A Dutch television show documented Floor’s reunion at her music school and followed her to a concert in Finland, that her parents attended. It gives you a lot of insight as to who Floor is as a person. Here’s a link: ua-cam.com/video/zRqqma4kWIg/v-deo.html
So, let me tell you something that is going to drop your jaw. The live version you chose is from Pinkpop 2022. On that very day, she did something I have never seen many artists do. This was the second concert she did that day! Earlier that day she did a full concert as a solo artist, only to climb up on stage a few hours later and do a full concert with Nightwish. How she even has any power left in her voice is beyond me!
@@rnowak85You're 100% spot on. Hellfest, and Daichbrand , were hands down the most stellar performances because the audio guys were vigilant in the controls. Tha makes a huge difference when the audio men do a good job.

@@rnowak85 Pinkpop is in the Netherlands, so you should say the temperature in degrees Celsius (you can say the same for almost every country in the world) 😉
A few interesting things about Pinkpop. Before this performance earlier in the day, Floor sang a one hour solo show. Metallica were the headliners and James Hetfield was in the wings watching this performance. There's a clip on YT of James going all giggly fanboy over Floor. At a later Metallica concert in the Netherlands, a support band dropped out and Metallica asked Floor to fill in with her solo show, despite it having only a few metal songs in it.
So ,... Eugene Merle Shoemaker (April 28, 1928 - July 18, 1997) was an American geologist. He co-discovered Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 with his wife Carolyn S. Shoemaker and David H. Levy. This comet hit Jupiter in July 1994: the impact was televised around the world. Shoemaker also studied terrestrial craters, such as Barringer Meteor Crater in Arizona, and along with Edward Chao provided the first conclusive evidence of its origin as an impact crater. He was also the first director of the United States Geological Survey's Astrogeology Research Program. He was killed in a car accident while visiting an impact crater site in Australia. After his death, some of his ashes were carried to the Moon with the Lunar Prospector mission. The spoken word in this is done by Tuomas Holopainen's Wife Johanna Kurkela ( a section from Romeo And Juliet is also carved Eugene's urn ). "Shoemaker" has become a favorite song of NASA's scientific community. Tuomas has a deep inclination towards science and this is reflected in many of his plays. This ensured the entry of Nightwish into the history books of science, several discoveries in the field being named after them. These new discoveries include: Alpenglow Rockshelter: Archaeological site named after Nightwish Song. Tanidromites Nightwishorun: New Crab species. Sciophila Holopaineni: New species of Mosquito found in Finland. Ophiomitrella Floorae: New species of Cretaceous brittle star named after Floor Jansen. Tmesisternus floorjansenae: new species of beetle named after Floor. Song from Human. :II: Nature and it is a Masterful Album !!!! AND The new Bass Player Jukka "Gentle Giant" Koskinen ( Yes, he is taller than Floor 😁). Jukka Koskinen is a Finnish musician, who is the bassist for the Finnish band Wintersun. He was also the bassist for Norther from 2000 until their disbandment in 2012, for Amberian Dawn from 2010 until 2013, for Cain's Offering from 2009 until 2014 and for Dark Sarah in 2014. In May 2021, he was revealed as Nightwish's session bass player for their world tour in 2021 and 2022, and later joined the band as their new bass player in August 2022. Also, I have experienced this "Live" myself, and, it was sellar Experience.... NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘

Tuomas and Floor were not satisfied with the ending at first. After Floor tinkered with it at her home studio and with the choir added it became this masterpiece. Tuomas still had his doubts however if this one could be done live, but Floor convinced him that she could pull it off and she surely did. And also considering that a few hours earlier she did a solo performance of an hour at an other stage of this festival in the soaring heat that day.
I just love hearing Floor NAIL that ending Operatic part!!!! This was in the Netherlands AFTER Floor became a household name there after her 2019 appearance on season 12 of the Dutch TV singing show Beste Zangers, so the Dutchies REALLY got to hear Floor doing Floor!!!
Laudato si ``Praise be to you`` , Ad astra ``To the Stars``. Just beautiful vocals!! The Hellfest concert in 2022 is also great. On a side note you may already know that Floor is married to the drummer for Sabaton that I see you react to also
I withessed that ending here in Buenos Aires, truly mesmerizing what she can do with her voice. Cheers!!! PS: appoint another one for a double reaction... "How's the heart" official and Planet Rock versions, jawdropping. PS.2: If you like Planet Rock version (and you will) there's a version of Nemo in the same setup for you to enjoy.
