I needed to hear this more than I'd like to admit... I'm 31 and I spent 11 years as a drug addict. I'm sober for 3 years now but I get hung up thinking "where would I be if I didnt to X " or "I cant believe I did X I'm so stupid" but I dont see how far I've come. I bought a house last week at 5 years ago I lost custody of my kids, went AWOL from the Army, and was living in a storm drain.... It's a miracle I'm still alive, and I forget that because I let myself wallow in the past. Thanks for reminding me not to.
In the original ending it was bowler hat guy who woke himself up after Luis took him back, so in that ending he is happy knowing he won't grow up into himself, even if he won't exist himself to see it. He was happy, so sad
@@kingmidasxynopytif you notice, he is carrying a notebook with a cartoon pony on the cover. A few years later in the fall of 2010, thanks to a certain animated television series based on a popular girl toyline, that sort of thing would become commonplace in the real world.
There's a reason the main tagline is Keep Moving Forward. Lewis applied that even when his inventions failed and became a world renowned engineer. Goob didn't apply that and became a bitter loser.
I just rewatched this movie for the first time in maybe 10 years & i absolutely adore it. I thought the story was so fun & the theme/message is so beautiful. The *only* thing i thought fell short & that i felt disappointed by (& always made me so sad as a kid) was Bowler Hat Guy's ending, that they had him run away in self shame. I feel like it would have been so much more meaningful if he had instead decided to face up to his wrongdoings, make amends where he could, eventually lettinf himself be accepted into the family, even if he would eventually fade out of existence anyway bc of the change in his past (winning the game). I think that would have been a really nice way to add to the "keep moving forward" theme/message by also conveying that it's never too late to *_start_* moving forward & that there are people out there willing to help you on your new chosen path if you let them in.
Did you know that Jorden Fry who voices Lewis in this movie also played Mike Teavee in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” two years earlier? It’s amazing how he went from playing a smart-aleck character to an actual boy genius.
@@IsaiahEFisher Both Chicken Little and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory we’re released the same year. The only difference was Charlie was released July 15, 2005 while Chicken Little was released November 4, 2005. Just four months apart.
The villain realising he wasted his life and his evil goal wouldn't make him happy just walking away looking aimless and deflated is the most powerful ending to a villain story ark ever.
This is one of the best ones yet. So thought provoking. Please make more videos where you have these pseudo-philosophical aspects to them. No joke, this is the most inspired I’ve felt since I’ve finished one of your videos. This deserves the fast attention it’s getting. Well done!
Why I really like the Bowler Hat Guy from this movie is because of how he is the embodiment of what happens when you let jealousy take over: permanently stuck and feeling nothing but hatred and resentment towards hearing and seeing other people's success and that success not being yours - an endless loop of comparison. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've felt that way countless times (especially in college), and yes, I have been in that same situation Goob was: stuck in the past and unable to move past it and instead, I have become like Lewis: understand that your future is not set in stone and that the successes you wish to achieve aren't just handed to you on a silver platter, but come with hard work and dedication. What I've also learned to appreciate from this movie is to not feel jealousy or hatred of other people's success as their success, especially in something that is your niche, doesn't take away your entitlement and chances of success there too. If anything, it serves as motivation that says that if they can do it, then so can you. And the only thing that's really stopping you, is you. Who cares if you messed up one little thing? Who cares if so-so won an award for something? Be happy for them as you imagine that they will be happy for you when you achieve your success. What they've achieved isn't something on your individual path. Just keep moving forward and that future that you've wanted and dreamed about will be yours.
I can relate, too. I am going to cease social media because I am still stuck in the past by a family who actually psychologically hurt me indirectly. It affects me greatly because I was a kid shunned as an outcast in social settings my whole life. While they are succeeding better than me in life, I am in constant angry envy that my life is not up to par with them. In actuality, I am doing well on my end. It may not be the typical cookie cutter plan like every person, but I am progressing. So as a gift to myself and my self-worth, I am deleting my social media and just enjoying movies, shows, and books. Kids films are criminally underrated, and though many people look at me funny because I watch them; I don't care anymore. Sometimes, it's the kids' stuff that's more mature than adult content. I want to grow with people and ideas that correspond with myself. I don't want to compare anymore. I don't want to remind myself of my past. I don't want to be a Bowler Hat guy. I want to be a Robinson. I want to keep moving forward. Sorry for my long post. I wanted to contribute how it relates to my pain. I'm glad I am not the only one. I wish you strength, peace, and prosperity on your life path.
@hangonsapto2338 It might be true in a reality sense. I know I can change things under my power and from my mind. It's tough, but possible. The best way to live life is to keep moving forward and focus on oneself. What's done is done, and now it's one self that can change the future. As Arthur would say, in Shrek the Third, "Then the only person standing in your way is you" - Arthur. I'm just an optimist in a pessimist world, but I have to go on. I must go on. If not, then I'm already dead on the inside, and that's a waste of myself. Not bashing on anyone. I'm just pushing myself to be a better person. Even if I will never be popular or anything; at least I lived my best life for my inner child. I wish you strength, peace, and prosperity. 🙏
Bowler Hat Guy is one of my all-time favorite Disney villains, alongside Oogie Boogie and Turbo, largely due to all you described in this video, he also kinda gives me Sir Pentious-vibes...minus the whole "being a demonic snake" thing.
Thank you for this. I really needed to hear it. Things aren't really going good for me right now, haven't been for a while. But I just need to get moving.
At the beginning of the movie, I thought bowler hat guy hat invented Doris himself and was this technological genius who owned a rival company and wanted to sabotage Lewis to protect his own company. It's only much later in the movie that I realise he achieved absolutely nothing meaningful and is totally harmless without Doris at his side.
Meet the Robertsons in terms of my favorite Disney animated movies this would be in my top 10 it’s alongside Treasure Planet and Bolt as Disney’s Underrated Gems
I still can't understand why there are people out in this world telling us were doomed to fail and bury us to the point of irrelevancy. We all should have one common goal and that is to keep moving forward and to not become a bowler hat guy. We all have something that the Bowler Guy will never have and that is determination, perseverance, and inspiration that keeps us moving to build a better tomorrow. Meet the Robertson's may have a preachy phrase in the film, but it deserves all the appreciation that it gets.
Mike is amazing in this movie! I think he would've told his roommate to take a break from inventing for one day; The day before his big game. If they both made better communication with each other, they would've made the best of friends. The inventor and the baseball outfielder. A lot of us can be like Mike in the worst sense imaginable. We're our own worst torturers in doubt and resistance. It's a horrible feeling.

"Your destiny lies in your hands."
