Song: LAKEY INSPIRED - Chill Day (Vlog No Copyright Music)
Music provided by Vlog No Copyright Music.

"Im an expert, I just haven't actually competed yet because nobody can handle my fish deck"
I use mind control on both of them
Yeah, nobody can handle watching their opponent get hit with one handtrap and then start to cry
Hey hey hey....
....respect the fish
7 colored fish too strong
@@freakyfishguy1692 It feels the Lorax of the fish has just reprimanded me 😂🤙
I remember in my first match this year at locals, I kinda saw the kid I vs'd was a new player, and I was playing a deck that would've ended him straight away, but I ended up stalling a bit to see if he could get combos off and you know, have a bit of fun, I ended up winning in the end quite easily, but I spent the next 30 mins after the match teaching him how to combo with his deck and even gave him a few cards of my own to help with the deck and said to him that I'll be waiting for him in the next locals tournament for a more competitive match. The smile he gave that day, that's the reason why I love yu-gi-oh and the community.
this was an amazing deed of yours! I think this is something that I realy appreaciate in the community... sadly my 1st time ygo local experience sucked like hell, watching all those yugitubers made it seem like locals can be a chill and not only running into tier 1-2 Deck but the people I played with last year all of them played full power salamngreat. I guess I had the wrong expectations when going into my locals rip.
This was different for my 1st MTG local where my opponent set down with me in between matches and helped me bettering my deck. I went 2-2 and I'm extremly happy with this one X'D
I haven't played YGO since 2010, up until June 2020. I wanted to get back into it and rebuild my Solar Flare Dragon stall deck I had in high school. I went to my LGS and kept asking around for the cards I remember in the list. I got to be known as "The retro player stuck in the past". I got 60% of the deck, just missing the generic counter plays and a couple UFO Turtles, and used it in the tournament they were holding. Went 0-5, penalized for slow play because I was constantly asking what cards do (judge was never called, judge saw in his walk-through) and overall had alot of fun. Got to learn what link summoning, pendulum (I can't spell!) and XYZ are and how busted they can be
thats freaking awesome!!!!!!!
That's so wholesome. Haha. Hope he had fun.
@@anblueboot5364 thanks man, I try to help out whenever I can, I'm definitely not the best player. I just duel for the enjoyment. Duel Links, I'm more competitive 😂 but tcg, I just have fun and try to help others whenever I can.

Pokemon TCG: That's cute

but to be fair nearly every yu-gi-oh Monster effect card is a Tutor from MTG. Imagine telling a MTG player that every card that you play is ALSO a grim Tutor which doesn't only allow you to add a card from your deck but also playing it directly! They would go nuts on how this is even balanced, fuck drawing more than 2 cards when every creature spell summons another creature spell from the deck to the battlefield.

That’s pretty much locals though. Even though it’s the least competitive tier of yugioh events, you’ll most commonly just see meta and competitive decks for those who are working on prepping for the YCS and other high tier events.
And I’m that one duelist who’s gonna play digital bugs in the corner
My locals is a mixed bag, you have the giga competitive decks, you then have the meta decks but without the gigaexpensive cards like TTT or droplet, then you have the fundecks but they play all those expensive cards and last but not least the funnish decks

You can't blame Konami for introducing "Rush Duel" when regular YuGiOh is very difficult to learn.
We have speed duels we don't need those stupid rush duels.
Speed duel ain't as cool as having 5 cards in hand every turn.
But i can blame Konami for make Yugioh so complicated. I play for 11 years and I'm repeating for 6 years to everyone to not start playing.

How to avoid getting cards banned in your favorite Deck: Play a deck so weird and niche that it will never be good enough to be banned nor bad enough to warrant you to stop using it. Case in point: My deck "Purple Eyes Grey Dragon" made of a mixture between red eyes cards and blue eyes cards (obviously) which works surprisingly decently but still gets curb-stomped by anyone hard focusing the meta.
How does it work?
@@the24thcolossusjustchillin39 so a ton of red eyes and blue eyes cards use the graveyard, basically you end up using normal red eyes as fodder for getting out tons of big hitters at a time, and using claw of hermos/sword of red eyes which gives a monster on your side of the field 1000 to both atk and Def, plus 500 for every dragon in your graveyard, and it stacks on itself, using dragon shrine to kill of White Stone of legend and white stone of ancients gets a blue eyes on the field at the end of the turn or in your hand for alt blue eyes. Black stone of legends allows you to get any of the red eyes monster with some utility out, and recycle on itself because you’ll always have a red eyes in the gy from how many you kill off. Your goal is to swarm before anyone has a chance to stop you.

