I only learned of Nightwish following reaction videos during the initial covid lockdown a year ago. First I found Floor and thus Nightwish. I listened a little to Shoemaker, but put it on the shelf for awhile. So glad I did. I found that first I needed to get an education as to why I liked hearing Nightwish. Through the informed comments of vocalists, musicians, voice teachers, music teachers composers and long-term Nightwish aficionados, I gradually gained an education about Tuomas, the Nightwish journey, the passion of the Nightwish Army and the quality and expertise of each person. Only then could I come back, and through watching several reaction videos could I even begin to value and appreciate the tribute they gave to Eugene Shoemaker. Initially I knew I enjoyed Nightwish, but it was more like me eating at a greasy spoon diner and not knowing the quality of the cuisine at the French restaurant in the city. Today I feasted on Shoemaker and value even more what Tuomas, Floor and the entire group bring to us.
This is such a beautiful tribute. I've always been an astronomy fan, and remember when the Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet broke apart and slammed into Jupiter. Gene Shoemaker and his wife, co-discoverers of the comet, were frequently giving interviews during the period. I thought he was a charming, amazing person whom I admired greatly. I hope his family is honored.
"I can't wait to... put my headphones on, sit back and just marinate in this music". That phrase right there sums up this entire album absolutely perfectly. I love your choice of the word "marinate" here. Not only does it imply surrounding yourself with the music, but marination is also a transformative process. You can't come out of it without being changed for the better and I don't think there's a more apt phrasing for what this song and album can do. I don't know if this was a deliberate choice of words, or just a spur of the moment comment that nailed it perfectly, but either way very well said. Thank you for your words and wisdom on this.
The new album will be a monster live. I'm allready looking forward to what Tuomas plans to do (acoustically and visually). I allready know Floor will kill it live and with the energy, this band generates you can power the entire city for a week. It's gonna be sick. For me, Nightwish in general belongs to those things that I, as 48 years old middle aged male, regret that I haven’t found earlier than half a year ago. It’s really increadible band. We should give most of the credit to Tuomas and Floor, but all the other members as well. They all play so well together. And the last but not least... one of the best live bands ever.

This epic piece at some point stops being about Floor (Valkyrian goddess that she is) and the musicians and becomes a transcendent work of art. That's how powerful and moving it is. Floor/Nightwish are in a class by themselves, and we are the better for it.
Hello Christi, thank you for this reaction - yes, I'm back for a while, let's see how long I can last this time. Yes, Tuomas is a genius - Nightwish is a collection of musical geniuses. please don't misunderstand me about my first post. I never said that they don't have commercial success, they could have more success if they were more mainstream. But this is not what Tuomas and the whole band wanted. Even if you have an insight into the fan scene of Nightwish - for many people this album is "the worst" album Nightwish ever released. This album splits, I don't know if this is what was intended - for me personally it is by far the best album that has been released in the last decades. Precisely because it puts its main focus on poetry and composition.
Like a holy moment. Beautifully put and effectively it is a requiem for Shoemaker. The video also simulates his view, from his crater on the Moon looking back to Earth and the Sun. it blows my mind as I think about it and hear the eulogy.
What a wonderful reaction. Like you it is something I think we all need. The way you did it brought the beauty out in these uncertain times. In other songs on the album Floor sings in different ways. There is the song "Music" and "Pan". Even if you listen for yourself. It is an amazing album. Thank you so much. I could see that you needed it to. Take care and stay safe.
You're right, though more peoples ashes left Earth's surface. Most famous of them was Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek. From Wikipedia: Years after his death, Roddenberry was one of the first humans to have their ashes carried into earth orbit.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE omg what a gift from God she is and Toumas would love to pick his mind on how he comes up with these insane productions just BRILLIANT. Wish people here in the states understand and appreciate what real music is HATS OFF TO NIGHTWISH.....
