Adults might not like movies made for children, but it’s fine, because it’s made for children, however adults can still rightfully say that a movie made for children is shit without being one themselves because how good or bad the movie is has nothing to do with them being children.
Similarly, it’s fine to say « this movie wasn’t made for 40 yo white dudes, so it’s normal if they don’t like it », because sure, you could make a movie that just doesn’t appeal to particular experiences that 40yo white dudes don’t tend to have or tend not to have, but that’s wholly independent from wether or not a 40yo white dude can pick that movie apart and point out everything that’s wrong with it.

This is so fucking bizarre, especially since the original wrinkle in time is so cleveryly put together. When the magical lady shows up in the book, there are a few subtle hints that shes otherworldly, but she presents herself very reasonably as a neighbor who wants to be friendly and they develop a relationship with her over a long period of time before anything magical starts happening. Here she basically kicks down the door and gives the main character a "your a wizard harry" except here the parents are perfectly reasonable and the children have no reason to wish to be rescued from them.

Brie Larson said this film was not made for you white males. Well this original book by Madeleine L Engle was written for a different era and a different audience. Although considered a classic by many. It has been difficult to adapt to TV or film. Like the previous iteration, the film by Disney was a very expensive flop. This was part of a trend to make young adult fantasy novels into films. There have been some great successes like the Harry Potter series. Most have met with critical and audience disappointment.

This book was one of my favorites growing up. It hurts me how terrible the movie is. It's like they took all the loose pages of the book and threw them up in the air and picked up the first ten pages and put them in that exact order. They cut out so much context to scenes. Like all the kids bouncing the balls, it was the repeating pattern that the black thing used to more or less hypnotize you. And if it was discovered that you weren't in sync with everyone else you would be "re educated". The main characters came across one boy who lost control of the ball and they caught the ball and brought it back to him. But his mom freaked out and claimed they had no idea what they were talking about because her son never bounced the ball out of rhythm (because she was terrified of what could happen to her son). It was super eery and helped set up how powerful and pervasive the evil entity was.

Hey you racetisms, Physics student here. The arrows you mentioned ARE actually things used in equations, they're called spin vectors or spin states if memory serves. They represent some sort of abstract property(spin) that all particles have that I've been told is useful when you're dealing with pairs or groups of particles. I've taken two quantum mechanics classes and can't tell you anything beyond that. Nobody in my class could make heads or tails of it. Also, the triangle whose flat side is on top is called a gradient operator. It's essentially the derivative of a vector(like the x,y, and z directions of velocity or force) rather than a scalar(a single measurement). Also Also, 0! means 0 factorial, which is a number times all the numbers below it to 1. 5!=120, 3!=6. Don't feel stupid, happens to me constantly, and I'm paying money to study this stuff.

0! Is 1 though, so I'm not sure why it would be that. Although they seem to have but a space before the exclamation point in an attempt to make it look as though it isn't a factorial symbol.

Ok dudes, I HATE to be the Devil's advocate of anything related to this movie BUT the equations you commented at 56:10 are equally quite accurate.
    1) Yes, that's a V at Ver.245 (probably short for Version 245)
    2) Those bras and kets ( 《 | and | 》 ) are the standard representation of vectors in the Hilbert Space used to describe wavefunctions in quantum mechanics. The arrows inside them represent different states of a system, probably a quantum property called spin.
    3) That derivative equation with the arrows is a vectorial equation. The first upside down triangle with an arrow above it does represent the gradient of the scalar field next to it, but the triangle with a dot next to it is a Divergent applied to a vector field then multiplied by another vector field. Oh and the cross or crucifix is a T for time. It's a time derivative equation, pretty standard in physics to calculate the temporal progression of a system.
    4) The last equation is related to Einstein's equations of General Relativity. The fact that is less than Zero is indeed a big issue because it represents the distribution of energy and the curvature of space time, which is usually a positive number. Einstein actually got rid of a term, called cosmological constant, that could be negative than later regretted because it can describe the accelerated expansion of the Universe (negative energy equals repulsion ) which was later observed. He considered that the biggest mistake of his life.
So yeah, the science consultant actually did the best job he could. He couldn't rewrite the script but at least he gave the most accurate physics equations I ever saw in a movie. And I did saw a lot of really bad ones in actually good movies, so kudos for him.

Interesting info. It's good to know that one (and only one) person put effort into this movie.
As for the last equation, it looks to me like it's less than "0!" as in "zero factorial", which equals 1. If that's the case, the equation actually may be positive. I've know idea why someone would write 1 in such a disguised way though.

If I can help a bit, the “arrow” stuff Metal points out on the chalkboard at the end is real quantum physics notation, with this version typically pertaining to the entanglement of two particles, especially electrons, and is actually related to what Chris Pine + mom character was talking about early in the film (to some extent), though it doesn’t seem to really be... doing much on this board.
While bits of the rest are comprised of “actual” physics related terms, I am hesitant to fully endorse much else. Let’s just say that they took some liberties with the rules a bit in this movie and leave it at that lol.
