Seriously, you found the best channel/place for exactly that. I came back to MtG after hiatus, this fellow is the best efficiency of deck tactic and money saving Ive seen on teh U-toobs.
I have a really good Elf deck that I have not updated in two years. Some of these cards will make it even stronger. Thanks for the video Commander's Quarters.
I bought the precon and threw some elves I had laying around from the glory days in and it’s a blast to play. I really like having elvish promenade as another way to double your elves, Beast Whisperer to start going off and drawing a ton of low cost elves. Crown of skempfar is great as it can have your commander slug in for a ton of damage and make a ton of elves, and can even bring itself back. Also I haven’t played with her yet, but the new glissa seems very strong for this deck!
This is a great budget deck. However I would advise a Wolfrider's Saddle for Lathril. This equipment card is $0.05 and makes Lathril impossible to block. Her menace means they must block her with at least 2 creatures, but the saddle says she can't be blocked by more than 1 creature. And the +1/+1 on her means she produces more elves when she hits.
Alpha authority is a little bit more expensive (3$) but i think its better...With this shes hexproof and unblockable...for 2 Mana....there are already a lot of other elves who gives +1/+1^^
Feel like the golden pig of the deck should be seedborn muse, that untap is BRUTAL if 10 elves are put. They can tap on everyone’s turn and kill the table before it gets back to their turn. Kill on sight.
Been playing this deck for a while but with no max budget so I’ve got cards like Mana crypt, Behemoth, tutors etc. and it’s an absolute blast unless you’ve got meta with many mass removals. This deck can take up2 three board wipes, then you’re mostly out of gas and it’s super hard to rebuild. So everything like charm, eldrazi monument, heroic intervention is a must. As for the budget version, I’m surprised Staff of domination didn’t fit here, with Elvish archdruid or priest of Titania it’s a I win card. Same for Overrun, crazy card that’s winning the game in a spot. Everything is a matter of meta you’re playing with and your budget as there’s plenty of
I did that as well then looked at the cart there were multiple cards put in at the most expensive printings i think if i spent the time you could shave it down to close to the 30 as he said in the video
Running staff of domination to combo off of elvish archdruid or circle of dreams Druid (if you added) will be a garunteed game winner as long as you have more then 4 creatures on the field… gives infinite mana and infinite untapping and draw power.
Dude same 😂😂 I have kind of a high powered one but the idea of having a super cheap annoying one where everything costs like 2 and it just absolutely swarms sounds so fun
You guys are silly and correct. Just pick up the cards you need to make two “different” decks, with the same commander. I take loose leaf paper and make multiple lists to play with and swap out cards, depending on the power level of the pod or how I’m feeling that night. 🤘🏼🥂
Sword of Parun. Place it on your Archdruid, Wirewood Channeler, Priest of Titania, or Circle of Dreams Druid for all the mana you could ever want. Provided you've used Lathril at least once, you should have more life than everyone else. Now throw out Hurricane! Or add in Tyvar the Bellicose to watch those multi-mana generators become 20/20 creatures in no time flat. Or 1million/1million with the Sword! Also add Poison-tip Archer. DARE anyone to do a boardwipe. Oh, and Vitilizing Wind is hilarious when you have 20+ elf tokens
Really enjoy playing Lathril. Here are some cards I really like in my deck that are under $1, but first staff of domination is under$3 that card is #1 grab it anytime can get it. Here is the under $1 Evolutionary Leap - sac tokens to keep going Fallen Ideal - sac a token for +2/+1 and flying for evasion and gives you more tokens back than you sac Uncage the Menagerie - good for grabbing what you need Kamahl, Fist of Krosa - ramp wincon can also cause a board state advantage by animating your opponents land if a boardwipe occurs Tyvar's Stand protect your commander and possible 1 shot opponent and create a lot of tokens
Hey Mitch, I’m the kind of player who likes to put at least one planeswalker in every one of my decks. Any suggestions or ideas on which planeswalkers would work well with Lathrill?
@@NekoSauce I realize that it’s not the optimum play, but it’s still something that I like doing. However, with these suggestions I believe that I can make it work just fine. Thank you for your advice anyway.
I would put in a bit more cards supporting Lathril's first ability to create more token elves whenever he does player combat damage. In the current deck Timberwatch Elf and Immaculate Magistrate are great ways to pump Lathril and there are a few cards that give elves +1/+1. But I'd add one or two big pump cards extra. I'd also add a few cards to help his damage get through to the player, so cards that provide things like, unblockable, trample, flying etc. So for example cards like these: Key to the City ~30 cents, discard a card to make a creature unblockable Rogue's Passage ~30 cents, 4 mana an tap to make a creature unblockable Rime Transfusion, ~30 cents, equip it, +2/+1, pay one snow mana to make Lathril unblockable Suspicious bookcase, ~10 cents, 3 mana and tap it to make a creature unblockable Vorrac Battlehorn, ~30 cents, equip it, give it trample and only one creature can block to get combat damage through Whispersilk cloak (around 1 dollar), equip, give a creature shroud and make it unblockable Nighthowler, ~20 cents, enchant creature, give it +x/+X, where X is cards in all graveyards Wirewood pride ~20 cents, instant, gives creature +x/+x based on number of elves in play Aspect of Hydra, ~50 cents, instant, gives creature +x/+x where X is your devotion to green Elder of Laurels, ~20 cents, human, pay 4 mana (or more since no need to tap) giving a creature +x/+x where X is amount of creatures under your control Exoskeletal Armor, ~20 cents, enchant creature, gives creature +x/+x where X is amount of creatures in all graveyards Staff of titania adds +x/+x where X is the number of forests under your control, but it is closer to 5 dollars now
I thought I would have lots of fun with this deck... except these sort of decks are totally vulnerable to board wipes. My suggestion is to focus more on elves that enable land ramp, and focus ALOT on card draw cards. Cheap creatures in your deck are not that useful if you are constantly hellbent.
There’s a lot of negativity and unfair criticism that can be read on the internet so I’ll do my best to provide constructive feedback. This series of building budget decks is your bread and butter content for the channel, your golden pig if you will. I feel like around the magic 30 your content switch to more opinions around business decisions at WotC; which didn’t resonate with me personally - I’ll watch Rudy for that kind of content . Keep up the good work but for me the budget deck techs are so much better than the opinion pieces. They’re fun, upbeat and create a compelling reason to try out new cards.
I would like to point out that this is not elf ball. The original elf ball got it's name because it was a red/green elf deck who's main win con was Fireball. The deck then evolved into Elve's Bane once Banefire came out. Point is without Fireball or Banefire or any of the other X cost burn spells its not really an Elf Ball variant. At least not imo. What you got here is great don't get me wrong its just not Elf Ball. I will say though, this deck list is inspiring me to put together a list for a R/U/G Elf Ball. Unfortunately there's no elf commander in that set of colors but I think I found a commander that'll do the deck well: Animar, Soul of Elements. Ya ya ya I know. As if an elf deck needed to get any faster lol. The deck will produce mana out the wazoo, deal tons of damage, and even mill lol. I'm getting excited just thinking about it lol
I'm sorry, I saw "Elfball" and I laughed SO HARD, I'm not even gonna watch before I like, I blame eddie for making me laugh and holy mother of urza, stack this commander with rabble rousing and mondrak!!
Yo I started playing magic recently I’m still building my first deck and I gotta say these videos are extremely helpful and enjoyable

