Drawer freezers are the worst. Once you start stacking frozen items in the drawer, it will take you forever get to something at the botton. Not sure why people considered French Door refrigerator improvement over the side by side option. I will take a side by side frig any day.
i agree, its just one of those FADS, alot of people feel the need to follow FADS! , i hate french door fridges, i think they are SO STUPID!
I agree. I just got just got rid of my french door samsung it was horrible never again
I have both. I personally like more side by side than French doors. Why? Because side by side are in my opinion easier to clean and organize. You have more storage space on the side by side in freezers specially because most of the ice maker is in the door. While the French doors sometimes comes with 2 ice makers one on top and one on bottom , but the one on the bottom sometimes the ice slide everywhere in the freezer making it a mess , and takes storage space. Either one you decide to get, I would recommend not to get anything with handles because they become loose with the time, and it’s an extra you gonna have to clean .
These comments are very helpful. I'm getting a new build townhome that comes standard with a side-by-side frig. I have the option to upgrade to a French door frig. I'll stay with the side-by-side. I didn't think about having to bend over to take out frozen food and that the design is to stack your food in the freezer drawer. With my bad back, bending over to dig through frozen foods would be painful.
Great review. You just changed our minds about the side-by-side. I dislike bending down & do need more space for large items.
I am very thankful to the comments setion. Its absolutely true about the sides needing to breathe with the French doors and they take up extra space.
Thanks for these videos they are awesome!
Have had both, side by side more reliable and easier to get things out of. Would purchase old top freezer design before French door
I have both...I like my side by side better...easier to organize
We have a whirlpool french door. The fridge keeps going out after 11 years. I'm considering a side by side because we buy a lot of frozen foods and the french door freezer isn't very convenient. The back slants and it takes away valuable space. But, I love the wide space of the fridge.
It’s 11 years old you have gotten out of all that it can give because they’re built to last about 7 years at the most
Awesome video! TY
Nailed it bro thanks...10000/10
I like side by side but i got french door for my parents for christmas present, they been eying it for long while now. Though im getting one without a dispenser. Im hoping they like it. ^^
My old sxs just quit working, the freezer is fine but fridge isn't cold enough so, after 14 years it's time for a new one. I picked out a French door that I've always wanted. I can't wait!!
good luck! french doors aren't as nice... they're alright....
@@KuyaArbee we are also thinking to go for french door,, compartment in lower side also not drawer, basically 4 doors
Is it a good option,as we don't have many frozen food,
@@businessworld283 French door fridges aren’t reliable and break a lot!
@@businessworld283 WORST CHOICE you can make if it has the ice maker in the door of the refridgerator
@@Machria23 True, Ice machines are ok in SBS types because they're on the freezer side, as long as the ice maker is well made, you're good. But in so called "French Doors" they are a huge liability and weak point. They just don't mix well, you have a very sharp humidity and temperature gradient between the ice make and the main refrigerator chamber and that just ain't a healthy environment for the Ice maker.
Good job. But, please consider the difference between tall/short and wide/narrow. When you say the side-by-side doors are "shorter," what you actually mean is that they are narrower.
I have had both! But truthfully the side by side is better bc the French door wth the slide out isn’t always the best! The slide up has broke lots!
I have the freezer on top fridge and I don't perform it because I can't organize. I an leaning towards a side by side because of organization. If I do a French door the freezer part I would have to stack, not what I want.
Thanks
We remodeled our kitchen 2 years ago and bought new appliances for it. I have always wanted the french door refrigerator since i have seen many at my friends house. I finally picked the LG french door with the see through glass in front and ice maker on the other side. No one told us that we have to leave 2 inches of space on each side of the fridge for air flow. So after 2 years the fridge stopped working. Thank goodness it was still under warranty so they replace the compressor and now its working again but we had to put a fan behind the fridge to move the air around. We are considering buying a new side by side refrigerator to replace this one so we wont have any more problem. What brand do you recommend ?
After doing a lot of research, I’m seeing that side by side refrigerators have less problems. I am hoping someone will recommend good brands. I’m on the haunt as well!