There is a difference........they're better live. I have stood 30 feet from Floor singing this live and it is astounding. Nice reaction though man.....keep up the good work!
Last summer in last concert in Finland she sang this, told us to sing along...it's get a little high in the end she said...no sh..t😂😂😂. Greatings from Finland and thank you for this.
I have met Floor at seven meet and greets in Canada in 2016 and 2018. You are absolutely correct. She has the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen and I was in my sixties then.
Shoemaker live Hellfest 2022 is for me the best for she sang the last part with sunset and you see also the fans better and better sound. great reaction
The album Human :||: Nature came out during Covid lockdowns so all the reactions are of the album versions simply because they had to postpone the tour twice and it was a long wait for any live stuff. I gladly kept my tickets and waited and boy was it worth it. New album coming out some time this year and I'm so excited to see what they bring this time.
Floor said that this song was a challenge to get it right. The male voice is not Marko but Troy. Heard this one live in november 2022 in ZIggo dome Amsterdam and it was Epic. As the whole concert was!
BTW: Nightwish uses all the way the same grade audio equipment in the live concerts than in the studio... they really do not cut any corners in order to provide the highest quality experience as possible for the live audience...
I prefer this recording as you can see very well how much WORK it is. Floor has the talent, many years of study and decades of experience, but it is also plain hard work!
The voice doing the spoken Shakespeare quote is Tuomas' wife, Finnish pop/folk singer Johanna Kurkela. Johanna, Tuomas and Troy also form a folk trio called Auri. It is not metal but is nevertheless fantastic. Her voice is magical, like something straight outta fairy land. In case you are interested, I recommend a song called Night 13. I'm convinced that Tuomas can compose anything.
„O.P.“ is Jukka Koskinen, the genious former Bassist from Wintersun, where Drummer Kai also played before. I suggest you to react to „Time“ and/or „Sons of winter and stars“ from Wintersun.
I always thought the idea of a siren singing and luring sailors onto the rocks was a silly idea. But if Floor Jansen was sitting on a rock in the sea singing, my ship would be heading straight for destruction.
It would be the coolest thing to see Floor in the Pirates movies as a mermaid singing the bridge part from "Yours is an empty Hope". It is literally a siren call
Love the double reaction...hits deep in your soul...so good thank you. The Hellfest concert in 2022 is my fav live version with the crowd and the sunlight...MAGIC...all they do is MAGIC
I think after (most of) a tour, and album and another tour with the band, Tuomas had a real sense of what Floor could do by this album, and she pulls out some amazing vocal acrobatics through a bunch of song on it. You see and hear a lot of labels thrown her way on all the different YT reactions ... "Siren", "Valkyrie Goddess", "Metal Queen" etc ... well i have an other one: "Cheat Code"
I was captivated by Kai's rapid drumming effect. Thomas deliberately challenged Floor on this song because he knew she could do it and it is complex to sing. Well done!
Idk if someone already said it but in the studio you hear 3 voices in the harmonies. Mario was still in the band when they recorded the album (Human Nature) ;)
Enjoyed your reaction. One of my top 5 Nightwish songs. Personally I like the lyric video version best. The visuals, especially at the end, just take the epicness of the experience to the next level. From the 2020 Human Nature album. Originally the band didn't think they would be able to perform this live, especially the rapid pitch changes and phrasing in the beginning. Supposedly Floor asked where she was supposed to breathe when Tuomas first gave her the vocal melodies. But Floor pushed to do the song live and it was a highlight of their Human Nature tour. Others have done a good job explaining who Eugene Shoemaker was and the fact that a small portion of his ashes is on the moon is very cool and also gives deeper meaning to some of the lyrics ("Now you've been tucked in For eternal earthrise and wonder" and "Yours is the whole graveyard of heavens"). The quote from Romeo and Juliet that is spoken by Tuomas's wife, Johana Kurkela, is the words that Shoemaker's wife had engraved on the capsule containing his ashes which is why it is in the song. You should checkout some of Johana's work as well. She is a well know and respected pop/folk singer in Finland. In addition to her projects she also has one with Tuomas and Troy called Auri. Beautiful atmospheric, almost folky music. Some of my favorites are The Space Between, Desert Flower, and The Valley. I worked at NASA in the manned spaceflight program for 15 years and this song is not only a tribute to Eugene Shoemaker but a ode to humanities desire to explore and push out into the universe beyond our home. I hope this song continues to inspire people all over the world to support exploration and manned spaceflight.
