As a former physician I can say that your experiences with your first cardiologist are sadly common in this country. Our healthcare system definitely needs a major reboot to eliminate those kinds of experiences. Also, a health problem should not make you destitute. Healthcare bills are the #1 cause of bankruptcy in this country.

I had to chuckle at your anesthesia bit at 11:00. I was in hospital a few years back for some cardiac stuff too (nothing *remotely* as serious as your case, all's good) but they wanted to get me in for an angiogram too. For whatever reason, my BPM just *would. not. go. down.* They pumped me full of some stuff to bring it down. I focused heavy on my breathing, trying to just relax. Nada. They eventually said F it, a bad picture's better than no picture, and put me in anyways.
Glad to hear all's going good guy, fingers crossed they keep that way.

I've followed your channel for years, continuing to watch most uploads weekly despite giving up destiny a few years ago after playing since D1 Beta. I've heard your voice more than some IRL friends over that period, and I want you to know I'm grateful for the consistently uplifting energy you bring to this platform (and my life). I'm a physical therapist who works with a lot of cardiac cases, and my father has CHF. All thats to say, I have a good window into the intensity you've been moving through, and I hope you know how much of a badass you've been through this process. It's a brutal one, and you're still showing up for your community and family. Big respect. You're on the up and up! Keep after it, we're all rooting and praying for your continued recovery. Side note - I think this may be my first ever youtube comment. Well earned.

Hey there CoolGuy, I know I don't know you at all personally, but I can't help but feel so ecstatic that you were able to bounce back. Thank you for giving us this descriptive update and especially thank you for sharing some of the personal stuff in your life. It's pretty hard to open up about this stuff I imagine, especially with all the turmoil you've been put through recently, but seriously man from a random viewer and a longtime fan, I really am grateful for this update and your health.
Really quick and not to make this about me, but just a quick anecdote about why this video really resonates with me. I've had lots of family members die within the last 4 months. I've had four family members already pass away due to health complications and cancer. Sadly not too recently my Uncle was put into ICU because his heart is giving out, even with is pacemaker. All of these events have been really hard for me and my family, but hearing the news about you really put a smile on my face. In short I am thankful for your content and I am hopeful for your health to get better and better because you're a cool guy and I think the world is a lot better with you in it!

I first watched your videos several years ago when I was an avid Destiny player trying to learn more about the intricacies of PvP. For the past couple of years, I haven’t opened the game until about a week ago after graduating college. I’ve always followed you since before but hadn’t watched videos again until now. It’s always a mix of excitement and fear when checking up on an older channel because you never know what has unfolded in their life, and it couldn’t be more true after watching this video. You’ve been through a crazy journey not just in the past year but what seems to have been many, and I’m really happy that you’re feeling good now. I’d had some minor heart problems when I was younger (not nearly as serious) and it was always perceived by others as more grave than it truly was, so I hope the same continues here. You feel good, and God-willing your “new normal” will continue that trend of goodness. I’m rooting for you CoolGuy!😁❤️

I appreciate this kind of candidness from a content creator. So many times (at least it feels like it) people become just a voice on a screen and it's almost like an actor playing a role and that takes away some of the personal connection. I will always pay more attention to a creator that makes it feel like they care about me as much as I care about them. This type of stuff shows it's a two way street and for that, I will pay more attention than ever. You were already basically my favorite content creator (I even have a custom DIM wishlist based on your recommendations) and this just solidifies it. I work in healthcare so I see all kinds of bad things happen to good people and I'm thankful we got a good thing to happen to a good person. Keep upp the great work and hoping for the best for you and your health in the future.

I went through something similar 12 years ago (late diagnosed congenital bicuspid aortic valve with enlarged left ventricle; valve replacement surgery; cardiac arrest after that; implanted defibrillator), so well done on getting through a very intense time. Sounds like you're in good hands now and you're finally receiving proper care. For what its worth after my initial treatment I haven't had any more incidents or scares in the 12 years since, and things went back to normal pretty quickly - hopefully you'll be able to look back in 12 years time and say the same. Wishing you the best!

