Actually in the culture emperors new groove is based on, even the emperor had to go to school , kusko being a young emperor simply meant he needed to finish school to continue being the emperor
Yzma mentions in _The Emperor's New Groove_ that _"I_ practically _raised_ [Kuzco]!". And I think there was an episode of _New School_ where an impostor claiming to be Kuzco's father shows up and Yzma rather indignantly declares "Not so fast! I served Kuzco's dad. I _knew_ Kuzco's dad! Kuzco's dad _was a friend of mine!_ And _you,_ sir, are no Kuzco's Dad." It could be that, before his sudden death/disappearance when Kuzco was very young, Kuzco's dad officially made Yzma Kuzco's _regent,_ the person who acts as monarch while the real monarch is too young/sick (Typically, the regent would be the young king's _mother,_ but... you know... Disney franchise. God only knows where _she_ went). If that's the case, and Kuzco's lack of academic credentials means he legally can't assume _full_ power as the Emperor, then yeah, I guess Kuzco's death or total failure to graduate _would_ mean that Yzma takes over until whatever person or group can make the decision either makes her Empress permanently or finds some distant relative of Kuzco's that she'll have to kill.
Maybe, since Kuzco was turning 18 in the movie, it was a council order for him to go back to school because of his behavior in the movie, that they didn't see him fit to be emperor and sent him to school to learn to be a better emperor.
Thinking back on it, it reminds me a lot of Phineas and Ferb. Both shows have an open premise that can go anywhere, but have the same recurring jokes and gags that appear between episodes. And it works.
I honestly loved this show growing up as a kid. While it wasn’t perfect by any means it truly was a lot of fun to watch. I was surprised John Goodman came back to do the voice of pacha in season 2 but not season 1.
2:34 Emperor's New Groove is also one of the only Disney films that actually work better as a full animated series than a singular feature film, because they utilized all the potential of the source material and perfected it.😉
The emperor's new school, lilo & stitch: the series, and the legend of tarzan are great spin-offs in my opinion. The 3 of them have a spot on my top 10 disney shows. It sucks how overlooked they are since most people just only care about the movies and that's it. I would love to see disney do a tv series on the incredibles. That's one disney franchise that would be perfect for it.
Which is funny considering Lilo and Stitch: the series sorta eclipsed the original completely interms of importance to the brand as far as I can see. Even in references and adaptations to events of the first movie, the updated lore is usually pushed in just for its iconic nature.
my favorite scene from this show is when Kuzco's class has to do a project on their family tree and history and Kuzco just say naa don't have to its on the ceiling
Moments like this are why I loved that show 😂 Mr M: Ok next assignment is to create a family tree. Kuzco : Sweet my projects already done! I was birthed by a glorious union between the moon and the stars. Mr M: KUZCO!!! 😡 Kuzco: It’s on the ceiling (points up) Mr M: Fine! Just go take a nap or something!
I always loved the show and the movies. Just seeing Kronk in his dude-bro humor always brightens my day. Plus, I think Kuzco is even funnier here than he was in the movie.
So funny story about this show: I grew up without cable for a few years, so the only way I could watch Disney Channel stuff was when it aired Saturday mornings on ABC. However, for SOME reason, the content rotation on ABC Kids froze after 2006 (aside from new Power Rangers,) so I was stuck watching the first season of "Emperor's New School," and only the first season, for THREE YEARS. XD
I was also surprised David spade didn’t come back to do the voice of kuzco in the emperor’s new school too. But his replacement JP manoux or whatever his name was, sorry if I butchered the name, was just as good of a replacement. But did return to voice him kronk’s new groove the straight to dvd sequel.
Huh, funnily enough in the German dub there's been a different voice for Kuzco too, but honestly despite me liking the movie voice actor generally, the TV voice actor was actually much better.
Just like Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command, Timon & Pumba and Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Disney has talent with turning their own films into television shows.
Wait Yzma is still his advisor, there's even a whole episode about this! They tried their best to fill some plot holes. Even Kuzco going back to school is a thing that emperor's had to do in the empire the movie/show is based of.
Remember seeing the trailer for this one on ABC kids and thought it was a continuation of the movie just with a simple plot at the writing most of the time felt like the original movie and was funny ❤❤
If they do a Spin-off series it would be cool Kuzco and Malina to be married, and have a son that would become an emperor after Kuzco. Just like how Kuzco became an emperor after his biological father.
9:52 I know how you feel about the sequel trilogy, and I totally respect your opinion. But like I said before, there are some people who actually do like it, and I’m one of them. On the bright side, some people have actually moved on from it and are trying to check out some of the other Star Wars stuff that Disney has in store. As Walt Disney himself one said, "Keep moving forward."
Title: The Emperor’s New School is a Spin-Off Done Right Me: WRONG! Too much continuity snarls, for ignoring what happened in the end of the first movie.
I honestly believe this show is only as good as it is because of Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warburton. Like, the show probably would've been OK without them but the two of them are so entertaining and have such great comedic timing that they always make an episode worth watching, even if the episode is cliche or boring
When I was a kid I had absolutely no idea that the emporers new school was based off a movie and I literally didn't even watch the emporers new groove up until I was 14
The only thing I remember from this show is Ezma saying "Potato Salad" or some shit I don't even think she said that, it's just been years since I've heard this show
Hmmm… at first it seems like kuzco was turning into animals for the first couple of episodes. That would’ve gotten repetitive very quickly if they kept on doing that.
The story placement is that he was fired from his job how does the king of the world get fired now that's what doesn't make sense but he had to go to school to prove he could be a good emperor so he could get his job back
4:12 It's basically like baking ingredients: you don't eat the flour, the eggs, the sugar or the butter on their own, you first have to mix them all together in a right way to get yourself a rather tasty treat.😉🥚🧈

Even tho it's not as good as the original movie, that part alone justifies its existance to me.
The ending was satisfying, but I found it worth a watch just for the comedy. Has pretty much the same humor as the movie. Very fun to watch. Plus some additional character development.
Have you ever watched Clone High? I'd like to watch some analysis of that show. It was an animated series on MTV. Not nearly as funny as Beavis and Butthead so I think it was left behind but it's still a pretty cool concept for a show. Check it out!
I'd assume literally no one considering a new emperor could just randomly be placed in at one point. it was probably just a very silly situration of "Well, Yzma was legally assigned to be the fill-in, but we obviously can't give her the keys until we have no other choice, so I guess we're kinda screwed. Administration has to keep it stable until we have final results on Kuzco's ability to retain the position."

One thing that does not make any sense in context to the movie is when Kuzco asks Yzma at dinner if Kronk is in his late 20s. The perfect spin-off in my opinion
I really need to watch this on Disney+.
I didn't watch much of this show, since I was familiar with the OG Movie and the DTV Sequel Spin-Off starring Kronk
For the longest time I had never watched the actual movie and only ever watched this show so I had no context for anything but I really loved it

One thing that the spin off didn't retain is Yzma's homicidal trait since it's part of her character as a villain from the film.
