Spear of Destiny were the first band I ever saw in Leeds 1988. Really good memory. I was 15. I saw loads of bands in later years but your fist gig always stays with you. Loved every minute of it.
Saw him in the mid 80s live at Victoria Park, Hackney. He was my idol. I had the jacket and the hair. Someone threw a bottle at him during that gig - and he caught it! That just confirmed in my mind that he was the coolest dude on the planet!
So great he's still at it...if you missed it ( yep I was there for TOH and SOD in 80s) and you want music thats an education, not distraction..he's playing lots of dates 2024
I saw them a few times with this line-up. Fantastic. I was worried about seeing one of my heroes last year as TOH & SOD played a festival. Utterly fantastic again. He's still got it in spades!
Fantastic music , reminds me of being back in the wharehouse in Preston with my very precious other half, them where really the days, but these guys should really be up there with simple minds n the cure, brilliant music xxxx
Oh this makes me happy! I watched this on Channel 4 when I was young and had hair! When you think about the other music from the same period, Spear of Destiny remain grossly under rated.
Went to see them last night at rock city great gig! despite my promise to stay away from moshing I wake up today with a sore throat, a black eye and partial deafness!! just like the old days. good one kirk
Kirk Brandon has got to be the most underestimated musician of all time. Nobody even comes close to his unique vocals and SOD really should have had much more success. Thanks again Jim for uploading these.
@firingupfiringoff the 12 inch you mention is The Senate which was Kirk Brandon and Rusty Egan basically redoin original sin with a TOH westworld on b side.. Rusty Egan was big on the Blitz early new romantic scene -mates with visage etc.
Oh, and one more memory just came back to me. I used to play this in my room all the time. Finally my Mum walks in thinking the chorus was "I'LL IMMIGRATE!", and tells me to get it over with and leave the country... So I did.
I think that nowadays nobody can say that George and Kirk were not together some time. It´s so crear. There are also pictures. Beautiful ones. And Kirk looked so happy. And George is such a credible person. Always. Love them both!
Saw Kirk and the boys play Wembley in '87 supporting U2 and after having spent 2 years shlepping all over England to see them it felt like some sort of vindication to me as an 18 year old to finally see them on the big stage. Still don't know if he's gay or not, though.......
Brilliant, although I had forgotten how crap the sound always was on the Tube! Backing singer is twice as loud as Kirk. Still one of their best tracks and cool as fuck after all these years!
SOD did some great tracks. Saw Kirk walking through Brighton once when he had long hair in the early 90s . I thought "who's this clown? Jon bon Jovi?" Then realised it was Kirk
I honestly couldnt care less what Kirks sexual persuasion was/is. Its got nothing to do with me and holds no interest for me. He is a talented musician who over the years has written some amazing songs and made some incredible live performances, of which I am proud to say I have seen several of. That right there was a great band.
Funny how when people say they are the best they often are not. What is it about the ego that has the need to say things like that. And that he had the need to prove he wasn't gay etc. Wishing you healing on every level. You are ok the way you are.
nunca te vamos a perdonar que le hayas roto el corazon a george, y que encima te hayas atrevido a demandarlo y a decir que no fue cierto cuando sabias muy bien que si
Lyndsey Franklin yes & lost & went bust, all because of the fact George was giving him it up the Kyber Pass. But Kurt was to much of a twat to admit it or indeed, just ignore it & keep silent
Whether Kirk is gay or not doesn't bother me. Are they Spear Of Destiny or Theatre Of Hate? Not bothered. The only problem I have with this track is getting to the end, listening to the closing bars and thinking "turtle power".

You had the Jacket & the Hair 😂😂

I was worried about seeing one of my heroes last year as TOH & SOD played a festival. Utterly fantastic again. He's still got it in spades!

Kirk Brandon has got to be the most underestimated musician of all time. Nobody even comes close to his unique vocals and SOD really should have had much more success. Thanks again Jim for uploading these.

just played the original 12" vinyl today. Real blast from the past
Oh, and one more memory just came back to me. I used to play this in my room all the time. Finally my Mum walks in thinking the chorus was "I'LL IMMIGRATE!", and tells me to get it over with and leave the country... So I did.

I love it :)
Saw Kirk and the boys play Wembley in '87 supporting U2 and after having spent 2 years shlepping all over England to see them it felt like some sort of vindication to me as an 18 year old to finally see them on the big stage.
Still don't know if he's gay or not, though.......
He and Boy George were lovers.
Who cares...it's HIS sexuality no one elses. Every ones sick curiosity is what has kept him in the closet.
I was there! Great concert!
I was there. We spent the night sleeping in the car close to Wembley stadium and then queued up for tickets for both nights. SoD were excellent.
Awesome
Saw these guys last night when they supported stiff little fingers, they were fucking amazing
love him xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
They are darling
happy days !!
I am what You are not . I am liberated.
foookin rock n roll baby you darlings they are still one of the best ..... interviewer =typical spineless ponce
Kirk Brandon got on my bus. True story
Was it the 5 bus?
He looks like James Dean when silent.. but sounds like Joe Brown when he talks..
Still.. he's a good frontman..
Дроботенко молодой
Kick Ass!
How ironic he mentions in the interview he’s not gay when unprompted. Years later he had an affair with Boy George of all people!
I honestly couldnt care less what Kirks sexual persuasion was/is. Its got nothing to do with me and holds no interest for me. Vash the stampede meets Ryan Gostling :)
@MABiO1001 me too.
"I am not gay. I am not a nazi." I am interested.
He said "Nancy", not Nazi.
No, he said Nazi. He certainly wasn't the latter and as for the former, more like bisexual, and who cares about that anyway?
sushuma T he definitely said nazi.
Roger Daltrey's lovechild?
nah, was looking for sword of destiny witcher 3
not gay? he was Boy George's boyfriend!
so... who give´s a f...?
yeah but he won't admit it he took Boy George to court about it aswell
Remember, this was the 80s... not 21st century... gay people kept it a secret in those days....
james mcnally I'm boy Georges boyfriend
Lyndsey Franklin yes & lost & went bust, all because of the fact George was giving him it up the Kyber Pass. But Kurt was to much of a twat to admit it or indeed, just ignore it & keep silent

Shout out tae QC n his mate severiano copperfield
That was murder!
Remember being a scooter boy,and everybody smashing the hell out of each other to this song, brilliant days
"I'm not gay..." only a minute in? Without provocation? Talk about deflecting...
this is begging for a vamped up metal version
Dire Dirge
Whether Kirk is gay or not doesn't bother me. Are they Spear Of Destiny or Theatre Of Hate? Not bothered. The only problem I have with this track is getting to the end, listening to the closing bars and thinking "turtle power".
Yes, him and Boy George were boyfriends!
Bullshit.
Dolphin Taylor once of Stiff little fingers on drums.

In BG's wank fantasies.
