Interesting and instructive game. A famous chess grandmaster once said "The hardest thing to win is a won game". This game is a good example of a won game that became a lost game, but that actually makes it even more instructive.
100%! Glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't agree more, comeback wins are fun but there is real value in knowing how to convert a winning position into an actual win.
Bad luck Billi. I've played Bird's Opening myself on and off throughout most of my chess life after finding an old - 1950s - collection of Bird's Opening games in my school library. I've never worked out why it isn't more popular. After all, with f4 you dictate the opening. With e4 your opponent can chose c5, e6,e5, c6 and more. Same with d4.
I found 5. d3, g4 6. Nd4, Qh4+ 7. g3, Bxg3+ 8. hxg3 Qxh1 9. Bf4 and white is about +1 and the position is crushing with Qd2 e3, Nc3 and the Knight on d4 goes over b5 to c7... but thanks for the video ^^
I love this opening . This will take you from . 0 to 1800 no issue if played right . I use this and The kann and been on a winning streak . Past 10+ games .
Thanks Robert! Glad you enjoyed this fun subscriber game. Always feel free to send your own games in, ask me any chess related questions you may have, let me know what videos you'd like to see on the channel, etc!
Same here. I play Bird's always. It's my favorite opening and is brutally powerful on the king's bishop line lining up the rooks and queen to checkmate the king.
With From's Gambit, I always take the first pawn, never the second. The second pawn becomes a headache to deal with and not worth it for being 1 pawn up. I instead develop my knight and pawns to take control of the center. This makes a great opening for Bird's.
Totally! Ya this is one way to go about it that works well. Some like going up a pawn, others don't find it worth it. I'm a player who would rather just be sitting at even material with me breathing.
Played a 2000+ rated player who is way stronger than me. He also tried the Froms Gambit.. just to end up in a worse position. Not scary at all if you are prepared.
Hey Leon! Thanks for sharing this, you are 100% right. It looks intimidating at first to some (including myself) but once you study it, white is much more than okay.
The advantages of openings such as Bird opening/ Larsen-Nimzo(B3) Orangutan (B4) scandinavian, Dutch it's 'your' opening from move 1. Not needing to know 5 Ruy lopez systems, ( I love Bishop's opening though) no nimzo indian, kings indian, etc. It's your opening and you are more familiar with the middlegames

Bird's/Dutch systems are so fun.. it actually revived my love for chess lol
Totally! Ya I am a big fan of them both as well. Always gonna give you a good solid opening position and a fun game.

Hey Andrew, I too am perplexed at why it isn't more popular. Guarantees a playable and solid middlegame position to work with every time.

Awesome stuff Billi! You specialize in what tons of people are scared to play/think is dubious!
Hey Billi, wow ya this is another route which is also good. I will have to take a closer look at this. And thanks for the game!

I used Bird's Opening and some of my games in turns into King's Gambit. 😂
Haha facts 😂😂 - you don't like accepting the From's Gambit I assume?
I always play the Bird's opening, LOL.
I respect you.

Nice feature, to offer subscriber game analysis.
Glad you enjoying them! Always feel free to send in a game of yours!
Really good game, Against e5 i like to play e4, i feel like i can dictate the game more playing a king's gambit, than taking the from's gambit
Glad you enjoyed it brotha! Ya totally, I'm with that.

From's gambit is my favorite as a Bird's opening player. As good as Sturm gambit 😀
100%!!!

This is incredible, I don’t think I’ll be double 1.f4 again!
Very underrated opening for white!
Our board one hit 2000 months paying bird to get people out of theory because he hated studying openings

I just love sacrificing a big piece on opponents kingside and going for the neck😅😅…….Froms gambit still annoying though
Fun stuff!
