Another good one would be a schecter c-1 plat About 800, basically a cheaper Hellraiser. Has EMGs, effortless ebony fretboard, my favorite guitar I own
Yes,Ibanez rules. And these days, you don't have to spend tons of money for a decent ax. I've built a few that are on par with these, and I didn't have to spend a grand. Plus you can find good deals on used stuff, and pawn shops have a decent selection too,so thats another avenue to follow. Great video Jason.😉

It was suprising to me also Scott. That PRS rocked. I've been looking at different guitars from 500 to 3000 + dollars to get a better idea of their pros and cons. Best for the money is where we all wanna be I suppose. Played since 7, (mostly acoustic until mid 20's). I'm older now and want a nice guitar to cover classic rock to medium - light metal. Any and all recommendations appreciated. New Sub! Great job on the video Jason! Keep'em coming!
@@kentuckywindage222 Wow! You & I sound very similar! I started on guitar at 9. Had a “Box Banjo”, at age 7. By high school I’d moved on to Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. I’d seen Zak Wylde @ this point w/Ozzy & Alice In Chains had a big Hells Angels fight breakout & end the concert but it was almost over anyway! I had an offer to play Christian Metal & open for Tainted Angel in L.A., but turned it down! Yeah I know, I’m an idiot! Started dating a girl I grew up w/from church , got married & sold my electric guitar, a Strat & Peavey Amp. My late grandmother sang w/Mother Maybelle & the Carter Sisters, but she committed suicide in 63, 2wks before Kennedy. I had 2 uncles as a kid that was w/Ricky Skaggs on his Highway 40 Blues album & toured w/him. 1 uncle came over & gave my dad an album called “Manzanita”, little did I know about 20yrs later I’d befriend Wyatt Rice & by proximity become friends w/Tony & Wyatt both! Of course great friends also w/Rickie Simpkins & others. As you can tell I’d left rock n roll for the music of my youth, Bluegrass! Zak Wylde in an interview told the person his favs were Metal & Grass as he’d grown up that way also. Some of my wife’s family lived in Nashville. Lookup her uncle, Gary Walker. He wrote Trademark, silent co-writer w/Kendall Hayes and came up with the 2-verse & tag line “wait on the corner”, YES, as in Just Walk On By! The stories he could tell from back in the day in Nashville! Anyways, as a kid my real true love wasn’t the guitar, it was the dobro & that’s what I was known as in Nashville, a “Dobro Player”. Talked w/Elderly Instruments on making a signature Dobro w/my name. Just before going on the road w/Alicia Nugent I was diagnosed w/a debilitating disease of the spine which ultimately ended my career. That’s life? 😆 Your handle makes me think of my other true passion? Guns of course! I always say I use “Missouri Windage”! You a KY., man? I played there & for a songwriter, Connie Leigh. Heard of her? Maybe not. You watch Rhett Schulls video where Nathaniel Murphy plays a Beetles song & does a bit of (my all-time fav), Zeppelin’s Kashmir? He talks about the Gibson guitar in the video being bought from Trey Hensley. That guy almost bought my Bourgeois Vintage D out from under me, but I beat him to it! Yeah, I’ve tied getting 1 of my 3 sons into playing, but no luck. I think it’s a case of “we’ll never be as good as Dad”, but I keep trying. Last summer the wife & I along w/our oldest son & his wife went to KC, MO., to see Poison, Def Leppard & Motley Crue. Yes it was AWESOME! I’ve also seen Tesla, but years ago. What r some of the big boys you’ve seen or know? I will admit my oldest has came close to following me. I taught him a few chords, even taught him how to play “More Than Words”. Bought him an acoustic & electric but neither seemed to take hold, 😆! He LOVES music but not enough to want to play. We are all going back to KC to see John Mayer, my sons fav & he’s seen him before. Looking forward to it! I’ve actually got a PRS SE 524 Single Cut McCarty headed my way, so yeah the PRS made a major impression on me. I’ll let you know how she handles when she gets here! When I set my mind on something I don’t often waste time getting it. 😆 What are you playing on currently? I’m actually just finishing up a Telecaster build. I bought a kit but gutted everything but the body & neck. Got a 64 Fender vintage neck pickup & a Seymour D., 1/4lb’er for the bridge. So actually I’m still playing on my acoustic. It’s only been recently that I decided to get back into electrics. I’ve missed them & all the fun of collecting pedals! I’ve threatened to take 1 of my oldest boys Strat or Teley from him! 😆 Seriously, I’d like to hear if you ever pursued a career or just play at home or local band stuff. Don’t leave out ANY details! Good talking w/you!
Hey Jason, I gotta say, this was a great video! I've been a fan and prescriber for quite some time. I'm 49, and have been playing since I was 10. I've always played what ever I could afford! However, when I was doing well, and able to afford a really nice guitar, the best I've ever played, for some reason, has always been within that $750-$1000 range! You are absolutely right! That is definitely the Sweet Spot!!! Thanks for all the great videos brother!!! 🤘
Dude, thank you for being part of my channel and for the support! Yeah man, I've played super expensive guitars but at the end of the day, the ones in this price range are just as good if not better! I think those higher prices are more for 'exclusive' branding or something! Even my ESP E-II Horizon (FR-7)...it's overpriced. THe LTD versions play just as good!
You seamed to have failed to mention that the Ltd came with fishman pickups and an evertune bridge the neck and fingerboard are nice features but come on fishman and evertune for under a grand speced out did it have locking tuners if so hands down bang for the buck I can do without the prs for metal ibanez has a bunch of good stuff in that range
