Located on Naval Construction Battalion Center - Gulfport, Shields offer two parks both with paved roads and level concrete pads. Just minutes from the Gulf beaches and tons of shopping.

Military campgrounds (or famcamps) are a great benefit to Active Duty, Guard/Reserve, Retired, and some disabled military. If you have any questions about eligibility to use them, please contact the military campground you are interested in visiting as each has slightly different rules. Looks like a nice place, especially the back section. We also like military campgrounds. One of our favorites is Blue Angel campground, in Pensacola. Two sections, Battleship row is concrete slabs and full hookups, while Anchor Cove is much more shady with sites a bit closer together. That said, Camp Ripley Minnesota is my favorite military campground. It is an Army training facility with a great little campground called DeParcq Woods. Water and electric only, but free firewood and free washers and dryers (at least when no training is going on. They also have a small museum.
We have not been to either of those campgrounds, but Blue Angel has been on our bucket list for awhile now. We will get there. We stayed at Eagle Hammock which is at Kings Bay in GA and they also had free washer/dryers. That was so nice!! I would love the firewood too. A lot of famcamps we have stayed at you could do fires. I would love it if they did.

Nice park! We’ve only been to Robbins AFB campground. We stayed there about 3 months in 2005. It was very nice.
As you guys get moving, I am sure you will find some more you like. The famcamps are a great perk for us.

I mean on a real note. it is a beautiful area. and wait. did you say next to a beach. and no you can't beat that prices. thank you again for sharing. love these reviews. blessings guys

That park is huge! I love that all of the sites are level and give you plenty of space to spread out. Lots of great amenities too. Close to the beach? Can’t beat that.

Looks a lot easier to get into and good level spots...Keesler is ok but it full and you get what you get...Lot of spots are unstable for mid to larger rigs... Hope the new FamCamp is setup better....Will Need to come visit y’all and check out shields...

Other than a hurricane little debris here and there that place looks pretty good. I like the second area better than the first area. It just looks a little more welcoming with all the trees. Thanks for sharing! Steve
The back area or second area is much nicer. It is quieter too. We like it there best.
Looks like a real nice place to stay. Love the room it has and the fact that most are pull through sites which is awesome. Thus far our favorite military place to camp is NAS ( Naval Air Station ) @ Corpus Christi. Been there numerous times and love the area. They have concrete or grass spots. Thanks for coming by! We actually have 2 videos on Keesler. One is the current Famcamp and one is the new one that we hope will be open soon. We went by the other day and it looks like they are done, but we haven’t heard of an opening date yet. It will be really nice when it is finished and open. Hopefully we will get to meet you when you get on the road.

Nice Military camp ground i need get list of these since i am vet i just got my American passport Life Time now working on others i have get them before Sept Full Time

You talk about retires and active duty getting reservations. What about disabled veterans?
I believe it is 100% disabled that can use them.
As far as I can find out it is a disability no matter the rating. What I was asking is how far in advance does a disabled veteran have to reserve a spot.
@@RickandDarcirvadventures Best to call the campground office but I believe it is about a year (same as retirees).

Military campgrounds are for active duty, retirees, and disabled vets. We really are appreciative that we have them here. You get to meet a lot of folks that have a similar background and that is super nice.