Just a suggestion.. for me, Nightwish is always best served with a bit of research. The meaning behind the lyrics is of essence for me, maybe it could be good for you too?
I think the difference is they rehearse a lot in tours. I mean a lot. I think they do the whole setlist two times each day, apart from the live show. That, and the sound technicians are the secret.
They are definitely better live than studio… there is something in studio I feel does not capture the nuances and emotion and power of Floor’s voice as you hear live. Here is the first time this played live …I think to see if could do it live (as all the fans wanted to hear it and requested it on Floor’s chats/livestreams). Was from a small pre-tour show. Guy in front of camera has legit goosebumps on final part. They are THE tightest band I’ve ever heard live …and I’ve seen a ton of people. ua-cam.com/video/N5R6q2GsTgA/v-deo.htmlsi=3w5lknLElS_3g7kz
If you want to see and react to Floor in full Opera Mote look at O Mio Babbino Caro live at (Tiende van Tijl 2013). It is a short song, but you will blown away
One word comes to mind listening to Nightwish, especially songs like this: "epic"! Great point about the sound quality Nightwish get when live. Awesome technical work.
The visuals with the video add so much to the song, and I always seem to appreciate the live versions better for their energy in delivery. It appears that Nightwish and certainly Floor tap into the energy of the audience to deliver “more”.
I rarely see it suggested, but, I would really enjoy it if you could react to "Nightwish - Endlessness" from the same album as this, the official music video. Marco takes the primary vocals on this one, and it is one we will probably never see live with him :(
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but the voice reading the William Shakespeare quote from Romeo and Juliet is Tuomas' wife Johanna (a singer in her own right) - and for another interesting twist, Tuomas, Johanna and Troy are in a band called Auri (aided by a certain Kai on drums...) and have released two albums (2018 and 2021) - the first of which topped the Finnish album charts - more music for you to explore, full of keyboards, pipes and whistles - it's not Nightwish, it's more acoustic/folk with a touch of prog, but it is Tuomas..... I Hope Your world Is Kind (ua-cam.com/video/UgI0WnTdqyc/v-deo.html) or Pearl Diving (ua-cam.com/video/jiD_YdKCYTk/v-deo.html) as examples....
Ok, I'll tell you what I think. I think your eyes are red from smoking. Oh, you meant what I think about the song! My bad, I'm stoned. lol. I think the whole studio album is amazing. You can hear every little detail. All the orchestra and choir parts audible. That being said, Nightwish is very good live. Very on point. As soon as this album came out, I put it on my playlist. So I didn't have a chance to hear it live then. Most of the songs from other albums in my playlist, are from live performances. So which one is better when it comes to Shoemaker? The answer is: Yes!
I totally agree about Jukka looking like Opie and fun fact the drummer in her previous band Revamp looks like Opie also in their live video of Disdain from 2010
The live performance from Diechbrand festival is much better sound and visually. This is in tribute to Eugene Shoemaker. Marko was on the studio recording, but not the tour.
They are always best live but im always happy that the studio is reacted to first so you can see the words. Very difficult lyrics to sing to and remember.
I believe it's Marko on the bass on the album version, and he is singing with Floor and Troy on a very quiet line and third harmony in that amazing quiet "bridge", obviously only on the album version. Marko left not long after they finished recording that album, if memory serves correctly. Please anyone correct me if I have something wrong here! Jukka Koskinen absolutely looks like Opie from SoA! Just a less "stout" Opie lol!
That is the correct sequence: first the video after doing some reading about this song, then: live! And about the Siren: @KenLavigne commenting on Floor singing (TGSOE): “Is she a sorceress, is she a Siren, is she a warrior princess, is she all three?”
The first is a great introduction to this song plus it is a good lyric video. Once you know the song then the live version becomes amazing. BTW Troy didn’t replace Marco. All three sang in the recording Floor, Troy, and Macro.
you're right this audio recording is not the best possible like it always happens at festivals (unless you record your own live dvd) and her voice is immaculate. I watched this song recorded on a simple phone and her voice was incredibly present and strong and perfect.
While Nightwish live performances are always spot on/nearly perfect, don't sleep on their music videos. They put a whole lot of talent and creativity into them as well.
I loved Sons of Anarchy, "I got this." You should really check out this song at Hellfest 2022, even better, full on body chills at the end. For me Floor is the GOAT, and the Valkyrie Goddess.
