Didn't miss the joke. Lots of things are satire. Doesn't mean we shouldn't analyze them. It's fair game. If you mean that it wasn't actually a critique of capitalism but instead a defense made to sound like a critique, still fair game. Whatever can be used as a framework to criticize capitalism is valuable. But can you be more specific as to how I "missed the joke"?
I don't remember how I found this, but it wasn't easy to pirate. If you're only interested in watching the episode, this does have it in its entirety. All you have to do is skip the parts where I speak.
This episode reads, to me, like what would happen if a group of Socialist cartoonists decided to create a scathing satire of the corporate brainwashing process: The strict regimentation of the workplace, with a romanticization of the person in charge A focus on hygiene that goes well beyond the necessities of the job A creepily bright, upbeat tone An "Other" to ridicule in humorous ways An emphasis of unquestioning obedience to the boss The further subordination of the workers to external forces ("The Krustomer") And a refusal to allow the enthusiastic worker to engage in his preferred work until he's been sufficiently brainwashed; building up an almost addiction-like hype all the while
It might not have its ideology straight. It has some sympathies, but if it were so clearly proletarian, I find it hard to imagine Nickelodeon would allow it.
I think the show has a lot of Marxist undertones. Other episodes that demonstrate this are: Jellyfish Hunter, where Mr. Krabs (the capitalist) exploits the natural environment of Jellyfish Fields and the jellyfish themselves and reduces them to mere slaves to produce more product. SpongeBob even says “Eew, what smells like big business?” in the episode. Employee of the Month shows how the capitalists pit the workers against one another..there are many other examples. Such as the photo of a CEO resting his legs on the literal back of a worker while looking at a chart that shows profits skyrocketing while wages plummeting. I’ve always been a huge fan of the show, but I’ve learned to appreciate it even more in my 20’s when I notice these themes. And Squidward will always be the most relatable character for me.
I don't think formal dress is needed but hygiene is def important for food/medical field. I do actually put my hair up when I cook at home cuz hair is food is gross af
@@DemocratizeTheMedia I'm only joking :) It's just that the Krusty Krab is a product of Capitalism and you're comparing some of its aspects shown in the episode to ideals found in Socialism and Communism, not that it's bad to have some educated discourse on a subject like you are but it's just a little unusually funny because you wouldn't expect anybody to really take the time to do what you're doing. Do whatever you want, you're good. :D
You will never catch me Krabs, not when I shift into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!
You knew you should've gotten the turbo.

Austin Bryan if you don't want to listen to me, why not just find a video of the show?
Because this is the only one on UA-cam
Austin Bryan score!
Probably the most offensive video I’ve seen this was a joke don’t be so personal about it
So, do you think cartoons are above analysis because they're meant to be funny? Honestly, what was so offensive about this?

This guy looks like he’s pushing so hard to even speak, is it a condition or something? Just kindly asking, not being offensive btw
Yes. Cerebral Palsy.
It’s amazing just how much Marxist allegory can be placed in a kid’s show.
It's not blatant but it is there. And it's important.
It's official, Capitalism is the same as Communism 👌
With a name like yours I'm surprised you'd make that comment. What do you mean?

Why are you criticizing a kids show?
Why not?
Hahahahahah funny video man. It's supposed to be funny right?
It is supposed to be a joke, right?
Oh God...
The political commentary is sincere, if that's what you're asking. It's not satire. If you found it funny for other reasons, thank you.
Why does it sound like hes about to cry
swaganoodle Dude he’s pushing every word