Wonderdul reaction! I’ve been listening to this song on repeat and just crying. The ending truly is a holy moment and represents all the moments in life: birth, death, love, sorrow, joy, regret...Sending lots of love your way! ❤️
Me as a huge NightWish fan, can tell you, ther is another Dutch just 16 year old soprano singer that also sounds AMAZING. Her name is Amira Willighagen she's AWESOME too. Listen to her Amazing Grace at the Classics is Groot concert in South Africa when she was just 13. Also the Flower duet with Corlea Botha again at the age of 13 is fantastic. Her O Solo Mio duet with Patrizio Buanne when she was just 10 years old will blow your socks off. Do yourself a favor and watch her you will not be disappointed,on the contrary i think you'll be amazed. Have fun watching this little piece of dynamite.
i know what you mean, i keep listening to this song over and over, well, the entire album on repeat, actually! I like how you went back and reviewed individual pieces of the song after the initial listen. A lot of 'reactors' just listen to the song while filming themselves, then go 'oh wow, yeah that was another great one, okay bye!'. I appreciate the background info you provided before the song and the in-depth analysis!
Absolutely beautiful song. The male voice in the chorus is Troy and you can hear Floor behind his voice. Heard this so many times now and it still brings tears...
Hello Christi, I agree with you that the writing of Thoumas is work of a genie. With Floor they has the singer who can be challenced to almost everything, I certainly hope the keep bringout those masterpieces for thenext 25 years or so
This is a truly masterpiece! All of the songs are! You should react to the others songs of the album! And the acustic performance of How's the heart with just Troy and Floor, song from the album. All the love for you. ❤️
In the "chorus" there are Troy in the middle, Marko in the left channel and Floor joins in the right. Those harmonies are another sugar coating in NW's awesome songs.
@@joukokarjalainen8849 Oh yes, I haven't listened to it with anything else so it didn't evem cross my mind 😁. But it was already on that first listening that I noticed that there's something going on and really focused on listening to it.
After I seen that was Troy doing the male lead on the chorus, I didn't realize that he is very good. I knew Marco is awesome in vocals. After listening Nightwish albums for awhile, Tuomas created a masterpiece of this new album. I knew that he studied fine arts in music in Finland. As you know that Hard Rock and Heavy Metal got its roots in Classical. Because an anthropologist who is also a Metal Head did a multi parts documentary on the origins of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. He traced all way back to Mozart's time. Now, Tuomas blended both Hard Rock and Classical into Symphonic Metal.
I've been following your reactions for some months now and I can honestly say you are one of, if not the top go to's amongst UA-cam reactors for me. I appreciate the research before publication, providing great insight that many of us may have not picked up, and including nice little nuggets amongst the commentary. Also, superb post-reaction edited dialogues and analysis...you know talent when you see it. Great work...you are loved! Looking forward to many more Human Nature reactions from you. And yes.....this one is a repeat play. Can't wait to see them live hopefully at Wembley in December and please let this one be on the playlist!
Love love love this song. It touches my soul. Thank you for the video. If you are curious...You can hear more of Johanna Kurkela (Tuomas' wife) in Auri, or now Altamullen Road. Auri is a project she did with Tuomas and Troy (that's right, also of Nightwish) and it is incredible. Night13 is my favourite on that album. Altamullen Road only has one song out I believe - as far as I know. :) Thanks again, Christi!
Laudato Si Ad Astra is Latin and means "Praise be to the stars". This song is so beautiful I adore it, but if you're going in order: I cannot wait for the next one (Pan) - it's my favourite out of favourites because it's an ode to the human imagination and has references to so many stories. Shoemaker is up there. Honestly this entire album is probably my favourite album in years. It's phenomenal.
Just a thanks you for your lovely reaction. For listening to this piece of intelligent music. Never heard of Shoemaker so checking him out....... he has the most beautifull song to remind people about what he gave the world.
Yes, I like your comments about the sophistication, subtlety, and intelligence of Tuomas's song writing. Nightwish vocals are just so beautiful that sometimes we forget about how great the music itself is.