It is how you look at it imo. Hellfest and Deichbrand maybe had better sound, but i like this one, because the cameraman took her faceal expressions perfectly
I think you said in an earlier reaction to NW that Floor "is going to kill us ..and we're gonna like it" 😂😂 That is a bit culty I know 😂 but not far from the truth 👍🤘 That day at Pinkpop it was really hot and that's why the guys look a bit more fatigued than they would normally do. Floor on the other hand seems unfaced by it. That's why she is our queen, among a myriad of other reasons ❤
NW is better live than recorded. Guitars tend to be a bit harder, there is added punch from the pyro and then there is the crowd. - unless you're unlucky and you have some teenagers trying to outsing Floor right behind you :-). On the Human :||: Nature tour I've seen them live three times (Helsinki, my home town Stuttgart and their final show - at least for a while in Vaasa, Finland. Sound was always amazing, no matter if it is an indoor arena show or an outdoor one.
Floor did a solo live performance earlier that day, it was bloody hot that day and apparently her in ears were not working properly. Still it was magic hearing this live
The sound guys have always been epically good. I've never heard crappy sound at a Nightwish gig. And I've never experienced the intensity as painful either.
Good to do both a live and the studio version. However, this isn't the best live version: the Hellfest version is better, as is Deichbrand. The mix on this live version isn't very good compared to the others; in particular, Floor's vocal is better on other live versions. Also, the sense of atmosphere in the audience is better at Hellfest. I do love the studio version though and you also get to hear an accurate rendition of all of the lyrics, which are so complex with different lines in every verse, they often get, how shall we put it, 'simplified' in the live versions. The contention was, could Floor sing the 'Laudato Si, Ad Astra' section live? She can and she kills it.
If you wanted to, you could react to MORE Showmaker. The sound technicians are meticulous at both Hellfest and Deichbrand festivals. Hellfest was another hot day, and Deichbrand is a night concert. Both are much better than PinkPop. I like the concept of reacting to the quality from the various venues. This composition is incredible. Thank you for the double feature. Hoping for more. It's fun this way.. Cheers. 🍺
This was the quirkiest moment on the Human:Nature tour when Floor always introduced this as the 'sing along song of the album' 😂😂😂 It's shivers all the way down your spine when that ending hits. Phenomal piece of music. Very fond memories. Also according to Floor and Tuomas the most difficult song on the album to get right during recodings. They took months to perfect this ending Floor once said in an interview. Another fun fact: This show was played mere hours after Floor had pulled off a solo show at Pinkpop. The same f*ing day. It also was the concert that James Hetfield of Metallica caught live, after which he fistbumped Floor. Last year that led to Floor opening Solo for Metallica in the Netherlands xD Also...can we briefly talk how absolutely beautiful Floor looks, especially inthose Human:Nature Tour outfits? F*ing incredible.
The generally don't do the track "Pan" from that album live either, but you would definitely enjoy the composition thoroughly. There is a lyric video worth watching.
I will admit that my bias is the one taking here, bt my absolute favorite version of this song is the one they performed when I saw them live, There no good recording to there, but none the lest it was breathtaking. BTW, Mako did record this record with him. but on this song Troys voice in the most prominent of the recording.

The Hellfest live recording of this is my absolute favorite!. Great job with the double reactions on the Human:Nature songs!
Best wishes from Namibia
The video is also amazing at the end. Shoemaker bei ng on the moon and able to witness an earthset.
It's all three harmonizing with Troy on lead in stereo, Marko in our left ear and Floor in our right.
If you want to see and react to Floor in full Opera
Mote look at O Mio Babbino Caro live at (Tiende van Tijl 2013). It is a short song, but you will blown away
Very nice.
You did well with two versions.
\m/
Tuomas wrote the album with the intention of pushing her voice as far as it would go!
Not sure if he really accomplished that task......
Try again...
@@markusjackel2132 Floor" I will have to have a think about this vocal....Thought about it....there ya go...."
This is in the Netherlands , 33 degrees , look at Empuu haha , still the best !🥰
Marco takes the primary vocals on this one, and it is one we will probably never see live with him :(
I always like the live version, Floor`s stage presence is phenomenal, My jaw drops and the tears flow every time i watch her live
“Stellar sea” is the sky 🌟🎆
What a fantastic reaction!!!!!!!
Toronto version is gold ❤
Ok, I'll tell you what I think. I think your eyes are red from smoking. Oh, you meant what I think about the song! My bad, I'm stoned. lol. I think the whole studio album is amazing. You can hear every little detail. All the orchestra and choir parts audible. That being said, Nightwish is very good live. Very on point. As soon as this album came out, I put it on my playlist. So I didn't have a chance to hear it live then. Most of the songs from other albums in my playlist, are from live performances. So which one is better when it comes to Shoemaker? The answer is: Yes!