And then there's me, who was so overweight, my HR never got below 65-70, even asleep. And I've been on this journey to slow my heart down. Now I sleep and it dips into the 40s. I cycle 100+ miles a week. Intense miles too, lots of intervals and zone 2.
But man, it's crazy to be your age and have heart issues. Life is so fickle. Glad to hear you've finally gotten the care you need.

Gonna keep watching, commenting, and liking videos in the hopes that it helps. You're seriously a great teacher. Taught me how to think about guns in Destiny and therefore allowed me to play with intent and have more fun in the process.
If it makes you feel any better, my Dad had something similar, although the scaring in his heart was from rheumatic fever he had as a kid. They got a pacemaker in him, had him take meds, and he lived until the ripe old age of 97. With newer technology and better techniques, I'm sure you've got a long life ahead of you. Keeping you in my prayers.

Been A follower of your content going back to D1 days. I was a Cardiac ICU nurse for 9 years before becoming A transplant coordinator a few years ago. Very familiar with your situation and the all the terminology here. Good for you for educating yourself on your diagnosis and condition. Even better for you for advocating for yourself by getting 2nd opinion. As a provider of health care I am all too familiar with how frustrating the system can be to navigate. I've never come across you before but my husband watched your video out of curiousity, and I completely resonated. I have had a congenital heart condition that was discovered at the age of 3. I've had 5 surgeries to repair my many issues and I have a mechanical valve. Yet after all of that I'm still on a huge cocktail of medications, I still have heart failure with an EF of around 35%, and I am needing an Internal Defibrillator device a bit like yours, however luckily I think I can get the leadless one you mentioned.
Sending you so many well wishes and a speedy recovery for your future.

Greetings from across the pond. Good to hear about the positives. Yes I understand totally about “the new norm”. That is what it is and will be. No one will be able to tell you what that will be like. You will have to find that out for yourself as I did. I did have an event. I was visiting two of the ships I used to look after. I had a myocardial infarction in the middle of Lisbon airport. Two weeks later and two stents later the rest of my life started. I was as weak as a baby, could not walk 50 steps at the beginning. I found physical rehab challenging. However it will come, don’t expect it to be instantaneous.
I was so weak basically the only things I could move were my thumbs and my eyeball. That’s when I got an Xbox360. I’ve followed you in Destiny from the start, I’m still rubbish but I really do have a lot to thank you for. Keep your chin up as we say over here. My best wishes to you.

There was something a little more profound about the "I am coolguy" this time around. You *are* coolguy, you're still here, and that's cool :)

I’m glad you’re doing better and got better care for your heart, coolguy. For as long as I can remember watching YT guides for d2 you’ve always been one of my favorites. Always enjoyed your style and even got the chance to randomly play on your team one day. You’ve been in my thoughts since your last update video. You are in fact, a Legend to all of us.

Great to hear your doing good. My father has had a triple bypass and recently three stents put into his heart. I myself have been having some A-fib that was caught by my doctor during my VA retirement appointments so I fear my family history may be pointing me that way also. I have watched your content quite a few times and I don’t know why I never subscribed. Well I’m on the team now and wish you continued health improvements and hopefully that new normal gives you the ability to spend all the quality time in the world with your family.

My dad had something similar a little over a year ago that came to a head with him passing out after making dinner and he had to get a pacemaker himself. He’s doing a lot better now, and he has really well adjusted to having a pacemaker. Takes time, but I’m sure you’ll feel the same! Best of luck to you!

You just survived the biggest coin flip of your life. I think that says something to the value you bring to this world and those around you. I'm happy that you're on your road to recovery and that you're still here with us. I have some experience with losing people at such young ages in my family. I'm glad you woke up and that you get this chance that you deserve for working so hard to bring us content, while suffering behind the scenes. I've watched you for a long time now, and I always see what you have to say before I make my build or weapon decisions. That precious scars build has been a god send. Anyway, much love to you and your family. I look forward to your phoenix era... born again, stronger than ever.

So happy seeing you back at it, brother. Obviously there will be adjustments and future changes, but we're along for the ride with you. Wishing you and your family nothing but the best, and excited to see you alongside us in The Final Shape.
Side note - I work in healthcare and see this type of issue across the industry far too often. I'm beyond fortunate to be at the premier hospital in my area, but it always saddens me to see the challenges of the system affecting good people.