Troy is actually singing the male portion. Troy has a really great voice! He also is the lead vocalist on the song, "Harvest." Tuomas Holopainen wanted to be a Marine Biologist in his younger days. He evidently had a part of his gifts that was playing the piano and composing exceptional music. Oh...there is a live version of this song from their concert at "Pink Pop!" I have listened to the whole concert the day after the concert! I sang in one of those " Traveling Chorus' " back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. It was a lot of fun! I was one of the 3 guys that could sing the bass portions in our troop! We sang some C&W music that was popular at that time also...along with some of the skits our choir leader wrote for 5 of us guy's to perform.... Similar to the old TV show "Hee Haw!"
It doesn't have much in the way of vocals, but you HAVE to listen to Disc 2, "All the Works of Nature which Adorn the World." Tuomas's compositional genius is on full display there.
I just adore this song. Shivers down my spine every time at the end. It represents to me where the band is now. It evolved so much from hesitant but bursting with promise of gorgeous music. And here Nightwish(/Tuomas) is now. Completely at ease with the humongous talent of all these brilliant musicians and capable of expressing whatever inspires. It just blows my mind and I know that this is basically just a small preview of what is to come. There is a reason the Nightwish army always wants reactions to live shows. I simply can not wait to see Floor belt out those last notes. Maybe it will be postponed due to Corona but some day were going to see that performance. And your review of it!😁
Thank You Christi. You and Elizabeth Zharoff are the best reviewers on earth .Just like Nightwish is the best band and Floor is the best singer.THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!
Subbed - Your analysis of several of Floor's songs have added to my understanding. I have been a Floor fan 'Floorever...' Since After Forever:) But it has only been since 'reaction video's' that I have learned about all of the vocal techniques etc... The beauty of the voice as an adjunct to music has always captured me, and female vocalists in particular... It is fascinating to understand physics, apply it to human anatomy and then realize the massive undertaking to master the techniques to gain the most from those possibilities and limitations. I suppose it is just like anything, the more you know the more you realize how little you understand... because everything is complicated. Oh how I wish I had studied at least some formal music in my youth. Thanks for sharing!
I'm really picturing the 1st concert of Nightwish after the pandemic full of all the vocal coaches, musicians and producers that had been reacting to their music and are now fans xD
Hi, Christi. I'm sure that you've shared your love of Nightwish with your keyboard playing husband. I'm curious as to what his reaction has been to all this superb music.
NEVER KLICKED SO FAST!! [Edit] Alright SO... Absolutely wonderful reaction as expected, thank you so much for your detailed thoughts and analysis! I love how much you were appreciating the composition and layers, and thanks to your words I now immediately started dreaming of such a concert event as well... Great idea!!! And at the end... "holy moment" just nailed it. I'm always on a loss for words, so thank you for finding some! ;) As much as you enjoyed this one I can't help but need you to react to 'Music' as well, you will definitely ADORE it. I have listened to that song at least 30 times by now and still always hear some details I had never realized before. The lyrics and meaning are wonderful there just like with Shoemaker, and I'm sure you'd be stunned by how stunningly Floor manages to sing those 'mad songwriter' vocal melodies. (There's also a very high part in 'Music', totally different from the one in Shoemaker, but also VERY notable.) Looking forward to your next video(s)!!!
The male singer is Troy in this one he is the one who does the ullieann pipes, low whistles, and other instruments this is prob one of my fave songs from the album the whole album is pretty good just the one song that i am having trouble liking its one i need to work on, and the imagery on the album is just wow
I love this song and was so excited to see your reaction. Wonderful. Floor said in a video about this song that the verses were a nice challenge for her because of the odd rhythm. But she enjoyed it. She also loved the operatic part at the end. So happy that you enjoyed it. If you want to hear more from Tuomas's wife, Johanna Kurkela, then look at some of his solo projects. The song, A Lifetime of Adventure features her and she is also truly wonderful. This is the link. ua-cam.com/video/JWwSVOo5K_k/v-deo.html
This song is a true masterpiece. Pure beauty. And yet so meaningful. I love it. And thank you for your genuine reaction. you love it too. Stay well and safe.
