- In this video, I am going to show you an alternative method to using Multicam editing.
I’ve found this method to be helpful for projects where you are dealing with a lot of different audio files and video files and might need to sync them all up more manually than a basic Multicam editing project.
This could also be useful if you are trying to use Premiere Pro’s built-in Multicam sequence but it is giving you an error message for whatever reason. This method will act as a quick turnaround.

Two things
One: This is exactly what I wanted to learn. I don't know why every other video shows only the automated process. It's not foolproof and this allows me to work with the multi-cam feature on my own terms so THANK YOU!

You're a lifesaver I've been trying to use the standard method for multicam sequence that I've seen in other videos and it just wouldn't work. Finally got how to make the multicam sequence on the timeline itself instead of from the source panel.
I don't think I've used the "Standard" method ever since I figured this out, lol
you have just saved me so much time and agony of having to cut the clips separately omg - i synced the audio manually because i'm more comfortable with that (and i didn't know premiere could do that lol) so i only rly needed the last 3 minutes or so but dang those were good 3 minutes thank you so much

I had what seemed to be unfixable multicam problems where my audio would only play from the left channel. All the videos I saw addressing this problem used the traditional method of selecting all the files from the project folder and creating a new multicam sequence, then going into detail about the fix. None of these suggestions worked. The manual method you have here really saved me! Not sure how I would have fixed this otherwise. Thanks for making.

Thanks for this. When I turn the multi camera on, it works, but if I click on a different part of the video, the multi-cam view goes away. It's frustrating especially when editing a video with 11 camera angles...any idea why it keeps going away? I have to re-click the multi-cam view every time. Thanks!
I don’t know what you mean by “different part of the video” but I’ve also never dealt with about 4 cameras so I wonder if having 11 isn’t just psyching Premiere out 😂

When I use 1 2 3 etc keys, the view switches and everything record and works great. But when I click on the multiview previews, clicking does nothing.
Hm.. now that issue I can't say I've run into. I also always use the keys instead of clicking anyway so... I'll see if I can figure something out

I have worked with Multi cam quite a bit and always seemed to run into problems, this way has helped me over come theses problems thank you as I will be using this trick more now

All I needed to know was how to nest the videos and make a multicam from that. All other tutorials relied on audio sync, and that f-ed everything up for me when I already had a sequence synced up.

Been running a radio show for the past year and usually under settings on the playback window, you can click "Edit Cameras", now it's greyed out. Any input?
Can’t say I’m sure. Is everything regarding multicam working properly aside from that?
@@JRPCREATIVE Yes sir, I've been running 6 cameras for a year and I don't necessarily need to edit the cameras order right now, but there are times that I need to because I have each camera number (now) associated with a number which is associated with a host, co host or guest(s). But there's sometimes that I make a Multicam sequence and a camera is in a different position. It's easier to just edit the cameras than delete the sequence and recreate it (in some instances)

Thanks very much for this video. This is exactly what I needed, because sometimes you need to synch manually.
I want to share a problem that I had making a multicam video, and how I solved it, to see if it happened to someone else and how did others solve it:
Before making the multicam project, I applied some effects and color correction to some of the videos. Since there were used different cameras, the color of the different videos didn't match. So far so good. My problem was that, once I had finished all the multicam thing, I realized that I had to make some color corrections to one of the videos, but I was unable to access that specific video. If I double clicked on the nested sequence, it didn't open the separate videos because the multicam was enabled.
The solution that I found was, just after creating the nested sequence (and before enabling multicam), double click on it, so it opens a new tab with the videos contained on the nested sequence, and then I enable multicam and do all the multicam thing. Having the nested sequence tab allowed me to edit the videos separately.
Let me know if it has happened to anyone else and if there are other solutions to the problem.

I've dealt with that same issue a lot and it still bends my brain every time I have to go in and do it. For my workflow I tend to try and have everything color and audio done before I go nesting things just to try and prevent this.
Hey! Great quick and to the point thank you! Yes I ended up on this video having issues creating multicamera sequence, trying to drag it onto the timeline and it being Blue (not green) and then also not letting me toggle on Audio track 1 through 4. Ive tried to click them on, they wont highlight blue. In the end Ive righ click create sequence from clip and that seems to be working. but im not sure what the issue is above?! Any ideas?
This one stumps me but if I had to guess it might be in that dialog box when you “Create Multicam Sequence”
Off the top of my head I know I select “audio”, camera 1 as the audio source, and then “enumerate cameras”

When I click play on the Sequence that has the Multicam clip, it plays but only one camera angle shows up even with Multicam on. If I double click on the Multicam it shows the multiple cameras, but I can not play and switch between them. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Are you opening the multicam viewer using the button sitting right below your playback viewer?

Wow!! This is a wicked effect. So just to make sure I have this correct. You start the video and audio recording at the same time and end at the same time. Once you complete the synchronizing process of the audio with some nesting of audio AND video, you would then enable 'multicam' and click on each video throughout the play process in order to dictate which came shows throughout the process. Is this correct?? Also, if I'm not mistaken, you can only synchronize the video based on Premiere Pro synchronizing the audio. And moving the clips accordingly?? Quite a process if your new to it but the end result is amazing
I think you’ve got it. The most important thing to understand with these softwares is that there’s always a million ways to skin a cat with them.
I have other tutorials up that show a much smoother and simpler way to do multi cam sequences. This is definitely the long way around in this video but can help troubleshoot errors or just give you more control over the process.
My problem is when I have my multi cam open, it wont allow me to "click" back and forth. It just stays on one camera? Any idea how to fix it?
Only solution I’ve really heard for this is simply restarting Premiere.
I’ve always used the number keys across the top of my keyboard. Never been a clicker so I haven’t run into this issue myself.

Im having a problem where I do everything correctly but when I click multi camera it’s only showing one view at a time in multi camera
Can't say I really know why that would be. When you say "click on multi-camera" are you talking about the icon under your video to change to multicamera view?

Clicking on the cam angle does nothing for me. I have to press the number on the top of the keyboard. Gets to be a hassle when you have 8 camera angles.
Think there was another comment saying the same thing pretty recently. I haven't run into this issue myself but from what I've heard restarting the program or you computer could help it

I did the steps on another video, now on this one and what happens is that I don't get the multi-camera video where I can select clips. My "program" box just splits screen showing twice the same video with no way to select one or both. It's just a screen and I don,t see both angles, just the same one twice. I'm new to this.
My best guess at what the problem could be is whichever tool you’re using (from the tools in the program window)
I know there’s a multicam view and also a comparison view. Make sure you’re using the multicam.
If that’s not it the only other thing I can think of is that both (or however many) of your video files aren’t actually nested into the same layer so Premiere is basically thinking you’re doing “multicam” with one angle

Yes I came here because I'm having MultiCam issues! I shot my first little music video and I can get the video and audio to sync up for the multiple performances. I was playing the song IRL when we shot so I'm not sure why the audio won't sync properly 😩
Were you playing the exact same file you’re putting in the video?
So after like 4 hours of banging my head against the wall I think I figured out the problem… a couple of the videos had multiple takes where we stopped and played the song back (so it had the song twice in one take). Once I took those videos out I was able to sync everything with multi cam, then I manually cut and synced up the others.