Thabk you , I love this song .Greetings from nwAse Sweden
I totally agree about Jukka looking like Opie and fun fact the drummer in her previous band Revamp looks like Opie also in their live video of Disdain from 2010
Best live band ever imho
The live performance from Diechbrand festival is much better sound and visually. This is in tribute to Eugene Shoemaker. Marko was on the studio recording, but not the tour.
live 100% better , the experiens is so intense live
They are always best live but im always happy that the studio is reacted to first so you can see the words. Very difficult lyrics to sing to and remember.
I believe it's Marko on the bass on the album version, and he is singing with Floor and Troy on a very quiet line and third harmony in that amazing quiet "bridge", obviously only on the album version. Marko left not long after they finished recording that album, if memory serves correctly. Please anyone correct me if I have something wrong here!
Jukka Koskinen absolutely looks like Opie from SoA! Just a less "stout" Opie lol!
13:46 Indeed!
That is the correct sequence: first the video after doing some reading about this song, then: live!
And about the Siren:
@KenLavigne commenting on Floor singing (TGSOE):
“Is she a sorceress, is she a Siren, is she a warrior princess, is she all three?”
Live is awesome. The Music video is total art!
Excellent reaction and analysis.
I think the live recording of Hellfest 2022 is the best one.
The first is a great introduction to this song plus it is a good lyric video. Once you know the song then the live version becomes amazing.
BTW Troy didn’t replace Marco.
All three sang in the recording
Floor, Troy, and Macro.
Troy on the EBow tearin' it up!
Better? It’s not possible to answer for me… if you are at the concert than it’s better… ‼️🏆👍
Богиня
you're right this audio recording is not the best possible like it always happens at festivals (unless you record your own live dvd) and her voice is immaculate. I watched this song recorded on a simple phone and her voice was incredibly present and strong and perfect.
In the studio version, the harmonies are done by Floor, Marko and Troy.
And, yes to more comparisons
While Nightwish live performances are always spot on/nearly perfect, don't sleep on their music videos. They put a whole lot of talent and creativity into them as well.
I loved Sons of Anarchy, "I got this." You should really check out this song at Hellfest 2022, even better, full on body chills at the end. For me Floor is the GOAT, and the Valkyrie Goddess.
Just why? The version from Hellfest 2022 is significantly better.
It is how you look at it imo. Hellfest and Deichbrand maybe had better sound, but i like this one, because the cameraman took her faceal expressions perfectly
I concur❤
Hellfest version is much better 🤘
Waarom strijden? feit is dat ze altijd goed zijn❤
Disagree
I think you said in an earlier reaction to NW that Floor "is going to kill us ..and we're gonna like it" 😂😂 That is a bit culty I know 😂 but not far from the truth 👍🤘
That day at Pinkpop it was really hot and that's why the guys look a bit more fatigued than they would normally do.
It was soooo hot that day at Pinkpop🥵
One off the best NW song!
But I do love that we see more of Troy here. 😌
@@marita2g Yes, Troy is on great form and you really get to hear both his vocals in the chorus and his excellent wailing guitar work with the EBow.
@@Drinckx2 Yes! His vocals are really highlighted here. And agreed. That wailing ebow is really forward in the mix here. Love that. 🤩
Cheers. 🍺
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done man
Jukka = Opie 😂 great reference. Jukka was not in SoA, however he was in Wintersun😉
Great Reaction !!!!!
It's Nightwish, so studio version of course all nice, clean and polished, but just about 9/10 times live is better!
YEEEEEY FLOOOR
This was the quirkiest moment on the Human:Nature tour when Floor always introduced this as the 'sing along song of the album' 😂😂😂
It's shivers all the way down your spine when that ending hits.
Last year that led to Floor opening Solo for Metallica in the Netherlands xD
Also...can we briefly talk how absolutely beautiful Floor looks, especially inthose Human:Nature Tour outfits? F*ing incredible.
Always do the live version of Nightwish
The Speaking part is Tuomas's wife Johanna
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
The generally don't do the track "Pan" from that album live either, but you would definitely enjoy the composition thoroughly. There is a lyric video worth watching.
I uploaded the live version from the virtual show
NW always best live 🤘
I will admit that my bias is the one taking here, bt my absolute favorite version of this song is the one they performed when I saw them live, There no good recording to there, but none the lest it was breathtaking. BTW, Mako did record this record with him. but on this song Troys voice in the most prominent of the recording.