Well you have done it again a beautifully done reaction that was troy singing good song to wake up to and a wonderful person reacting to it thanks good morning
I love your videos and your shining positivity! ;) Floor did perform one song from the new album live -- How's The Heart (acoustic, guitar-only version with Troy), it is so beautiful and powerful!
I'm so happy to see Nightwish in the Middle of 2023 in Berlin. My first time to hear Floor live. Maybe you could react to the Song Winner from beste zengers, that Floor sing?
Wow. Thanks. Now I will wait for a reaction to the studio version of Haggard - Eppur Si Muove; Haggard - Per Aspera Ad Astra; Nightwish - Slow, Love, Slow; Edenbridge - The Bonding; Therion - The Wondrous World Of Punt, Diablo Swing Orchestra - Ricerca Dell anima. These are also some of my favorites for symphonic metal styles, folk metal and jazz metal. I’ve been listening to some of them for more than 15 years (since the release) and every time I am in a daze when the music calms down. Sincerely, sound engineer and music lover from Russia =)
The _Eternal Earthrise_ really tantalises me, I really want to see the night sky from Shoemaker's resting place.... The Moon wobbles a bit, but he is near the South pole, in some large crater... and I know Tuomas is a genius and his lyrics are often more literal than people think....
Hi Christie, I didn't realise how much I missed your reactions to Nightwish until I watched this one. I do believe I saw your eyes well up at the operatic ending... I had exactly the same response when I heard it for the first time. I would really like your opinion on the song "Procession", also from this new album. The song seems to be the least popular on the album, but for some reason, Floor's voice just sounds angelic. I would be interested to know if she did anything "technical" to achieve the timbre and tone. Stay safe and warm wishes to you and yours from Cape Town, South Africa
Thanks for this amazing and competently reaction. You have a beautiful voice as well and i could listen to your reaction videos for hours. Greetings from germany
Perhaps I'm wrong but, that water glow in your eyes at the last part was the proof that this song hit you somehow (professionally, emotionally, personally, etc...). This song is such a masterpiece! Nice reaction!
I love the use of the word "marinate" .....lol....it's perfect! Tuomas said it was a concept album, and my opinion is that one should approach it from that point of view. As the individual songs were dropped before the album was released, the only one I really "liked" was Harvest. After they released the album and I listened to whole album, it all fell into place and, after listening to it a few times, is now my favorite of this band. (and that includes the instrumental side). I do hope that you Christi, get the chance to do just that, listen to the entire piece, without interruption.
There's a lot to the lyrics. "Eternal Earthrise" refers to what one would see from Shoemaker's resting place: the Earth hanging on the horizon. (Since the Earth doesn't move in the Moon's sky, it's eternally rising.)
Hiya christi this song is a master piece so well written and a feast for the mind.....i'am loving your reaction so perfect to listen to this masterpiece with the tissues.......

This album splits, I don't know if this is what was intended - for me personally it is by far the best album that has been released in the last decades. Precisely because it puts its main focus on poetry and composition.
@@rolfschonmuller8484 absolutely agree! Very well said.
@@jukkahelminen9071 in Finland is no surprise though, there are more metal bands than cattle in that country.
Her singing has travelling feel 👀 The other male voice is Troy, the multi-instrumentalist. And Tuomas's wife reads the poëtry 🐱👤🌹👌
Also, Marko was in the harmony as well. I believe Tuomas has said that all three singers sing in every song.
Marco's voice is really subtle in this one
A very respectfull reaction to this beautiful master peace of music, thanks.
"How's the Heart" is a favorite of many fans but the acoustic performance with Floor and Troy (Planet Rock) might be better than the album.
Different, not better :)
@@ICBMSteve For some (including me) the difference is between a subpar (compared to the rest of the album) song vs a superior song.
All the choruses are performed by all three singers (Troy, Marco, Floor) with varying degrees of prominence.
@@ICBMSteve if you listen carefully you can hear all three in the choruses
@@dirkschmidt2276 Yes. Up is dominant Troy, in the middle on the right is Floor and down on the left is Marko.