I just went through the store and pulled guitars that were in that price range and that would work for most folks for this style. Fishman and Evertune are indeed great features to have if you want them. But not everyone cares for those pickups or that bridge. Agrees, Ibanez has many great options (I lean towards Ibanez, in general). But again, I chose what was in the store at the time.
@@jasonstallworth yeah as I read through the comments I became aware of that I to lean toward ibanez but that ltd was sick speced out I agree evertune bridge is prob not for every one I myself have never played one I hear therr tough to get adjusted how you want but after that stay in tune very well I am going to keep my eye out for that model on the used market or open box b stock thanx for bringing it to my attention
First time here ... love the channel ... 1st I am guitar hunting big time....Getting older and starting to loose my skills.... Love the Tiger striped Kramer.. Looks like fun and sounds good. I had a 86 Kramer AreoStar ZX10 that I put a good Floyd Rose on it about 25 years ago and I absolutely loved it.... I could not whammy it out of tune.... Then after living in the same house for over 25 years & 1 month before i sold my house all my gear got ripped off. To bad I wasn't home ... What do you all think between new and used... Im still half way decent and want to want to play some old Pantera & some Priest the way I used too....If that makes any sense...getting old sucks ....sorry for the rant
Old Priest and Pantera are awesome! Yeah, that Kramer was nice and this is really a good price range for quality guitars (there's really no need to go higher than about $1200). And I'd even say go used...you can find some really good deals on quality guitars. This store I'm at has several used and they will treat you right...check the link in the description, tell them I sent you!
@@jasonstallworth Roger that bro... buying a used guitar doesn't bother me a bit... I still have my old BOSS/DOD pedals and i plan on buying a Marshall JCM LS 50 watt Ser# X10501 head from my brother ...Kinda funny im wondering if that head is still trustworthy...considering Im still cranking my 1972 Peavey Classic
Personally I think the Ken susi sounded the best I'm a sucker for those fluence pickups. I'm wondering what you think of them now that you have tried them.
Yeah, dude, I liked that LTD I played. Didn't care much for the Evertune though because you can't bend the notes (I know there's a way to set it up for that). But it did play really nice, as I expected. I'd have to play around with those pickups a little more. I'd like to play that through my EVH amp to really put them to the test!
Yeah dude for sure. Personally I'm not a fan of the rockerverb sound. The Fishman's are killer metal pickups I have them in my 6 and 7 string schecter.
ขอบคุณมากครับ That’s part of my logo! My wife is Thai and we will be visiting again in November 2023 (this year). We are also considering moving there in a couple years. I would like to connect with some Thai musicians!
Ibanez is the best bang for the buck here, the RG550 is basically a Prestige without the label. Even in the Ibanez website is among the other Prestige models, not in the standard section, and also made in Japan.
@@jasonstallworth it's the bright yellow one ^^ I think it's the cheapest and nicest you can get a new japanese guitar these days and it's a legendary one too
Awesome video. Is funny to watch this, here in Brazil with this price i just can buy something like Ibanez Gio, i have one, sounds good for a beginner like me, but is a huge price diference
I have the soloist winters and it’s crazy bad ass,I’ve owned all kinds of guitars and this is one of my favorite.I think that Jackson,Ibanez, and schecter guitars are the best types for metal, but I’ve also seen guys use hamer guitars and are just as good.great content bro keep it up.
What do you think of the ESP LTD KH-602? I know it’s over $1,000, but I see them used on reverb cheaper all the time. Like $800ish. I know you’re biased... but, how awesome are they??? LoL I really want one, but is it worth it and more?
@@jasonstallworth it's looking like I'm about to stimulate the hell out of the guitar shop soon with my sugar daddy government cash then, lol!!! I see one used for $700 right now without a case!
For me, I disliked the Ibanez the most as it had to much high end. I liked the chunkier PRS & LTD better sound wise. Can't day a word about how they play as the neck shape wasn't described. I prefer a more shallow C shape over the D. On a side note, when it comes to playability of a guitar, I always use the advice from my most favorite player ever, David Gilmour. He said something like, there's no need to plug on a new guitar when buying 1, if it sounds and plays good unplugged, then it will definitely sound good plugged in. Now take that for what it's worth, because he is a fantastic player but, a metal player he is NOT. So I would 1st play several guitars unplugged, then after finding a few I liked, try them plugged in to hear how the pickups duffer. Also to make sure everything works as it should. P.S. Are you like 7 feet tall, or is your buddy in the shop just short? You look like a mountain next to him...
I hear you and for me, the neck is the most important thing. I prefer the Ibanez RG wizard necks, thin in the back with a little wider fingerboard but other prefer the thicker necks
@jasonstallworth I have a beautiful Gibson Slash signature LP. Plays and sounds like you would expect, it needs the neck shaved though, and weighs in at almost 10 Lbs. Other than that, whooo boy is she a killer. Also own an LTD EC1000, Schecter Demon Sii with Zakk Wilde 81/85 actives that I installed. And a couple of acoustics. My best is an Emerald X20, then the Fender cutaway. Forget the model, but its like 500 bucks. Not a bad guitar though.