One of my personal favorite commanders and my first commander I purchased

The same for "rope" and it gives another toughness aswell

Was there a golden pig did I miss it?
Yup 9:40 mark, cryptic gateway
I've definitely won on turn 3 with Lathril, a few mana dorks, untap spells, and damage/ability doublers and she goes crazy.
Wait for the "break the bank" episode I guess
Ive been looking for a good budget elf deck. This is such a big help.
This looks like a super fun deck. Well done. I might have to make this one.
I'll have to take some time to go over this deck list to see what works for my own modified Lathril deck.
Been playing this deck for a while but with no max budget so I’ve got cards like Mana crypt, Behemoth, tutors etc. and it’s an absolute blast unless you’ve got meta with many mass removals. Hey mitch, you should try building pauper commander sometime! I think it would be really up your alley! 😊
Do they ever do break the banks anymore? I'd love to see this deck with a hundo budget.
When I added this Deck to my cart, it was a total of $308, so much for budget
I did that as well then looked at the cart there were multiple cards put in at the most expensive printings i think if i spent the time you could shave it down to close to the 30 as he said in the video
You have to watch out for the optimizing on tcg. Often, it gets more expensive for less total “packages.”
Remind me to posty build in the comments I've been playing this deck for a while and Im pumped to see this episode
Would love to see this being played. Great video☺️👍
Love the content! Keep up the good hard work!
Running staff of domination to combo off of elvish archdruid or circle of dreams Druid (if you added) will be a garunteed game winner as long as you have more then 4 creatures on the field… gives infinite mana and infinite untapping and draw power.
Lathril is my first and favorite deck, this video makes me want to make a 2nd lathril deck 😅
Dude same 😂😂 I have kind of a high powered one but the idea of having a super cheap annoying one where everything costs like 2 and it just absolutely swarms sounds so fun

That is powerful.
Thanks for this.
I just bought this deck through the link as is. Removed the lands, though, since I have so many forests and swamps lying around.
Wire wood lodge one green to untap target elf that's good add
We need a break the bank for this 😂😂