@@mordekaieugenis1202 Hm... I'm hearing Marco to the right and Floor to the left. Strange.
"Just marinate in this piece of music".Love this sentence.Great reaction.
Has your your album gotten to you yet, Ann?
The last part makes me cry
every

time
The last part is simply transcendental.
He's not one of the people, he is the *ONLY* people who is "buried" in another extraterrestrial surface.
Love the reaction, as usual
You're right, though more peoples ashes left Earth's surface. Most famous of them was Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek. From Wikipedia: Years after his death, Roddenberry was one of the first humans to have their ashes carried into earth orbit.
Awesome breakdown of this masterpiece ..it gives me cold chills every time i hear it ..and the instrumental on the second cd is just ...WOW...
My second favorite song off HN, close behind Tribal. Had tears in my eyes hearing Floor at the end. Another Tuomas masterpiece!
Her voice is a drug...... Amazing , great reaction thanks.
ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE omg what a gift from God she is and Toumas would love to pick his mind on how he comes up with these insane productions just BRILLIANT. Wish people here in the states understand and appreciate what real music is HATS OFF TO NIGHTWISH.....
This Album is a Masterpiece. Music, Pan and Endlessness are massive songs alongside this one. But overall this is a masterpiece.
Indeed. The question "have you ever heard music?" cannot be more appropriate in that song. Fanning the flames of a mystery indeed!
Whats the name of the album??

Hallo, wonderfull reaction..First time hearing The Laudadato SI blows me from my sofa.. i know Floor can doOpera.. but in this Song it is Awesome
And this, dear NW-friends, was the most beautiful comment about a musical composition, I've ever heard. ❤️
Hi Christie. in the choir part they sing all 3, troy as well as marco and floor. great to listen to. be safe and loved.
The coda of this song is so beautiful, it gets me every single time -- and I heard a few (read: dozens) times already.
Wonderdul reaction! I’ve been listening to this song on repeat and just crying. The ending truly is a holy moment and represents all the moments in life: birth, death, love, sorrow, joy, regret...Sending lots of love your way! ❤️
The smile on your face says it all... Thanks for the reaction.
Wel, the whole new album is magnificent.
This album is a grower and definitely deserves multiple listens to really immerse yourself into the music but once you do.... Holy crap is it amazing.
i know what you mean, i keep listening to this song over and over, well, the entire album on repeat, actually! I like how you went back and reviewed individual pieces of the song after the initial listen. A lot of 'reactors' just listen to the song while filming themselves, then go 'oh wow, yeah that was another great one, okay bye!'. I appreciate the background info you provided before the song and the in-depth analysis!
Love your reactions. You seem to be such a lovely person
Absolutely beautiful song. The male voice in the chorus is Troy and you can hear Floor behind his voice. Heard this so many times now and it still brings tears...
Hello Christi, I agree with you that the writing of Thoumas is work of a genie. With Floor they has the singer who can be challenced to almost everything, I certainly hope the keep bringout those masterpieces for thenext 25 years or so
And this is why Nightwish only brings albums every 2 or 3 years. It takes time to come up with something like that!
I just went two Nightwish concerts last weekend and this was in both live. Absolutely amazing ❤️
Yes I notice same thing listening with headphones. You are right!
Can't wait to hear them live!! Thanks for the reaction! Stay safe and healthy!
The male voice you mentioned is Troy their multi-instrumentalist. This album has all three of them singing.
Actually if you listen carefully there’s three voices in the chorus, with Troy as lead vocal indeed and backed by both Floor and Marco I presume.
@@b.munster2830 Yes I spotted that too.
Never heard of Shoemaker so checking him out....... he has the most beautifull song to remind people about what he gave the world.
an achingly beautiful song and story behind it
You are very right my dear. Just lush in this greatness.
Yes, I like your comments about the sophistication, subtlety, and intelligence of Tuomas's song writing. Nightwish vocals are just so beautiful that sometimes we forget about how great the music itself is.
'Marinate in this piece of music' That's a quote I will remember!