@@jasonstallworth thanks mate. Im an old Aussie rediscovering. Loving Aussie metal.
I gotta say while I liked the LTD & JACKSON’s, I was actually moved by the PRS. Weird, I know but just being honest. Thanks & great video man!
🤘
I really dig my Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder with Floyd Rose that hits this budget. KILLER guitar!

Awesome video. Keep it up ✊🏻😎🤍
I have an ESP LTD MH350 FR. It was 600 bucks and plays like a dream.
Those are nice!
PRS Into a Mesa Triple Rectifier was the staple gear for Nu-Metal and During all 2000s Heavy Metal
🤘
That LTD looks sick
LTD guitars just do it for metal!
The Jackson guitar I have was about 250$ to 300$ from Portmans
That's a great price! I'd snag that up!
I'm running them through a newly acquired Dover DA50 amp and a 2x12 with a cream back and v30 and it sound killer
Brian Daggar Yeah that Rockverb really needs an overdrive in front to clean it up. I’m so used to (and spoiled) with my EVH at home!
Heyyyyy love your T shirt it Thai word mean Jason 🎉🎉
ขอบคุณมากครับ That’s part of my logo! My wife is Thai and we will be visiting again in November 2023 (this year). We are also considering moving there in a couple years. I would like to connect with some Thai musicians!
Ibanez is the best bang for the buck here, the RG550 is basically a Prestige without the label. Even in the Ibanez website is among the other Prestige models, not in the standard section, and also made in Japan.
Can't go wrong with Ibanez!
i had a esp mk600 a few weeks. best guitar ever. but i sended it back because it didnt stand in tune
Oh no, that's not cool. I wonder if the guitar wasn't setup properly
Hey man, I know this sounds totally random and ik this video is 2 years old but you seem like you would be the best dad ever.
Thank you. Well, I can say that I'm a great husband (and have an excellent wife) and do my best to inspire and encourage folks
3:05 just give me the Birdie Guitar is all you have to say to me
since i am huge into anything SG/LESPAUL inspired for my Doommetal music
🤘
What is the best V for the Price ? Solar or Jackson or ESP LTD?
Couldn’t tell you. Never played a Solar and have only played a limited amount of Vs in general
The MIJ RG550 Genesis has to be one of the greatest bangs for the buck today
I need to check one of those out!
Gustavo Castro thank you! Yeah I imagine there are price differences in other countries
@@jasonstallworth All guitars are at least a couple hundred more here in Canada, even the budget models :D
@@sahamal_savu Ouch...I hear you guys pay a lot more in taxes, too....
I’m torn between getting an ESP LTD Arrow 1000 and an E-II Arrow. Both are most likely similar in quality.
They're very similar and I think you'd like both
My schechter e-1 custom is pretty awesome at this price range.

I can’t find that prs in that color anywhere..... could someone link me a trustworthy page to buy it?
I have the link to Replay Guitar Exchange in the description, so you can reach out to them! Tell them I sent you (they do online orders, too)

Schecter makes really good guitars for that range also. I've been playing 34 years

Yeah, those Soloists are amazing guitars!
Those kramers are awesome
Yeah, they are and play so nice!
@@jasonstallworth . Yeah they do I'm about to pick one up myself
Those Fishmans sound so clean and clear! 😍 debating on putting them in my ibanez RG 🤔
They've got a smooth punch to them!
My respects for trying them straight raw to the amp. I hate guitar reviews who use a ton of pedals.
Thanks, brother, yeah I like to get that true tone, as much as possible!
@@jasonstallworth no problem man. I ended up getting the Ibanez RG550. Its a killer guitar
The LTD blew them all out of the water!!
That LTD has more of a punch to it
I'm not finding that LTD M-6 anywhere for under 1250.
These were all pre-owned guitars
What do you think of the ESP LTD KH-602? I know it’s over $1,000, but I see them used on reverb cheaper all the time. Like $800ish. I know you’re biased... but, how awesome are they??? LoL I really want one, but is it worth it and more?
IMO, any LTD guitar in that range is going to be worth. Those guitars just play really nice
@@jasonstallworth it's looking like I'm about to stimulate the hell out of the guitar shop soon with my sugar daddy government cash then, lol!!! I see one used for $700 right now without a case!
@@robhowe8353 That’s definitely not a bad thing to spend it on!!!
Thanks for demoing raw like that, nobody does it. I think the LTD sounded the ballsiest
Yeah dude, no frills, just a raw amp!!
Stay Metal! Your videos NAIL IT....
Thank you for that, brother!
what song were u playing for the creamer pacer
Dude I'm just making up riffs on the fly
Ibanez Iron Level are the best for metal at that price range
They're solid!!!
what amp would you recommend for these type of guitars or any guitar for metal
