Did you press the N key to see the side bar window inside of blender. In that tool bar are the settings I show in the tutorial. As for the models, it comes with a few included with the add-on and I show others that can be purchased.

nice tutorial, already understand in the first 2 mins of the video, the video i watched before this literally took 1-2 minutes just to choose the grass FOR A TUTORIAL
Love the add-on. My first foray into scattering meshes in a scene. Coming from Unreal and its elegant LOD system (or Nanite), it is eye opening in terms of how to achieve same LOD efficiencies in Blender. For example, when I use Gscatter + a custom mesh exported out of Megascans into Blender, that mesh is WAY too heavy, and my Blender crashes. Which is mitigated by using a much smaller plane emitter, and as mentioned: using the higher (less expensive) LOD versions. But still, would be GREAT feature to have access to/control over the options under the Distribution tab BEFORE you add the custom object. Because as it is, when i add, it takes quite a few minutes for the viewport to update, and when it does, its orders of magnitude too crowded, and i need to take the VP density down to .001. Its that initial population lift for the 1.00 density that is taxing my puny system. Having access to that setting (or ability to set default setting) would solve. great add-on. I'm still playing with it. Determined to make it work for me.
This is amazing. Wonderfully crafted. The explanation is priceless and your pace is 🔥. I really enjoyed the tutorial and now I'm strengthened to use the add-on again.
Super lesson in Gscatter, this has really helped me....especially with the slower pace and detailed presentation. I will be watching for you again....😄...and THANKS!!!
The error message should give you an idea if the issue, but I’d look at the add-on version and see if it is compatible with the version of blender you are using. Contact graswald support for others questions.
Is it just me or did Graswald remove certain products from there available models? I don't see this type of grass or many of these types, not even in the available to purchase models on their site. Which i do have a subscription too. TBH it looks like the add-on has downgraded in quality since this video..
I agree. They have changed their model a few times since this posting and I prefer the volume purchase options they had originally. The scatter tool is still a great free option, but the reason to look at other paid options is more apparent now.
Hello, thank you for the tutorial. I was struggling making grass these past few days. Where did you get the dandelion asset? Was it a purchase? I don't seem to have access to it.
Hello, I had purchased the pro version of the add-on which included that asset from Graswald before they changed their pricing model. I believe that asset is still available to purchase using credits.
Hello and thanks for watching! I’d reset the external asset pivot to its base and see what it’s scale is set to. Then you can look at the distribution options for density, distance min, and viewport display % - those options might be limiting how many you see. I hope this helps!
Hey nice video !! I'm trying to do this on blender 3.5 but it tell me that the addon doesn't work on this version , do you know if there is a recent version who work on 3.5 ? Thank you !
Thanks for watching! On the Graswald website, after you login or create a free account, you can download gscatter version 0.10.2 which will work for Blender 3.5. Happy scattering!
If you have models from graswald before they switched to their new pricing model (ex. Volumes) you can email them to add your assets to your account so they are in the add-on again. That’s what worked for me.
wonderful and helpful vid. could you please tell me whats the problem of importing the small house in blender because the materials are missing. i tried importing with OBJ and FBX but no textures at all. Thanks for the response.
It's cool but I can't show what the grass really look like, I have only simple geomtrics forms, I didn't find how I can show what the grass really look like
In the most recent version of the add-on, the proxy toggle is in the system list. It’s a circle icon. If you toggle that off you can see the accurate grass or instance look. Or if you render the image. 🚀
question about the g scatter's distribution layer for 0.9.2, they remove the render density and just made a density option, are they the same? also im using a 1x1x1 scale landscape and change the grass's main scale to a realistic size of 0.5 but after changing the density to over 1k it didnt populate much the rendered image (the area of the camera) like how your viewport look around 1:58, i had to bumb it up to 4k just to get some grass object in the scene, is that normal or is there something i should fix?
how these scattered instances behave upon FBX, DAE, GLTF export, which files do handle mesh instances? Are these instances recognized as individual instances sharing the mesh, or dedicated meshes are created?
Hello! You don't have to turn off proxies and g-scatter will know to render the scattered assets at their full quality when rendering. If you are relying on the viewport rendering instead of the render window (F12) then you would need to disable proxies. To turn off viewport proxies, in the G scatter window, under effect layers for each scatter object, select the geometry tab, and then turn off the 'eye' icon next to the 'viewport proxy' effect layer. Alternatively, you can disable viewport proxies in the emitter system list, by toggling the 'circle' shape next to the 'eye' and 'camera' icons. If the render window isn't displaying your scattered objects, make sure that the 'camera' icon next to the object(s) in the emitter system list is enabled. The other issue could be that the scattered object, in your scene collection panel has the viewport and/or render toggles disabled there.
@@PixelPlanetStudios it’s a new version I’m using 🙄 so it’s in the main window and you just click on the circle icon, to the left of the eye icon, in your scatter system layer. Super annoying when new version update and change like one thing haha - they were off by default and I just couldn’t see that button in the geo tab, because it wasn’t there!
Under the Emitter heading, click on which plant type you are using. there is a *round* sign ( next to the eye and camera icon.) click on it and neutralize it. that's the proxy.
@@PixelPlanetStudios thank you. Yes I tried to see if the shaders were present on the scattered objects, but it seems as if it’s integrated in the plug in… idk. I’ll try again. I got frustrated and just switched back to regular cycles.
Thanks for watching! The geometry and materials could certainly be exported to Unity or Unreal as an FBX but I’m not sure about the animation. That may need to be handled as an .abc file then looped in editor. Hopefully that helps you find the answer 🚀

If you enabled the wind effect and there is no motion in the viewport playback, here are some ideas. 1) check the instanced object anchor point, it should be the base of the object. 2) Play with the wind settings to make the effect more pronounced
