@@streetough - Well, some androids are actual androids. #19 is very much an android, being completely mechanical. Same with #16. #20, of course, was Gero's brain in a mechanical body, so I'm not sure what that qualifies as. If you go back to the original Dragon Ball, there's also #8, AKA Eighter, who I'm pretty sure is purely mechanical. #17 and #18 actually seem like they're the outliers of the group. Of course, you've also got Cell, and he's clearly a biologically engineered monster, not an android. For Dragon Ball, I think a more accurate term would be "Artificial Human," but even then, Cell wouldn't qualify.

Okay, a lot of people you fail to realize that his old girlfriend Maron is filler. Meaning she doesn't actually exist. If you're wondering why his daughter has her name, Krillin's real Japanese name is Kuririn. The name's a pun for a type of chestnut, and so is his daughter's name. Toriyama and the animators simply had the same idea.

Because of poor translation, it really should have been cyborg, not android, but the original Japanese uses jinzoningen which is a catch all term for anything biomechanical or robotic humans.

I want to share my thoughts,,18 is a hybrid human not a robot but doctor gero called them as androids
uptill 16 all of the robots Dr gero made were andriods but with 17 and 18 he actually used twins as base but didn't bother giving them a different name instead cyborg 1 and 2 he continued with the andriods naming scheme since the purpose was still the same "kill goku"
Nope, 17 and 18 are both genetically-modified, biologically-enhanced humans who've been entirely restructured at the cellular lelvel and remodeled using almost exclusively bio-organic components (i.e genetically-modified human cells that Gero cultivated in his lab).
There's only a minimal amount of machinery in their bodies: just a small perpertual energy reactor, an emergency shutdown mechanism that is made up of few tiny cybernetic implants, and of course the self-destruct mechanism that was removed by Shen Long as per Kuririn's request. And that's it! All the rest is 100% organic.
BTW, Gero didn't call them "androids". He called them "jinzôningen", which is an umbrella term in Japanese that includes all types of humanoid life form - organic or mechanical - that was created or modified by man through artificial means.
In other words, the term 人造人間 includes:
- *androids* (robots that look like humans) : 13, 14, 15, 16, 19
- *cyborgs* : #8/Eighter (human being with cybernetic implants), Gero himself (mechanical replica of his own body in which he had some of his organs transplanted)
- *genetically-modified humans* : 17 & 18
- *bio-roids* (organic humanoid life form that was artificially created through cloning and genetic engineering) : Cell, 21