Oh, and Vitilizing Wind is hilarious when you have 20+ elf tokens
Cryptic Gateway is so good in any tribal deck.
Now we need the updated version
Think you can do the same for dinohuman tribal. Like dinotophia kinda of deck.
Really enjoy playing Lathril. Here are some cards I really like in my deck that are under $1, but first staff of domination is under$3 that card is #1 grab it anytime can get it.
Here is the under $1
Evolutionary Leap - sac tokens to keep going
Fallen Ideal - sac a token for +2/+1 and flying for evasion and gives you more tokens back than you sac
Uncage the Menagerie - good for grabbing what you need
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa - ramp wincon can also cause a board state advantage by animating your opponents land if a boardwipe occurs
Tyvar's Stand protect your commander and possible 1 shot opponent and create a lot of tokens
I bought this deck before COVID hit, and I just had a chance to run it yesterday. Thing is absolutely stupid lol
New jin-gitaxias deck tech please
Hey Mitch, I’m the kind of player who likes to put at least one planeswalker in every one of my decks. Any suggestions or ideas on which planeswalkers would work well with Lathrill?
Try Tyvar Kell.
Tyvar jubilant brawler is great and relatively cheap
@@NekoSauce I realize that it’s not the optimum play, but it’s still something that I like doing. However, with these suggestions I believe that I can make it work just fine. Thank you for your advice anyway.
Tyvar is Excellent in the deck, what are you on about lol.
Play Hatred in this deck!!!!!!!🎉🎉
I bought this as a precon and been meaning to upgrade it
Would love a non budget decklist. One of my bigger issues is getting hated out and board wipes over and over.....

Rogue's Passage ~30 cents, 4 mana an tap to make a creature unblockable
Rime Transfusion, ~30 cents, equip it, +2/+1, pay one snow mana to make Lathril unblockable
Suspicious bookcase, ~10 cents, 3 mana and tap it to make a creature unblockable
Vorrac Battlehorn, ~30 cents, equip it, give it trample and only one creature can block to get combat damage through
Whispersilk cloak (around 1 dollar), equip, give a creature shroud and make it unblockable
Nighthowler, ~20 cents, enchant creature, give it +x/+X, where X is cards in all graveyards
Wirewood pride ~20 cents, instant, gives creature +x/+x based on number of elves in play
Aspect of Hydra, ~50 cents, instant, gives creature +x/+x where X is your devotion to green
Elder of Laurels, ~20 cents, human, pay 4 mana (or more since no need to tap) giving a creature +x/+x where X is amount of creatures under your control
Exoskeletal Armor, ~20 cents, enchant creature, gives creature +x/+x where X is amount of creatures in all graveyards
Staff of titania adds +x/+x where X is the number of forests under your control, but it is closer to 5 dollars now
I have fun mana combo with umbral mantle and elvish arch Druid
I really wonder why so less people have Alpha Authority in their decks....It makes your Lathrill unblockable and hexproof...wow
I thought I would have lots of fun with this deck... except these sort of decks are totally vulnerable to board wipes. My suggestion is to focus more on elves that enable land ramp, and focus ALOT on card draw cards. Cheap creatures in your deck are not that useful if you are constantly hellbent.
Excellent deck! Too bad it cost $200+ on TCG.

fun thing about this deck, a fine tuned Lathril deck can churn out 11 elves by turn 3
Turn 1: Forest > Jeweled Lotus > Lathril (1 Elf)
Turn 2: Forest > Llanowar Elves > Elvish Mystic > Swing with Lathril (2 Elf tokens + 3 Elves)
Turn 3 Forest > Coat of Arms > Swing with Lathril > (6 Elf tokens + 2 more Elf Tokens + 3 Elves)
Subtract my cradle and my deck costs maybe $80 -$140ish that’s not including lands I’m old and never sold my collection I’m lucky
Provato ma sta sotto a wratte
Gruesome Fate. Each opponent loses life equal to the number of creatures you control. 2B for a sorcery. Wins me a ton of games.
I hate playing against Lathril lol
Lolololol
I'm sorry, I saw "Elfball" and I laughed SO HARD, I'm not even gonna watch before I like, I blame eddie for making me laugh
and holy mother of urza, stack this commander with rabble rousing and mondrak!!
"Extreme " is a huge stretch
How? Idk a whole lot about commander and power levels
I'll show you something extreme 😏
Save your money to put Vorinclex in this deck!
Side note I know it’s not budget but you could run mondrak glory dominus you could make twice the amount of tokens and it’s only a 4 mana 2 white cost
Lathril can’t be the commander then.
@@ethologist22 why not ?
first?
Second!
I hate fighting elves. So annoying so obnoxiuous of a deck to go against and so boring.
Well I'm sure elves hate playing against you too, so whiny and annoying and boring
Are you crying?