The most important thing to look for, is an ice maker INSIDE THE FREEZER! NOT in the refrigerator (on the door). Side by sides have the icemaker in the door but in the freezer side, so that is fine. The problem with most french doors is the ice maker is in the door, which puts it in the refrigerator! This means the unit has to work harder to keep that ice maker and ice storage bin at freezer temps, on the door of the refrigerator.
I’m currently shopping for a new refrigerator. I’ve had a Jenn-Air side by side for over 22 years. Unfortunately Jenn-Air doesn’t make side by side anymore (freestanding), only french door style. I was not convinced that a pullout bottom freezer drawer is a good design. The comments here were very helpful. I’m definitely sticking with a side by side, but will have to go with a different brand, unfortunately.
I never have liked any refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. Too much bending down. I'll take a freezer on the top or a side by side any day. When I bought my house in 2018 I had plenty of space for a refrigerator. I've always wanted and never had ice and water in the door. I bought a 26 cubic foot LG stainless steel side by side refrigerator. I'm the only one in the house and this refrigerator is huge but I love it.
French Door Refrigerator is Best Obiasley
after being in a few homes with french door style, I think it is way worse. (there's a reason why most super luxury homes have giant side by sides)
the french door style in the freezer you end up stacking lots of frozen food up and then have to go thru digging thru stacks of frozen foods and if not all in their box, you have to then re-stack it to fit
plus food sometimes falls BEHIND the bottom door and is a chore to dig out
In the side by side...is there a brach that it's more recommended than another?
Had whirlpool side by side 31 years old still in shop full of beer bought lg French doors bottom freezer stop after 5 years ordered new whirlpool side by deliver next week
My french door freezer messed up in a year😭 planning on purchasing a side by side fridge🙏
If u have problems with slide out not closing all the way bc lil plastic piece broke on side of freezer put a screw it it’ll hold up for a lil longer!
Nice Whirlpool French 4 doors
I hate the bottom freezer. You lose stuff all the time at the bottom
They should crest a top freezer with a French Door. I hate bottom freezers .
Hi I love the French one - how can I buy it pls?
there stupid and have more problems, save yourself the agony and just get a side by side,, stop trying to be HIP and get french door TRASH!
2 door is simpler and just better.
Por que no dicen el precio $$$$????????
What is the cost of whirlpool both refrigerator in INDIA at Kolkata.
The bottom freezer is always prone to icing in the bottom that it jams it shut, and you end up breaking it. Sure, easy fixes can be made, but only temporary, and you may end up with drawers with a flawed design when trying to remove them to access the problem.
Side by side freezer is so limited in space. Narrow and stuff always getting lost in the back. Love the full frig view of the french and if organized right, the bottom freezer gives you a top down full view of everything you have.
lol, have fun digging to the bottom of your so called frech door fridge, sorry but frech door freezers are not any better, you gotta dig to the bottom, lmao! side by side do offer much better if you get the right sized one. and PLUS you dont have to get on your knees to use the freezer or bend over and fall into the drawer with a so called french door freezer style , lmao
@@karmendimas5274 it's not like it's a giant hollow bin toy box where you just throw stuff on top of each other, the one I have has dual drawers that overlay each other and the top drawer you barely have to hunch a little to grab stuff. The bottom one I put less used stuff. Cmon, I had a 36 in side by side for years and I couldn't even fit a full size frozen pizza box in there lol. French is awesome, but let's argue some more about first world problems lol
FRENCH DOOR SUCKS! HAVE fun bending over and digging! @@obabas80
The ice makers in a French door inside the fridge suck. They will fail.
Yes the freezer part on my french door messed up in less than a yr
You got a Samsung refrigerator? 🤷♀️
The handle is loose on that French door Samsung one.
It is supposed to do that "up tilt". It helps break the seal before you open it
how much ?
