    Thanks for all your works, tutorials and tips! I follow you since few years and i can say i'm litterally amused by your talent! I would to ask a question from an amateur animator to a provessionist like you: i've spent many months on Blender and it's very good for modelling, animations and many other interesting things like rigging and so on. I discovered Unity later on the way and i have to say it has a very good animation system and an easy control of the scene, so i started to create in Blender and animate and export with Unity. The point is: don't you think Blender is more complicated to handle (and more "heavy" on memory) then a different engine like Unity? Have you ever tried to import your creations on a game engine to see how cool they are?? The second one was personal :). Thanks for all and have a good time.

    There's one little hidden feature in there, that is useful when you're working with multiple characters. For the bone to mirror to, you can _only_ enter the bone name. It will then try to find that bone in the active Armature. So just type ROOT there, and it will use the ROOT bone of whatever character you're posing at the time. Makes switching between them a little easier.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you use a bone proxy if you need an object to stay in a hand? An extra non skeleton bone would be created and used to move with whatever skeleton bone you needed and your object would copy that extra bone. It's how I've been animating 2 characters together and saved time by not having to track movements.

    Lol, for me Sybren has been pretty useless as head of the python chat. Whenever I have an issue with the python API, his response was always "Why are you doing this?", "I don't know the API that well, ask the python maintainer". It's nice to see him do something useful for a change.

    • @PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN

    • @NikolaNevenov86
      @NikolaNevenov86 Місяць тому

      @@PierrickPicaut_P2DESIGN well...yeah, if you are placed in charge of the python API chat where people come and ask how to do things with the blender python API...I would assume you don't talk down to them and try to help them as much you can.
      So TO ME, a person who is in charge of something but performing poor at it, and talking down at people who are there basically asking for help is what I would call shitty. Just personal experience, that's all.

    •  Місяць тому

      Please realise that in order to help someone, I need to know why they do what they do. Asking "why are you doing this?" is not "talking down", it is asking for the underlying reason. In order to help effectively, I need to know that stuff.

    • @NikolaNevenov86
      @NikolaNevenov86 Місяць тому

      Sybren, if you think my opinion was based on a single "why are you doing this?" line, you are wrong. I not only provided code, but explained what I wanted to do, and not once. To which I got "you can't do this", "that's not a good practice", "you shouldn't be doing this", "you can't do this in blender", "learn more about programming", "that's bad code" etc. etc.
      And these were just one liners...not providing an alternative or explanation why.
      Maybe they were all true, but still if I hadn't had the interaction with Clément Foucault, I would say that your replies were fine. I was spending months on trying to figure out how to do the thing I wanted to do in blender, asking in the chat and getting the above statements over and over. I ended up going to Clément Foucault and PM-ing him explaining what I wanted to do and why. And his words were(almost 1:1) " I don't know python. I don't know blender's python API. But if I was trying to do this in C++ I would do it like this". To which he gave me a quick pseudo code. And that's all a "green","wide eyed","yeah let's make blender great!" noob artist/programmer wants and needs. Fast forward 1-2 weeks and I implemented all the things you said I can't do, I can't do in blender, it's bad code etc. etc..
      And Pierrick can say "oh it's all about you, that's your problem", all he wants but I saw the same happening to almost all people going to the chat for advice on the API or python. To the point that I started seeing blender's python api chat as the most useless place to get advice for Blender Python API(much like the graveyard of great ideas that is right-click-select). And I hope this is not the case any more, but back 3-4 years a go, Sybren, you didn't knew the python API well enough to answer questions about it. And looking back I'll go as far as say that ,I don't think you knew python that well as well.
      So from this point of view I was making the initial comment that apparently I was wrong and you can actually be useful for a change .I know, probably I'm over exaggerating but that's how I see it.

      @@NikolaNevenov86 "you didn't knew the python API well enough to answer questions about it" -- well, there's your attitude problem. No credit for trying, eh? Only allowed to try and help when I know the final answer? Give me a break.
      "I don't think you knew python that well as well" -- I've been using Python for almost 2 decades now, and taught it to both artists and computer science students.
      So I'm sorry that you had this experience, but I think your view on the situation is a bit different than mine.
