People often suck and they're not afraid to show it. It's an inexpensive repair for someone with other priorities. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for watching 😊
I commented on the first video just shortly before I saw this one. I didn't hate the methods used but suggested some alternatives. One of those things you did in this video, but a little differently.
Pick up the paint samples and THEN take the best one back to the store. The sheen is going to be matte if the siding is old and weathered, eggshell or satin or even semi-gloss if it's newer.
Cut the patch only 3/4 of an inch bigger than the hole all the way around and cut the edges in a wavy fashion and round the corners. It's not necessary to tuck the upper edge completely under the above course. If the siding is properly cleaned the patch will stick and stay.
If the hole is large you may consider first filling and flushing it in with a very conservative filling of expanding foam. Just enough to back up the film without bulging out the siding.
Apply the patch in moderate temperatures and not in full sun. Vinyl siding expands and contracts by a significant degree due to temperatures and your patch might do differently.
I apologise for hijacking your video. I've been a residential remodeler for almost 50 years and am a bit of a weirdo stickler for details.
P.S...if nothing else works..plant a bush in front of it!
P.S. #2 Never paint vinyl siding in dark colors!! Guaranteed you'll regret it!
Thank you. Absolutely no apologies needed. All your comments and advice are very well reasoned. Super smart advice 😊 I can see and read and hear all your experience through the sentences. You definitely have a lot of experience. I have a video coming out next week where I use Bondo product and sand it, simulate wood grain and paint. It turned out perfect, but would probably be too intimidating for somebody with literally no experience. Thank you so much for your comments. Have a good evening 👍🏼🛠️😊
@@HomeRapidRepair I have used the Bondo many times. Highly recommend it. I'm looking forward to your video. Thank you for your kind words.
Seen the 1st post 1st. It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to match siding! That little repair kit is great! Just get it as close as possible, tape off after applying & you'll see that it isn't perfect. Take a picture and go get a few more colors that are a closer or PERFECT match & just paint the patch. How ignorant are some people?! 👍
Thanks for watching both videos and all of your well reasoned comments. I agree with you on all points 🏠
Screw the haters. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for the positivity. I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching. 😊
Thanks for the tip. I put it in my Amazon wish list for my next project.
Wonderful! Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you. This is exactly what I need to do and now i how to.
Glad I could help. Good luck 👍🏼🏠
I wont go to Menards for a color match thats for sure.....A car paint & supply store might be better or maybe Sherwin Williams....Good video though...
Thank you for watching 😊🏠🛠️
Looks like the color was too dark, get the paint and some white as well to mix some samples til you get them to match.
Thank so much I was wondering how to fix my siding thank you 1:40
Thank you for watching. Let me know if you have any questions 👍🏼😊🛠️
Save big money when you shop Menards! Good tip about custom color matching
Yes. Thank you
Have you tried blending the color on the patch into the existing siding? If it's brushed on, you can thin the paint gradually until you get a better blend.
I have not tried that. Thank you. 🏠😊
Thank you for the information, I wasn't aware such a product existed. I just figured I'd have to live with the cracks or holes as vinyl siding does get very brittle with age. I do have just one question - why did you use such a large piece vs. using a piece slightly bigger than the hole? Just curious. It may not match perfectly, but you did a great job with having no air bubbles. 👍
Hey, I think you’re right. I had another viewer asked me the same question. I can’t recall why I didn’t trim it down. I’ll be more careful next time. 👍🏼🛠️🏠
Where did you buy the vinyl patch?
Amazon. Here is the exact link.

Wow… why the hate? You’re capable to reside an entire house…I understand that you were posting something that an average person can do simply and quick without tools or knowledge, to fix a potential bigger problem.
Next video suggestion. Remove a piece of siding from an area of the house that is lesser seen, fix that hole with that piece, replace lesser seen area with new piece… but get a new color match done before painting… it wasn’t a good match.
Include tips on keeping nails loose, cutting, and the $5 siding removal tool.
Keep the videos coming.
Thanks for the comments.
This is a good alternative for homeowners not comfortable/confident enough to replace the whole piece of siding. Or people like me who do not have a vehicle that will fit a 12 ft section of siding. Is there a reason you used the whole patch as opposed to a smaller piece? The "sticker" looks a lot better than a caulk/spray foam/putty option.
Thanks for watching & commenting. I have a new video next week about a “Bondo” patch that looks perfect on vinyl siding 👍🏼😊✅🛠️
I’m not sure why I didn’t cut it down more??
Woah...the piece he cut out to match was not cut out towards the end.
Thank you for watching 😊
I was a different hole at the end. He patched two in the other video.
The first video _said_ color matching could be done.
There was nothing in the presentation implying this was the most professional method - just that it was fast and easy, and it WAS.
Trolls will be trolls.
Thank you. People are always looking to complain first and everything else is second 🤷🏻♂️😂
I wonder what they 'key bangers' did the day they commented.
Ha ha. I hear you. Right? 😊
I have to say My Friend You have Zero Calyces on your Hands. Cushy Job hey
