person who learned to forward skate as a kid, I never learned how to backward skate except a little bit on my own at the rink. I appreciate these exercises you do in this video. I will try them when I go back to the rink. The other trouble I believe I have maybe also because I have speed skates-which I love, but they do not have a heel on them. Wondering if this is adding to my loss of control when I attempt to backward skate. Thanks again!
Thank you! Backwards skating definitely takes some time to get used to! Bending knees will help with balancing correctly in order to remain upright. I know it helped me a lot with roller blades. 💜
LOVE YOU!! BAD ASS!!!
Love you! And thank you so much. 💜🦋
👍😍
Thank you!💜🦋
She makes it look so easy. If I try this, guess where I end up ...
You’ll get it! Roller skating is tough stuff. 💜
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama It sure is. I used to rollerskate in my teens and experienced no problems at all. I raced with the boys and although I never won, I gave them a run for their money. Now some 50 years later it's very different. Rollerskating is definitely not like riding a bike.
Great video! Love those toe guards! Where did you get those?!I notice you don’t have toe stops, though. Wow!
Thank you! These are from Rollerstuff on Etsy. And yes I took my Toe Stops out and put in Jam Plugs. It helps to have them this way when trying to do more rhythm and jam style skating. 💜🦋
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama thanks!
For a total begginer, do you suggest having the wheels a bit tightened to not roll so much maybe?
For 78A wheels for example and trying these moves outdoors on a tennis court?
I tried this today, the basic moves, and it's really helping me. Where can I find more of this lady?
Awesome! So glad it is helping! I’m going to be doing an outdoor drills video soon. Is there anything in particular you would like a tutorial on? 💜
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama You bet it's helping. I've been battling my head off and watched numerous videos and none of them provided me with any progress. I was about to give up when I came across your work, tried it, and immediately felt encouraged. What would I like a tutorial on ... let me see, stopping (forward and backward) and safe falling. I have knee, wrist, and elbow pads, but my biggest fear is to fall on my butt or one of my hips and breaking one. A sprained wrist or bloody knee heals quickly, but hurting a hip can have serious repercussions. Any tips on that? BTW I found your other videos, you're really great.
@@connymanero4649 Thank you again!
Here is a video on a few stops that help me. ua-cam.com/video/x38XqRJcDC8/v-deo.html It may not cover everything for you but hopefully it’s a start.
There are hip and butt padded shorts that a lot of people use like these rstyle.me/cz-n/fgff3sdcjax that you could check out. I think they are well worth it.
And the falling one is tough. It is so important to learn this but I don’t want to give out the wrong information. I learned how to fall so young that I don’t really remember it, but fortunately my body does. Dirty Deborah on UA-cam might have some good videos on this and is certainly more qualified. 💓
Ima do these in a bit
🙌❤️
Thanks !! I will try for sure. :)
You are so welcome. I hope the video helps. 💜🦋
Hope this isn't a silly question, but could this be effective/helpful for inline skates too? There's a heat wave this week where I am, and I'm not too keen on heading outside right now to skate ha
Not a silly question at all. You can definitely do some movements on inlines. Probably not all but you could always make your own adjustments. Any type of strength training is helpful too and I have a few of those videos as well. We are having heatwaves and hazardous air quality due to smoke where I’m at so I can totally relate to being stuck inside. 💜
I so far know how to simple stand and inchworm my way to move, so I really wanted to know if I can go a little faster than my pet turtle Harry 😅
Anyway this was a very good practice for me to get faster so thx!
Lol! A turtles pace is better than rushing! Keeps you safe. 💜
I have a question! Does truck tightness affect your ability to do bubbles? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Total and complete noob here. But subbed! I love your explanation of things!
Thank you for subbing! Not a dumb question at all. Actually a really good one. Yes, when they are loosened it can help with turning. But the more tight they are the more stable. So you can start gradually loosening until you find that sweet spot that works for you. And over time adjust to fit your advancements. Also bubbles has a lot to do with muscle activation and mind muscle connection. They can be really tricky at first and that is totally normal. 💜🦋
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama thank you so much for your reply! This helps so much!
So off topic but I’m in love with butterflies where can I find those pillows

Which wheels do you use for slippery tiles? I have Moxi Skates Rainbow Riders stock wheels. I notice that it's very slippery on tiles and even on concrete road. I'm currently practicing on rubberized jogging track and it's pretty much working
Radar came out with some new outdoor dance wheels that have good grip called “Crush” (small wheels!), they would be good as long as you are on smooth surfaces. I also like Radar Energy 57’s but they don’t have as much grip.
