She's sexy and flirtatious enough to still be very desirable, and yet she also has the streak of well-hardened cynicism that comes par for the course with becoming a middle-aged woman with big responsibilities. She expects dates to go wrong, keeps her tone matter-of-fact, and doesn't melt like a teenage girl when that guy kisses her on the cheek; but with House, she goes years younger. You can just feel the tension sizzling between them; when she asks him if he likes her, he's silent. He takes a while to marshal his usual sarcastic, deflective wit. Both of them are denying their attraction to each other like crazy. Seriously, guys, just get together already.

The writing on House was always spit on and the actors all delivered. Timing was crutial for the dialogue to work. Also the generous use of facial expressions and body language just added the spice needed.
