Failure isn't a bad word at all. It's a gateway to accepting challenges and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. And as you stated, it's a way to remind you to put in the work. And even if you did and still failed, it's a great tool for self-reflection and re-dedication. Thanks for the video.
I think sometimes people fail to build a network because often creative types are introverts and have a hard time putting themselves out into the world, promoting themselves and essentially "making friends". A possible solution would be to have someone very outgoing on your team to promote and network.
Having a fashion brand and being a designer are two different things , the former is profit oriented and requires market research and analysis , the latter implies a love of the art , quality and exclusivity , you don't go into fashion with the intention of making money but out of love for it , money is a byproduct of the success you could possibly get from it , imo.
Great video! I can imagine that building a fashion brand is really tough, especially in Japan where there is so much competition. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Fyi Zoe Hong yt channel has invaluable videos on becoming a professional fashion designer. Looking at stuff you find boring, or actually hate, can result in wonderful design if you take on the question "How can I make this interesting/beautiful?" Working with materials and cuts you already love may not expand you as much as working with things you dislike.
Your breakdown on the differentiation of failure & experience will now live in my head rent free 🧠

Failure isn’t a bad word til your parents call you one.

Marketing is hard, building any business is hard. But doable.
You're still one of the realest fashion educators regardless. Thanks for all you do. 🙏🏾