Troy is actually singing the male portion. Troy has a really great voice! He also is the lead vocalist on the song, "Harvest."
Tuomas Holopainen wanted to be a Marine Biologist in his younger days.
As a space geek, an amazing song, super tribute, a soaring cosmic compilation..unbelievable
Of course the pandemic wasn't anticipated but this music was released exactly when the world needed it to be.
And you are loved too Christi. Greetings from The Netherlands.
#musicismyreligion
That ending is beyond epic Way beyond!
You are so lovely person. Thank you for your reaction video! :)
I wish you and your family good health and pleasant stays! :)
Greetings from Europe
I'm really picturing the 1st concert of Nightwish after the pandemic full of all the vocal coaches, musicians and producers that had been reacting to their music and are now fans xD
Hi, Christi. I'm sure that you've shared your love of Nightwish with your keyboard playing husband. I'm curious as to what his reaction has been to all this superb music.
NEVER KLICKED SO FAST!!
[Edit]
Alright SO...
I'm always on a loss for words, so thank you for finding some! ;)
As much as you enjoyed this one I can't help but need you to react to 'Music' as well, you will definitely ADORE it. I have listened to that song at least 30 times by now and still always hear some details I had never realized before. The lyrics and meaning are wonderful there just like with Shoemaker, and I'm sure you'd be stunned by how stunningly Floor manages to sing those 'mad songwriter' vocal melodies. (There's also a very high part in 'Music', totally different from the one in Shoemaker, but also VERY notable.)
Looking forward to your next video(s)!!!
The male singer is Troy in this one he is the one who does the ullieann pipes, low whistles, and other instruments this is prob one of my fave songs from the album the whole album is pretty good just the one song that i am having trouble liking its one i need to work on, and the imagery on the album is just wow
I love the wolf howl at 5:19 then a birds eye view going across the surface. It gives me goosebumps.
The year is 2020 and Operatic Power Metal is thriving. Excellent analysis!

Another wonderful reaction and your warmth and feelings are as beautiful as the song such a blessing during these troubling times
The guy that sings in this song is Troy Donockley, the british guy who plays uilleann pipes, flutes and all kind of stuff in the band.
I still cry every time I hear it
Every single reaction is constructive, but also ... just a joy to listen to and watch. Thank you!
Thank you for honouring this beautiful song with a lovely reaction, I really enjoyed it.
I alrededy cant wait for Nightwish to go on tour again and see Floor singing this live. Is so beautiful
Hallo, Johannas spoken words from Romero & Julia, and than Floors Laudato SI blows me away..This is MUSIC..
Just can't stop listening to this song and cry. Oh my voice is so ugly but wanna make me scream out how much i love my planet.
Stay safe and warm wishes to you and yours from Cape Town, South Africa
i like procession but endlessness just goes nowhere for me. my least favorite song on both cd's.
Procession is right there with Shoemaker as my highlights of the album.
@@dougmphilly 'endlessness just goes nowhere for me.' Yeah, that's the definition of endlessness.

Heartfull, sincere and moving reaction. As always 😊. I think Floor’s technique for the ending part is simply speechless. Loves from France, take care
Metal is so blessed to have Tuomas such an amazing amazing composer
The Shakespeare quote narrated by Tuomas wife , was engraved and taken with the ashes to the moon .
Tuomas his wife and singer in the band Auri, where this whole album is inspired on.
There's a lot to the lyrics. "Eternal Earthrise" refers to what one would see from Shoemaker's resting place: the Earth hanging on the horizon. (Since the Earth doesn't move in the Moon's sky, it's eternally rising.)
Haven't clicked play yet, but just want you to know how much I've been looking forward to you reacting to this, and "Music". Thanks you doing this.
Hiya christi this song is a master piece so well written and a feast for the mind.....i'am loving your reaction so perfect to listen to this masterpiece with the tissues.......
I think you would really appreciate Planet Rock’s acoustic production of Nightwish’s "Hows the Heart" with just Floor and Troy. It’s absolutely beautiful. Check it out!