missing timing is one of the two things that made me quit ygo. missing timing should not be a thing. the other thing that made me quit was the fact the game has increased in speed so much that a turn 2 or 3 is the standard.
is it that bad tho? You play 2-3 turns, but most of the time you do what you wanted to. Before it was 20 turns but 15 of those where just "pass" or "set" a card that wouldnt be activated for 3-4 turns because your opp would pass and pass.
@@lluism200 synchro xyz had the best game speed in my oppion
I quit because too many cards just flat out said, "your opponent cannot play the game". Basically, every game is over in 1 or 2 turns because you can easily create a field that is immune to everything and negates everything, there is no counter play besides making it so your opponent can't play the game yourself.
@@lluism200 that's the fun in card games for some people. Most casual players want a game where they can feel a rush in a back and forth duel. it may just be me but what i mainly love about card games is the anime like back and forth of it and having to think of a way to get out of situations.

In my blue-eyes deck.
My brother and I had a extensive rant on how pendulums were a missed chance. What we ended up deciding on was:
Scale position should matter. 8-1 means you can't really do anything, or you could summon face up xyz pendulums
The cards should've probably still gone to grave, or have a limit on how many you can summon back.
There was more, I think, but that's off the top of my head
Me: playing yugioh casually with my friends, not worying about anything. Me returning to yugioh: WTF is a ban list and how it works

But they still helped me improve and learn they are tru chads
You also need to teach little kids that their monster's don't have extra-ordinary abilities. No, Blue-Eyes CANNOT jump over a Dark Hole!
Also for long chains, there were a couple of times where I wait until latter in the hopes of jamming something up (tends to fail though!)
0:54 Missing the timing is really not that complicated. "When" means the same thing in real life as it does in yugioh. The problem however is when they are on cards like yang zings.
So When > If?
@@Ramsey276one "If" never miss timing. "When" need to be the last thing in the chain to resolve, if not they miss timing because it's no longer "When" something happened
@@Ramsey276one "When" is the timeline of events. "If" is simply whether or not someone happened or not. In yugioh's terms "when" effects have to directly chain to or "follow a timeline of events" while "if" effects just look at whether to not an effect has been used.
@@Ramsey276one If I activate an effect of "when this card is sent to the GY, do x" and either player immediately activates another effect, then it missed the timing, because the last effect always happens first, the first effect always happens last. Let's look at imo the 3 most common ways to miss timing as examples:
Example 1: So I sent it to the GY, then my opponent activates something that draws a card in response, but because da rules him drawing happens first, and by the time my effect would've activated, my card was already sent to the GY - so it's no longer "when" the card was sent there.
Example 2: Another similar situation is if you activate 2 or more "when" effects at the same time. They can't both happen at the same time, so you have to choose which to activate - the other misses the timing (since it's no long "when").
Example 3: And finally, let's say a card's effect reads: "Target 1 card on the field. Discard 1 card, then destroy it" and you discarded a monster whose effect is "When this card is discarded, you can special summon it in faceup attack position." your "when" effect would miss timing. However, if the first effect read: "Target 1 card on the field. Destroy it, then discard 1 card." then the "when" effect would be able to be activated.
The reason for this is because in the last example, the first version of the effect has you discarding the card AND THEN doing something, thus you destroy the targeted card at the same time you would've been able to activate the discarded monster's effects. But in the 2nd version, the destruction happens first, then the discard - with nothing else happening that would otherwise block or take priority over your monster's discard effect.
As something asd said, "if" just means "if x happened, then you can activate y effect", "If" takes strict timing out of the equation entirely whereas "When" requires it. IMO: Yugioh should have never phased out "When" effects - they barely exist in most modern cards. "If" effects are less confusing, sure, but they're also stronger and harder to outplay, whereas the whole missing timing thing is a fairly unique yugioh mechanic that used to balance very powerful effects out.
@@Pyrrha_Nikos thanks for the explanation!

