Thanks for the big shout out. Very kind of you. I have some posts and videos coming up in April mentioning your course 😄 I'm planning on watching it myself soon.
I was painfully animating these type of constrains this very morning using the 3d cursor position and some "eyeballing", This addon is exactly what i needed, nice timing. Add to Quick Favorites.
I actually avoid characters interacting with objects many times because the parenting problem sometimes drove me crazy, now I can bravely do them with ease!!!
Dude your english is so so much better now! I remember when I bought one of your courses for zbrush years ago, was a bit hard to understand. Great video!
I have dealt with this issue before. I seem to remember moving the object into position manually and passing off the slight movement s part of the animation
oh man, thank you so much! this parenting problem has been such a pain i ditched many animations that used it. Cant believe this fix was right under our noses XD
This is fantastic! I saw options in Motion Builder to pin controls like this and was curious how the heck to do this in Blender. Problem solved! Thank you, Pierrick!
It's really cool that you mention @SouthernShotty, after all he worked on his film for a long time and I think the film is really good, it took a long time and it's really nice that you mentioned him in this video. 😃👍
And again thank you for indepth on such a details of workflow like switching parents while keeping transforms. Doing whole process of short animation is quite overwhelming for me as for an artist, especially and mostly witth all the technicalities like that stuff. Was contemplating on giving my character a phone as prop for fidgeting part, but now it seems a bit more bearable🙏
OMG you are a life saver!! Thanks so much! :D this is gonna be so incredibly useful ^-^ I only moved over to blender back in October, and already was suffering with the issue to positioning stuff in the exact same place when using an unparented object. Just tried it and man it works great! :D Thx again!
You could put subtitles on the animation course, so people from other countries who don't know English would take the course, like here in Brazil, the animation courses I found only teach the basics, and this is a complete course for a very affordable price So think about the possibility of adding subtitles, please. (PORTUGUESE - BRAZIL) Note... "I used a translator to translate this text"
maaaaaaaan. I needed this like, 2 months ago when I had to bake keys of IK feet that had to be parented to the root, but look like they're not. this really would've saved me a whole evening and a half of baking.
@@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN i am looking for laptop then after that the next move is to buy all your courses ALL OF THEM I love your skill God gave you and thanks for teaching
Hi, I would like to ask in the art of effective rigging2 course will we at the end recreate the teaser animation, or are we even going to do any animations, or we will only rig?
Thanks for the thorough explanation Pierrick! 😻😻 There's one little hidden feature in there, that is useful when you're working with multiple characters. For the bone to mirror to, you can _only_ enter the bone name. It will then try to find that bone in the active Armature. So just type ROOT there, and it will use the ROOT bone of whatever character you're posing at the time. Makes switching between them a little easier.
Thanks for all your works, tutorials and tips! I follow you since few years and i can say i'm litterally amused by your talent! I would to ask a question from an amateur animator to a provessionist like you: i've spent many months on Blender and it's very good for modelling, animations and many other interesting things like rigging and so on. I discovered Unity later on the way and i have to say it has a very good animation system and an easy control of the scene, so i started to create in Blender and animate and export with Unity. The point is: don't you think Blender is more complicated to handle (and more "heavy" on memory) then a different engine like Unity? Have you ever tried to import your creations on a game engine to see how cool they are?? The second one was personal :). Thanks for all and have a good time.
I think it would be nice to have some pinning options for controls in world space. The root bone thing is a particularly annoying case of that I feel like
Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you use a bone proxy if you need an object to stay in a hand? An extra non skeleton bone would be created and used to move with whatever skeleton bone you needed and your object would copy that extra bone. It's how I've been animating 2 characters together and saved time by not having to track movements.
coz you said please. i will watch, leave a like, subscribe and leave a comment. thank you for always making tutorials for us plebs new user of blender 🙏
Great info, thanks! I was wondering, will there be an "Alive 2" like "TAOR 2"? Because I’m currently running TAOR and then I want to learn to animate, but I don’t know whether to take Alive or just wait for an updated version
@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN I have question. Do you know how to used setting for rig layer if work with multiple rig on same time on blender 4.0 Because i usually used 2 rig for animate my character. I try blender 4.0 but the bone layer not change to second rig if i select the second rig not like on blender 3.6 Do you have solution for my problem Thanks
I got (and am following) aoere2 and I am curious... Will there also be an updated version of the Alive! course? It seems like a natural progression for the rigs made.
Salut Pierrick.
It's a different approach as Dynamic parent create constraint on the fly while here you're fixing your pose using your default rig. So, this could be better if your animating for games for example and you store multiple animations in your file.

@@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN very kind of you. Your first rigging class was a good help, excited to dive into the second.
You are a god tbh in blender.
Another solution would be the Dynamic Parent addon. I've been using it for some time and it served me well every time I needed quick parent swaps.

I do not know how I've never seen this addon before, but this is gonna help so much with animation
thank you so much for this tutorial!!

I used to animate constraints instead of parenting "accessories" to my rigs. Maybe this is less cumbersome?
I use constraints too.
In the course you talked about how to create this system of following the bone without the addon?
was it armature contrainted or child constraint to parent the bones togethers? i guess it was Armature constraint?
Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you use a bone proxy if you need an object to stay in a hand? sir do we ned to buy the previous art of rigging program or one can learn everything from this one from scratch?
The previoius course is no longer available. This new course covers everything.
Hello @pierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN i know this is a rigging course but would we learn how you made the intro video?
Why dont just set inverse? Really want to know.
Is "Set Inverse" working only with 1 parent?
Yes, and only with one child of constraint.
So you can’t have it to work with multiple switches.
