A most masterful tye, Barry.. I appreciate your videos as you already know.. I hope all is well. seems the years find me telling the clock what the time is. lol.. All the very best!!
Merry Christmas Barry. I have to say my wife made my Christmas very special by giving me "The Feather Bender" this morning. Your book is absolutely beautiful and the links to video are such an amazing gift. Thanks for all your contributions to this great art of fly tying. Wishing you a wonderful New Year.
A very, very nice exercise in style. Thirteen minutes for a fly, tied by a great specialist, I do not dare to imagine the time it would take for a fly tyer, even of a good level. And for a much less result.
Excellent pattern Barry. Found one of those this morning out of the window of my cabin in northern Italy and rush to look in you video library, I was sure I had found a suitable pattern of yours 😅 Happy Easter
Great stonefly pattern. That tapered tool looks much easier than a needle to tie extended bodies on...I will have to pick up a set. Thanks for sharing. I have had tennis elbow and can understand the pain associated with it...hope you heal up soon.
Nice fly. Even when you made the mistake of cutting off the antenna you didn't panic and just replaced it, can't say I would have done the same hahaha! Hope the elbow heals well.
Hope your elbow will get perfectly well. By the way: for 75% all my flies were tied after your videos. I watched all videos and I mainly fish the muddler mayfly, rs2, all purpose emerger, cdc midge, the stonefly with marabou, and the x caddies (and maybe some other I forgot). So thank you very much!
Great to see you back on here! Such an amazing pattern. There’s no end to your creativity and as always, it’s a different level of thinking in the fly. Hope you’re elbow gets better!
Hi Barry......your tying and instruction are second to none!!!! I couldn't find the link to the extended body tool. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best Refards. Joe
@@Thefeatherbender you are definitely a master of fly tying. Now is a good time to read up on the old flys. Wish you good health and speed. 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes Rolla Missouri.
Very realistic stonefly pattern, like to try tying them for are salmonfly hatch here in Montana. Fish on our rivers see the same patterns year after year. Fish might really respond to something like this. Thanks for the video.
Nice!! Reminds me of the giant Hex flies I tie with a extended body. I use a large darning needle for those bodies.....🤔. But am interested in those fixtures.. God's speed in recovery and Best Wishes Barry.....🤠
@@Thefeatherbender Barry are they one of your creations? Simple and not too expensive. I quite like them. I wanted to buy those hair stackers but years back my friend Andy created multiple stackers. 54 Dean Street sells them now, I bought a few from Andy just after he came out with them. I can't have everything I guess. At least that's what my wife says when I grovel during our morning routine. Sorry I have been such a crappy supporter, just starting to get my head on right after a lengthy bout of stuff. I'll make it up to you.
WOW what an awesome tie. what an awesome Fly too. If that doesn't catch fish nothing will.. can you do a damsel fly too?? oh wait wait dont tell me May 2020 you did a damsel fly. can you do one with this tool too?? just striking [no pun intended] Glad your elbow is returning to health in one way or another. i get it. Just keep it up. thanks to your videos i have learned years and years of information and experience in handling materials and techniques. thank you again < J
Barry , the fly looks terrific , but could you not have just used another thin strip of " cheap foam " instead of the more expensive " dear hair " at the start ? Or does the deer hair help make the body more ridged ? Anyways , it turned out nice .
Barry hello my name is Colin from the state of Illinois. I tie hexs and dragonflies and so on. I am interested in that tool for tying daddy longlegs, dragon/ damsel and as well as other bugs if you can message me on any social media outlet. Looks like a nice tool to have
Thank you. I will be doing another film soon I hope on another tool especially for daddy long legs that is very realistic. You can find the link to this stonefly tool in the video text.
I cannot find the tool you used however I used my bobkin needle and the result matched yours .I'm quite happy with it and I will make many more .Thank you Barry 😉😊I use a tan foam on the bottom to match our stones .
The most realistic stonefly I have ever seen. Thank you sir for your time.
You are very welcome Jeff.
Found the CDC link. Thanks again for posting this video. Hope the elbow gets better

Was wondering why you had disappeared, Barry. I certainly know that pain. Just get healed up and there will be plenty of time for videos.
Not disappeared, James just recovering...

That is a cool tool! Of course I immediately need a set! I tie most of my Stoneflies on Draper Hooks, but trying to find them is getting tough!
It works wonderfully!

What vise, the jaws look amazing
Petitjean Swiss Master vice you can find a video about it on my channel.
Hello, searching for dry stonefly patterns I came across this design thank goodness! You use a prepared wing. How is it prepared? Best regards. Robert
Thanks, you can find them here: www.maartenvaneijk.nl/#
Fantastic pattern!! I can’t seem to find the tools for the body on the website.
Here you go Rich, www.traditional-shop.nl/p/mve-extended-body-pins
That was a beautiful job. Your a very talented tyer. I'd like to be as good as you someday? But, at 63? I'm not sure I'll live long enough? 😁
Thank you Randy.
Great tool for tying long bodies. Curious as to where I could buy the CDC you show during the video.
You can find David Jedlicka on FaceBook and order there from him.
Класс! Благодарю за отличный вариант!👍🤝🇰🇿
Thank you.
I've wondered for months now, what bobbin holder do you use?
Hi Simon, its a Petitjean TT Bobbin holder.

Barry what is the product you use on the wing of the stone fly?
Hi Jason, I just coat the CDC wings with a little varnish or head cement.
@@Thefeatherbender thank you
Beautiful 😍
Thank you Mustad! Cheers!
Taken care Barry! And welkome back ;-) When will you have an other tying session at Tom Temmings? Btw aren't it moose main hairs for antenna's?
Hi Ralf, not sure when I will be back at Ton's. No it's moose body hair.
Barry , the fly looks terrific , but could you not have just used another thin strip of " cheap foam " instead of the more expensive " dear hair " at the start ? Or does the deer hair help make the body more ridged ? Anyways , it turned out nice .
I guess you could but 20 deer hairs cost very little, probably cheaper than foam!
If I made one cast and landed it in a tree , I’d cry !
But it may also make the difference between success and failure !
Pięknie!!!! SUPER 💪🙂
Thank you.
May I ask, What vise is that your using?
Yes of course, it's a Marc Petitjean Swiss master vice. you can see the full video here: ua-cam.com/video/x9WskBbooaU/v-deo.html
Thank you
beautiful fly, but as is often the case, beautiful on the vise, but in the water they are ignored by fish that do not have the same opinion as us!
Thank you, but they do work!
Sehr schöne Fliege, aber ziemlich schwierig zu binden, nicht wahr?
Danke, nein, eigentlich ist es ein recht einfaches Muster mit grundlegenden Techniken.
Великолепно 👍 🤝 🙋♂️
