Joe, I don’t know if you’ll ever read or hear of this message. I love your conversations with Elon Musk. You really allow him to show his extreme intelligence and his humour ; and humour is the greatest protection from hubris. The fact that he (unlike many AI programmers) understands that AI is a double edged sword, is a perfect example of this fact. But Joe, please don’t encourage a fight wager where Elon would risk replacing Facebook censorship model with his unique understanding the Free Speech is essential for a civilised, free society on X. You know the fight world Joe- and understand that such a wager could risk the one free speech platform existing on social media. The Western world desperately needs Elon himself, and free speech.

1:20:00 I think Elon is making a logical error here that in nearly ubiquitous. The oldest surviving form of writing is HIGHLY unlikely to be the first writing. To think that the very first writing would be laboriously chiseling into stone. No it wouldn't be. It likely would be sketching onto animal hides. Or wood. It's simply not feasible to record day to day essential information on stone. Think of it this way: How do you pay a laborer to chisel his own wages into stone, when his wages are less than the cost of recording them onto stone? In fact, chiseling into stone is a luxury and a conceit. We rarely do this ourselves today. until very recently, all our most important information was stored (for the last several thousand years) on paper, and only VERY RARELY do we stencil words into metal or stone. And generally, only less pivotal information is stored on stone for posterity reasons, while our society functioned at it's roots on paper. Does this mean that if our civilization was wiped out, in 20 thousand years we would not recognize our current society as literate? For this reason, we only have ancient records from posterity, that were intended to last. We DO NOT have the first writings, nor do we have access to the day to day recordings of ANY ancient functioning literate cultures. Because day to day recordings are too frequent and economically bound by cost vs reward to become stone projects. And because those writings have universally passed. Simply put. I would suggest that anyone who had the infrastructure to support the construction of megalithic structures, was communicating with something other than voice. It's just an essential engineering challenge that would need to be solved before anyone could move onwards to organizing their society, or distributing labor. I'm sorry. the oldest writing is VERY unlikely to be from Sumer. That's merely the oldest SURVIVING writing. Why? Because that was a culture that liked to write in stone. Most cultures do not. Even we don't like to do it, and prefer perishable writings.

Fun fact. Henry Ford constantly gets credited for creating the assembly line but Samuel Colt had already perfected the assembly line before Ford ever thought of it
@@tuabenjamin well in the case of Henry Ford he was also a Nazi sympathizer who helped influence Hitler he had to start his own publishing company to post his anti Jewish propaganda pamphlets in Adolf Hitler even had a life-sized oil painting of Henry Ford in his office
A tad bit misleading, I’d say colt created and envisioned it while ford perfected it. But even that’s not true. Eli Whitney was using it before colt and he was in the firearm industry before colt, in which colt likely was inspired by. Also Whitney not colt were using or “perfected” the assembly line especially not the “moving assembly line in which ford and his colleagues indeed did create and perfect. What Whitney pioneered was the concept interchangeable parts, in which colt adopted and refined and likely led to the first envisioning of what would come to be the assembly line. Still was not even close to what ford used. Colt was producing 10k products annually. 20-50k at its peak with a handful of parts to his product. Ford was mass producing 200,000 cars the first year him, Sorensen, and Avery created the “moving assembly line” which was a far more genius and perfected version of interchangeable parts or the idea of different employees work on one job each for the bigger picture in which colt developed. The level of genius and innovation is not even close however props to the knowledge of the early innovators. Ford is still a legend and far more impressive than colts business acumen (no disrespect intended he was a brilliant man” but ford changed the entire game and is fair to give credit to him even in the form of saying he contributed to the United States being a dominant world power more than any business man in our history. The reason the U.S. became a juggernaut in ww2 was because of mass manufacturing and production, we basically outproduced everyone else which allowed us incredibly advantages in the war and likely lead to the reason us and the allied won, because of our ability to mass produc, in which every product that was being mass produced followed fords moving assembly line principles. That mass producing and manufacturing won us the war and turned us into a dominant world player. And you wanna say colt deserves more credit for mass producing a gun that was used mostly during the civil war and killed more Americans than any other weapon up until that time? Gets your history right and don’t think it’s as simple as “fun fact” there’s a lot more diggin to be done Also lol to “this is 100% facts there’s a UA-cam video on it”. There’s some wild stuff on UA-cam that’s a horrible statement.
@@candressen4354 actually Cold did perfect the assembly line passed what Eli Whitney did and in the manner that Henry Ford did. Whitney worked on streamlining the manufacturing process with assembly lines however Samuel colt perfected the assembly line by controlling his supply chain, supply of materials it means a productions of many of those materials. That is the aspect that most people forget about at Henry Ford is "known" for perfecting.

It’s 4am and I’m seriously hungry….and I usually don’t eat till 2pm…living vicariously through you two.
So much respect for these pod casts w/Mr Elon…I learn so much and he’s a Great teacher. Get as much of him as you can: we all learn so much from him (and you, Mr Joe)
I miss watching these in full length. Sure wish Joe Rogan would return to youtube.
how is it this not the full episode ? Did they talk 4 hours, or what ? 😯
imagine the dude who made that pizza finding out he made it for elon and joe.
You a sh-tlib or something?
40:20 Damn, Elon was suuuuuuper happy that night. That cigar is good stuff 🤣🤣🤣
Elon's is a really really smart man, He is trying to get us into the next level. I applaud him. Keep it coming.

Its old just deleted by accident and reposted
I really enjoyed this ! Never mind how old it may be ! To see Elon so relaxed and cool with Joe ! Fantastic ! What Super Rich individual would even give his time like Elon did ? I admire the Guy !
Fun fact. Henry Ford constantly gets credited for creating the assembly line but Samuel Colt had already perfected the assembly line before Ford ever thought of it
This is 100% true and there's a UA-cam video on it😅
another testament to history being written by winners
Gets your history right and don’t think it’s as simple as “fun fact” there’s a lot more diggin to be done
Also lol to “this is 100% facts there’s a UA-cam video on it”.
It would be very helpful and greatly appreciated if they could include the original date of when the podcast was recorded in the description.

Sardines are really good for you. American's have a misconception when it comes to healthy fish, pretty much cuz it comes in a can salted. But get the ones in extra virgin olive oil. delish and healthy snack.