Me: fighting halqifibrax and still not seeing what’s so bad about the card
@Pharaoh hhhhh
I think it just gives you a free Tuner Synchro monster once per turn
Fighting the card isn't an issue, the issue is when your opponent knows how to use effects and combos off with it.
Also I'd rather have all the tuners in the game they've banned so far than the Noodleyboi
1:40 that's how my neighbor and I were when we first found out about locals back in summer 2003 and attended it. Granted, we weren't playing DK rules or decks that weren't..er, the worst, but we got demolished. He never went back but for me, it was the event that started me taking it more serious with deck building, understanding the ins and outs of what was "meta" then, and eventually, won the locals at that card shop, and I still did it with the deck that I started with but tweeked (it was Dark Necrofear/Dark Ruler Ha Des).
Sometimes, crushing those little kids is what sets them to become someone who reaches the top.
0:34 only bad players make the game complicated. It's easy to just otk your opponent and move on to the next game
I think in terms of convoluted rules the worst one is the distinction between sending a card to the graveyard and destroying them because on a surface level they seem like identifical concepts
It's kinda weird to think of how he makes them behind the scenes. Does he just make a list and record himself fake laughing at each one like he hasn't seen it before?
Your PFP looks familiar...Megaman?
@@ZMan-sr4tl yeah, mega man battle network
oh the game really changed after link monsters were added I can remember back when I actually went to tournaments weekly one of the decks that I made just because I thought it would be funny if could make a deck with a single level and then soon after I showed it off it became meta and that's Level 4 Spam by the way which easily became my top deck at the time once I figured out how to use Norden in it ;D yeah those were the days where if you still had monsters in your hand using Flame Tiger instead of drawing was a viable strategy XD
Watch yugioh arcv and yugioh vrains done you learn everything that what I did to learn
It's a warm fuzzy feeling seeing the meme I made being featured. Keep up the good work.
Im very young and I know all the rules of this game. It took me so much time and effort to learn it. I also taught my friend who is the same age as me he learnt as well. He worked so hard and with his commitment he learnt every rule in the book. We both are now yugioh experts
4:14 Flower Cardian players: hold my beer.
A classmate of mine, it was in like 2010, tried to 'duel' me in You GI Oh. The cards had just started getting popular in my town and the ratio of kids that knew how to play and those that got the cards because of the fashion was like 2/20. I was one of the 'poor' kids aka one that couldn't give this much money for a card, so I didn't have a deck. He let me borrow one of his, he had a ton of cards and I think he was trying to flex back then. He starts after explaining me the 'rules' and guess what. He plays just like the anime! I then smirked and was internally like "Joke's on you. I AM into it!". (It was quite the misconception that girls back then watched only Barbie/My little pony.) I had watched EVERY episode released up until them, some even twice. He played by the anime, so I anime-ed him 3 times harder. I had no Idea what I was doing and just imitated random stuff I saw in the anime with as much gutso as the characters. He looked so confused and gobsmacked! I think he almost filled his pants. In the end he left the school yard and forgot to take the deck he borrowed me. I gave it back the next day. I never got into the game but will remember this forever.
Yeah i had that issue learning cyber dragons didnt really know how they worked. I learned it and i love them and i also learn nordic decks with links
Things like missing the timing and other odd rulings are really dumb. I used to play the game a lot with friends, but eventually the game turned into us finding what rulings our opponents didn't know about to destroy the game. Turns out, all of my opponents good cards don't work the way it says in the card
Yeahhh that whole missed timing thing . . . That might get someone shot honestly lol.
"Hey now hey now that's not fair there's a 5th kind the kind that doesn't shower!" 🤣
7:10 I think you've got it in reverse there, buddy
1:19 SYCK!! I'm playing subterror control
Orcust player: Now that I have my graveyard set up I'm free to combo
Me with Necrovally on my hand: Ok get past that.
Orcust player: My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Me: with a full board.
Opponent: plays Nibiru.
Me: "how strong is the token?"
Opponent: "Why?"
Me: Plays Creature swap.
Honestly $20 *single* pieces of cardboard being relevant for years are the biggest barriers to entry for most people, even with buying singles
>Hears the word Pendulum
>Trif: *PENDULUM!!!! BEST DECK*
4:04 as a hero player, I understand your pain
King of the skull servants is the ultimate 'your negates don't do shit' because it's just a very very big beatstick that never dies
"The cards don't necessarily do what they say they do."
... Yeah, that sums up me staring at magic jammer.
8:10 I used to be a Heroic Challenger/champion player, I mainly played just the pure archetype and I was super excited when they got a "number" xyz monster (for the record it's number 86: Heroic Champion Rhongomyniad, and I liked mainly just for the novelty of it) and then it got banned ;(
4:26 - HOLY SHIT, I love those poses. I also love that you saw the similarity with the Ginyu Force LOL.
3:58 How to Play Yu-Gi-Oh! in 2020.
Me: Throw $500 into a fire.
The miss lethal happened to me yesterday and I never hated myself more 😅
My opponent : I position a car and end my turm
Me with aroma-deck : I attack you directly with my ancient sacred wyvern with 15000 attack point
5D's/Synchro was the last beatdown meta, and was honestly good because you didn't *need* to play Meta or rely on using anything beyond the visible light spectrum to win. Now you need to pick a specific colour of the rainbow and hope it works perfectly so nobody else gets yours.
The shattering kids dreams is hella relatable. I was playing a for fun cyber infinitrack deck in mr4 against hero monster mash, he spent his first turn playing something that let us both draw and ended on like 2 main deck heros. I proceed to setup the rank 9 infinitrack, cyber infinity, and megaclops to steal both of his cards. Probably one of the only times i did anything with that garbage deck