How do your skates not make any noise when turning? I think I’m doing something wrong, I practice on my driveway with gummy outdoor wheels so that must be why. Anything I can do to prevent the annoying sound?
Wheels absolutely make a difference! But mine do still make noise. Overtime you get better at moving them with less drag but for me it isn’t completely avoidable. At least not yet anyway. Lol! 💜
well, that's better than actual highheels.
Lol! 💜
Can you do this with toe stoppers?
It does depend on the size of your toe stopper for some of the moves. I found mine got in the way but when you are beginning a toe stopper is helpful. 💜
To do the crossover do your stoppers have to be smaller than regular stoppers
As long as they don’t stick out too much you should be able to do the crossovers with toe stops. 💜
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama ty❤️
What is durometer of your wheels?
Very beautiful lady and very helpful instruction demonstration
I just got skates for the first time and when I try turning, leaning or the sticky skate I can’t do it, my skates only want to go straight. I can only turn if I lift them off the ground otherwise they feel kinda sticky and like grinds on the floor. It’s so frustrating.
hey! have you tried loosening your trucks just a tad bit? that should solve your issue! usually when you put on your skates fresh out of the box, they are like “factory” tight lol. loosening the trucks just a teeny bit so the truck/wheel bearing wiggles just the smallest amount should do the trick. hope this helps! :)
Loosening trucks and your wheels can help a ton. New skates usually need a little adjusting at first. It can also depend on what type of skates you have. 💜
Do you have on knee pads?. If so what brand?
I do not in this video but I have a set of Smith Scabs that I did a little review on. I will wear protective gear when I know I am trying something new or out of my comfort zone. 💜🦋
ua-cam.com/video/-4h4rW6pGnc/v-deo.html
Do you need to loosen the anything before doing any of these skills I just got skates today
Congratulations! That’s so exciting. I would check your wheels. Make sure they spin. And then if you have never been on skates start out very slow and work on the ability to just stand upright. Keep knees bent and wear protective gear and helmet. 💓🦋
Do you keep your trucks loose or tight?
Can you say if this make a difference ?
I have personally loosened my trucks to what’s comfortable for me and it can definitely make a difference! It takes a little bit of trial and error to find that sweet spot but you can just loosen them a little bit at a time until it feels good and always retighten if you don’t feel secure or too wobbly. 💜
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama thank you so much
Your video helps a lot 🖤
Do you have any more drills I could practice???
I’m actually going to be uploading more drills soon! Until then I have a LOT on my Instagram instagram.com/tani.coy.rollermama/ 💓🦋
I live in an apartment. Can I practice on carpeting?
There are some things you can practice on carpet. Getting used to being in skates and higher up is helpful. Depending on how thick your carpet is though your wheels will have trouble rolling. 💜
Are your trucks loosened?
Yes they are. But I have no idea to what degree. Lol! 💜
Wait did the wheels switch mid-video haha
Lolol! Probably. I have to go back and watch but I did switch my wheels recently and sounds like something I would do.
Can i do this in rollerblades instead?
Some of the moves might be a bit tricky but you could always make your own personal drills that work based off of these. I never did much fancy stuff on roller blades. I just went fast and rode them for exercise. Lol! 💜
@@Tani.Coy.RollerMama ill try it out soon, thanks a lot!!, ❤️❤️
I have to say I’m really sad cause I’m almost 28 and never skated before, Im in a very small space and every time I try to learn I’m almost falling backwards into a sharp edge 😂
You are not alone! So many of us are starting later in our lives. Please be careful and a helmet and protective gear is a great idea. I hope you can get to a bigger space soon. 💜🦋
can you use basement, outside of building or a park. all i got so far .
🗣Keep your knees bend, don't look down.
I am making 44 on Friday. I was never skating before, I went out a few times and every time it was a failure. But I was practising every time some walking. Yesterday was may..... 5th or 6th time and...... I DID Bubbles! And I was even skating a little bit! Of course, I felt a few times. Don't give up, just put your wrist and elbow protection :-) If I succeed, everyone can do this :-)
I hope you didn't give up! I'm 29 and just starting :)

I keep hitting my leg in cross over 🤷🏻♂️. (Using inline skates)
I’m impressed you are doing these drills with inlines! 🙌 They will definitely function a bit differently. The way the wheels are set up on the bottom are longer than roller skates. They can crossover great outdoors with more space and movement. 💜