The thing with side by side, is, you could wash those narrow shelves in a sink. I have a top/bottom, and No WAY do they fit!! I'm replacing my 21 year old GE because I had a low voltage power issue in my home, and when it finally got fixed, I didn't plug it back in right away. STUPID! Now, I have to much mold and flies...it's GROSS. I ruined a perfectly good Fridge. )-;
If you care about the icemaker at all, the French door style is a bust. Poor design. I have replaced my icemaker twice in my Samsung, and it broke again. The icemaker is not insulated well enough in the refrigerator and it just doesn’t stay cold enough. The ice melts and refreezes and the mechanism breaks. My appliance guy tells me he does icemaker repairs on these regularly.
i only have one hand, lost my hand in the war, which one is better for me
Either one just make sure not to buy it from a second hand store
@@basedtiger8984 oh my god... no you didn't 🙊🙀
@@basedtiger8984 Respect and Manners much Troll?!?!?!?!? You should never ever ever disrespect a veteran no matter what country they serve.
Thank you so very much for your service and hope you are able to find a fridge that meets your needs. God Bless!!!!
I would think a side-by-side would be better, as the French door type requires opening more doors (if opening both fridge doors at the same time) and opening/sliding more interior drawers in both the fridge and freezer sections. I went today to a store to look at both types, and was disappointed by the French door models. To fully open the interior drawers in the fridge section, it seems you'd need to have enough space (no walls nearby) to swing the exterior doors out of the drawers' way.
Why you hate to bent down
French door is terrible, hurting your back digging thru the freezer is terrible
I hate that drawer dreezer, too. I have gone from a side by side to french door back to side by side during my past few moves. However I did notice one advantage in the French door frig is that you can buy taller unit when you choose a french door mode. When you have limited horizontal space in your kitchen, you can buy a very large frig that is not too wide.
The more fluff the more likely to break. Side by side it is
Considerations: Space... budget... lifestyle...
Translation: Are you poor or not?
That's really not a fair assessment. There are just so many options out there and there's something for every budget. We have a double wide modular home. Either of these refrigerators would be a good option for saving open door space. We do have a budget, that's just smart. Lifestyle.. well, I do have back issues, so the French door freezer may be a problem for me, but I grew up with a side by side and hated it.
@@Silver87sc the smart option is to have identical looking separate large cooler and freezer alongside fixed together. it only have advantages if one have the room for it
We bought a French door Samsung and we regret it. Ice maker keeps freezing up. There are a lot of complaints. Never getting a Samsung or a French door again. LG is just as bad.
UM, YES! what the heck makes u think that?
French door refrigerators be like =]
yeah, your right, french door fridges S U C K ! !
I have both but know this, side by side refrigerators have far more issues with breakdowns, etc. Do your research.
What?
Don’t think pizza can fit in a side by side do they?
Yes
Also we put pizza on a plate and then inside a police bag to keep it fresh so it does dry out. No problem in our side by side
I hate the side by side fridge. The freezer is so inconvenient. I’m a cook. I cook and it’s harder to put things in it and find things. There’s no space. I’d rather have the huge freezer and French doors. I hate my fridge. I’m used to being about to get in and get out and my fridge where I live I can barely fit food in there even when I take it out. Side by side fridges need to have pull out shelves that slide in and out. Whoever designed the side by side fridge did not have the consumer in mind when it comes to shopping. They must have been someone who likes to eat out and barely buys food because the space is so limited I’ve had better with a top fridge freezer.
I cook too, everyday, but I like side by side fridge.
The side by side freezer have shelves so I can organize all the food neatly. In the french door fridge, all the food just stacks on top of each other, its hard for me to organize it.
Your statement makes no sense. Side by side is definitely the cleaner of the 2. Instead of digging through your freezer like a dog in dirt you can put stuff away more organized.
Yeah I’m confused. You’d definitely have more of a mess with a French door considering your freezer is literally a giant bin. You have no option but to stack things on top of one another.
@@arasyasachi1096 you must be a bachelor, lol
@@danielbradley7909 this side by side only applies if you live without a family
French doors suck......
Agree👌🏻

He's a bloke who's probably never cooked and only used a fridge for getting soda. What a boring presentation.
