YGO back then: I normal summon a monster in attack mode and end my turn.
YGO now: So anyway, I started special summoning.
It hurts so badly because it's so accurate

You can literally summon every monster you need in 1 turn nowadays the game is so damn fast
Yugioh back then: with no monsters left on the field, I summon dark magician and attack directly
Yugioh now: oh no your handtrap turned my 4 negated board into a 2 negate board with buster lock
Oppenent at Locals: I ACTIVATE ONE FOR ONE TO SUMMON A MONSTER FROM DECK

Until they just banish it from the grave to get a summon off of it anyways, lol.

I can relate to this post so much only I stopped at zexal but even now after trying for two months there’s times where I still have no idea what the hell I’m doing with some of the newer cards. Why can’t we go back to the times where judgement dragon saw play and every time it’s brought out you can see the anguish on some rando’s face at your locals.

@@OtakuJuanma2 there is no rule that prevents you from chaining a card about to be destroyed. So why not use the MST that is about to be destroyed by your opponent's MST anyway to destroy his MST and make a nice MSTception?

Coming back after the Dec. 2020 banlist. We got our firewall errata.
Opponent: I activate Dark Hole
Me: I chain MST.

Me: Yes, I activate MST and target my set Return of the Dragon Lords. Now chain resolves backward, my set Return of the Dragon Lords is now destroyed, Dark Hole resolves, but because I have my Return of the Dragon Lords in my Graveyard, I can banish it and my Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon is not destroyed.

I just sit there with Horus LV 6 and watch as they use 3 Raigeki, 3 Dark Hole, 3 Fissure, 3 Smashing Ground, and 3 Hammer Shot.

There was a kid (14-15-ish) at locals playing like it was the anime (before that locals officially started)...so *EVERYONE* at locals that day decided to play our casual decks like the anime and it was seriously the most fun tournament I've ever been in! We had Harpies, Toons, Red-Eyes...I wound up willing with Melodious =D

I had a few monsters on the field and they decided to lightning vortex my field, which is when I flipped up my two copies of backfire. The look on their face was priceless uwu

Around 15 years ago I had a friend who wanted me to come with him to a card shop to play some yugioh. I borrowed one of his decks as I never actually got into the game. I don't even remember how well I played; just that there was a grown man there who made all his own sound effects. Not just yelling out his spells and flourishing his draws, in what I assume was an imitation of the anime... but also making explosion sounds and death screams for his monsters. It was morbid... fascinating... unsettling. I had a hard time focusing on my own games, and to this day am not sure how I felt about the whole thing. I mean, it was... memorable?
(For clarity on why I never got into YuGiOh, I've been playing MTG for over 20 years before the YuGiOh game even existed, and prefer the game's resource management. Other than my above friend, I never really felt the urge to pick up a different card game. On the other hand, I actually remember reading the OG manga for YuGiOh before encountering the game; thanks to a Japanese friend who provided JUMP. So YuGiOh had a different identity to me than most other kids. For most kids, YuGiOh was a card game anime franchise... for me it was some dude referring to his alter ego as the darkness,(Yami), and killing or scarring each chapter's antagonist in a variety of imagined games. Quite the contrast.)

No, dragoon is not fine, thar thing has to much that is not even funny
I agree. The only reason Dragoon seems not fine is because Verte allows you to build a board and then summon that thing at the end of all that craziness. With having to hard draw the fusion if Verte were to get banned, that would not only make bringing out Dragoon a little less consistent, but the controller also wouldn't be able to summon into other boss monsters that turn at all.
