We had an old Coachmen motorhome from the late 60's and that thing was amazing. Nothing ever broke. Windows didn't fall off. We camped out in it in the driveway and took it all over the country. We took it to the lake with our boat and had mega camp outs with family and friends. Now all RV's are junk.

Every person thinking about buying an RV needs to watch this video. After 25 yrs rving I verify that everything you said was true. Warranties are more trouble than they're worth, more accessories means more stuff to break, Rv's are made by the mfg just making it up as they build, and if you think your RV does not have something that needs fixing it just means you haven't been paying attention.

We purchased our first travel trailer from a family owned RV dealer in CT (All RV). They had been and still are in business since 1977. There was absolutely no pressure to buy, they took us through a bunch of RVs in our price range, spent three hours leading us through a pre-deliver inspection when we came to pick it up, had me do the hookup of the RV to my truck from start to finish and then took me on a half hour ride (I drove) to give me instruction on how to tow a TT since this was my first time towing anything and I was a little apprehensive. A few months later when I had a warrant issue (drain pipe in shower broke and running lights stopped working due to a short somewhere in the circuit) they worked with KZ to get approval to have the work done at an RV repair shop 15 minutes from my house instead of having to drive 6 hours to and from CT (would have been 12 hours total to deliver it and then pick it up) to have the work done. This wasn't for a $100K RV but a 22 foot $15K TG. It was only afterwards that I found out this type of customer service in the RV industry is NOT the norm even for $800K class A motorhomes.

Good job you two . Well let’s see we’ve been full time RVers for 3 years . I have replaced every screw on every cabinet door, one microwave, one converter one shower drain, one side window, one screen, one hood light switch , one GFI outlet , one gear pack for slide out , one hinge for hot water heater door . It’s always something. So glad I was in the automotive mechanic industry for 38 years . I have saved thousands on DIY . I generally carry just enough tools to get things done . Truth! Outside of the RV itself (which could be junk, so engage an inspector, new or used!) if it's a service they offer, almost guaranteed to be crap! The more expensive the "warranty", the more convoluted and mercurial the language that gets them out of having to pay! "Oh, sorry sir or ma'am, you bought it on a Thursday, we only cover RV's that were bought on a Wednesday!"

    First, you guys are adorable!
I wish I knew about the wholesale warranty idea. My sweet little gal has been in the service department since April. I was told it would be 2-3 weeks. I get to pick her up Saturday. The service manager “Ms Bell we are going to go ahead and put your camper in rotation and get this done and over with” with an attitude in which I called her out on. I have called them every single week. I finally got her to explain to me why I kept getting jumped over; their new sales and make readies are priority and I told her it should also be about return customers too. Told her my sis was looking but because of how they were treating me, she went elsewhere and purchased. Honestly it was about 5 warranty items that I probably could have done myself. Ugh!
Keep telling it like it is, thank you!

Exactly !!! You can't trust dealerships and you can save yourself thousands knowing how to do repairs yourself.
Preventative maintenance is the most important !
Camping world is the worst IMHO. I've had many clients pay for inspections at CW and CW told them to pound sand on fixing the issues !
All RV inspectors are not created equal either ! Do your research and ask a lot of questions !!! Make sure they are NRVIA certified.
If a dealership says you don't need a 3rd party inspection, ask them for documentation and date stamped photos of everything that they found wrong on their "PDI" before you sign anything ! Not going to happen !! The dealership is not going to give you a report that could be used against them or the manufacturer when things go downhill !!
The people doing these so-called PDIs are not techs in most cases. They are entry level employees that do a little bit of everything. One day they might be cleaning toilets and the next doing a PDI on your RV.
Thanks for trying to educate folks ! Good video...

You 2 are cool! Thank u for this information. I live out of a minivan on the road, I think I'll just stick with this and skip these overpriced, badly built smaller trailers. I'm guessing they may have issues just like the RVs.

The great memories are when the RV breaks down and the what you have to do to get it back on the road. Of course the memories become great after it all done, not so much fun when you are going through it.

Great advice! The only thing cheap about RVs nowadays is the way they are made. Do you guys hear much about the RVs that were pushed out the door during CV-19? I heard that some of those were either sold missing an appliance, or certain parts were substituted because they couldn’t get parts. Just curious.

If you can't fix it yourself, you should at least have an idea of how to troubleshoot and possibly even do the fix. When we had our kitchen remodeled, I had researched how everything was to be done correctly. When bids came in, and questions were asked by me, I knew who to hire and who had no idea what they were doing.

Truth is warranty work does indeed Payless then customer paid repairs. It is the same in all industries. Mfgs. Limit chargeable repairs to exact hours on eac warranty repair. Where as with the retail customers they can pad the bill for more on repair time covering tech mistakes installing wrong parts etc. there are good repair facilities out there . The important j thing to remember is everyone can have a off day. If you have a good repair shop don’t give up on them immediately. You could be cutting off your own nose to despite your face. Independent repair shops can be just as bad or good as the facilities that sell and repair Rv, cars, motorcycles, etc.

Great videos with Righteous Information in the corrupt RV industry!!!
No more quality control across the board.. Quantity not quality..
1-3 month wait to get your RV diagnosed after leaving it for 1-2 weeks then usually have to get approval say from Winnebago etc and after that make another appt for repair. Ok Rv back to repair shop for a few weeks.
    Etc
    Etc
And standards nor quality control are not like automotive industry
The crap they get away with is unbelievable.

you are correct that warranty work doesn't pay as good , but in reality it seldom pays at all and if it does it's hard to get approved, hard to get and harder to get paid from the warranty company.

Some RV builders, will cancel your warranty. If you use your RV too much. Using those apps. Sometimes gives them enough evidence to void your warranty. You have to look at everything from all angles.

New Rvs are so low quality. You're better off finding an old RV in the south or southwest away from the rust belt with low miles. You're 100% right also about keeping it simple. I have a 2017 A Liner. It's perfect for a single traveler like myself. So many RV companies sell the dream and for some it becomes a nightmare.

" When it's not broke folks, don't fix it!" I get exactly what you mean about the top shark companies and what not. When we bought ours the dealership pulled a part recall on a power plug (exterior) When they deliver it we didn't check it out until the next day and then realized they removed our shower hardware and never sent us anything regarding it's removal, no explanation what so ever. Yet claimed it happened during "processing." Future ref when RV shopping take photos and videos of every item on that rv.
