It's absolutely no surprise that someone as musically practiced and rhetorically sound as Larnell has the ability to do just that. Larnell's reactions here are priceless. Not just a musician, but an educator. And the fact that no matter how dope he is or how famous he gets, he still just sits and enjoys videos as a FAN, because that's what we all were before we played. A lot of the Snarky guys are like this, and will sit and talk about music and gear with you like any other person at a show. When I saw them, I simply asked for a pic with Mike League, but then proceeded to ask me if I'm a musician and we spent a good 20 minutes talking about our favorite amps. Idk I know I'm kinda rambling but it just warms my heart greatly.
Damn, when you thought Larnell peaked awesomeness, he goes and surprises us yet again! You're the bomb man, keep spreading your love for drumming and music in general, much appreciated. E: Elnoe is absolutely insane, what the hell! So good yet so young.
Part of me thought that it was just cuz it was a really off beat fill that’s easy to get lost in. But I’m not like a drum pro so I can’t exactly tell when something is off or just eeeextra stank.
All of them where not tight at some part. But playing this turns your brain around and i cannot play this myself either :D The most obvious was the guy with the fancy camera movement at the part with the bass line. I have the exact same problem with my right hand and and my right foot. The foot doesn't listen and is slightly behind when playing the exact same pattern. The thing about rhythm and separating the good from the not so good is feel. You feel and know without thinking about it, if something is off. I have very good feel about music and rhythm and I believe it's like a gift. If you don't have it you gonna have a bad time. For sure it is learnable to some point but if you don't feel it and you wanna be a drummer... Hard times. I play in a little trio with piano and voice. The singer attended a very professional and expensive singing school even to that point that she could give lessons herself if she would pay 50k for the license. My point is she knows how to sing and knows what to do with her voice. What she didn't learn is knowing when to start singing by just listing to the song. She has to learn it for every song. I'd know instantly when to start singing just by listening and this makes improvising hard because she is not confident. That's why I'm thinking it's either you have it or not and it's what separating the good from the best.
@@lerx1980 I agree. I have a friend who cannot even clap along to a simple 4/4 beat pop song. He can’t do it on the 1’s and 3’s and he absolutely can’t do it on the 2’s and 4’s lol. I’ve tried to teach him multiple times over the years. He just doesn’t get it and he never will and I have no idea why because it’s like the easiest thing. Even birds can bob their head to a beat. Yet some people just don’t seem to be able to grasp rhythm.
Larnell is just absolutely one of the coolest drummers out there. Seeing him genuinely enjoy others' interpretations of the songs is really cool to see, and the fact that he doesn't get a big head and offers actual constructive criticism instead of just saying "you should have done this instead" is very refreshing to see
Hell no, Elnoe, how can this be? Your ebb and flow are old soul, no doubt. There's a joy percolating just underneath that entire performance. Thanks for all this sharing and caring, Larnell.
I love watching Larnell cheer on the artist as they hit the next switch. Zero ego even though he is one of the best drummers breathing our air today. Nothing but love for these kids doing covers.
Larnell is a really inspiring dude. So cool to see this side of him! a lot of those covers were super interesting. It's amazing how much rhythm can bring people from all over the world together like this.
Larnell you are simply a great person. LOVED your encouragement to these drummers who are kids, kids trying to play very hard pieces. I noticed that the younger players got very good critiques with almost no feedback. Their YOUNG. When they can already play as good as they are you simply give them loving and encouraging feedback. For the 2 older teens (I assume) THEN there was a little more corrective feedback but still in a very positive way. And still the encouraging feedback. AWESOME. Great teaching skill right there.
It's like anything you spend thousands of hours on: you stop seeing individual units and start seeing patterns, chunks, categories. :) Which isn't to say Larnell isn't light-years ahead of me or you or most of us mortals, but I find that sometimes people tend to mystify musical ability as if it's something absorbed from the ether, when really it's just hours, weeks, years of dedicated practice. Anyone can do what Larnell does-provided they're prepared to spend the next decade or two spending 6-10 hours _daily_ on making and studying music. :) Obviously natural ability/talent factors in, but the time you invest has a way bigger impact long term. So again, not trying to act like Larnell isn't one of the heaviest cats around, but he is still "just" a human... who spent way more time learning music than 99.9% of other humans. That is the primary, maybe the only, reason he can do things they can't. :)
I thought Larnell's drumming would be nearly impossible to 'cover'. Seeing 'little' Elnoe doing it this perfectly, makes me feel totally dumbstruck. Wow.

What a genuine, humble, respectful human being.......bless you Mr Lewis ..........and Elnoe, that level and understanding at such a young age ......just outstanding
Such a positive vibe from Larnell. Love how he's diggin' all the videos, dropping a few knowledge bombs throughout, never derogatory. I didn't intend to watch 34 minutes of it, but never the less, I watched the whole thing.
I swear Larnell is such a beautiful human being on top of being a great drummer. Amazing musician ! Thank you Larnell. And those drummers were amazing too.
It is bittersweet seeing Larnell, who inspires me to play better on the same screen with people 30 years younger than me, who inspire me to give up LOL.
HAHAHAHAHA SO ACCURATE 🤣
I have accepted I can be taught. Their age doesn't matter.

I've been thinking about getting back into music. You just nailed why it may never happen. LOL
@@markkempton4579 i dunno, I'm 37 and listening to lingus and seeing everyone gawk over it while to me it just sounded good made me buy a guitar and start learning about music. Every little new thing i learn makes me hella proud. It's not a contest, it's about growth.
I'd like to take this time to announce the big drum sale I'll be having at my house this weekend.
_"Everything needs to go!_
_No seriously. Take it all."_
Noo, hang in there 😀
😂😂😂😂 me too!!!
I know exactly how you feel. Alas….
Larnell is beyond an amazing human and incredible drummer. Such a gift to this world. Thank you Larnell and Drumeo for this AMAZING video.
Larnel: good man, you found your way back!
Me... wai-- he got lost?
Wow I was reading the comment and he just said it while I'm reading hahaha
Part of me thought that it was just cuz it was a really off beat fill that’s easy to get lost in. But I’m not like a drum pro so I can’t exactly tell when something is off or just eeeextra stank.
yeah, 2 of them got off-beat for a split second and got back in no time, true talent !
All of them where not tight at some part. But playing this turns your brain around and i cannot play this myself either :D
The most obvious was the guy with the fancy camera movement at the part with the bass line.
This guy is so talented, humble and cool that just by saying "Ok!" he makes it sound like the bigest compliment
I'm not a drummer and don't know the first thing about drumming, but this guy is so positive and constructive it's inspiring.
Was just talking to my music teacher earlier today about how incredible this dude is... astounding
I don't normally cry like an emotional baby at the end of drum videos, but when I do, I'm listening to Larnell Lewis.
Same here
Larnell is just absolutely one of the coolest drummers out there. Seeing him genuinely enjoy others' interpretations of the songs is really cool to see, and the fact that he doesn't get a big head and offers actual constructive criticism instead of just saying "you should have done this instead" is very refreshing to see
I was wondering why he was apologizing so much... then I find out he's Canadian... makes sense now
a guy of Larnell's calibre being so stoked about those covers is just too great, what an amazing dude
Hell no, Elnoe, how can this be? Your ebb and flow are old soul, no doubt. There's a joy percolating just underneath that entire performance. Thanks for all this sharing and caring, Larnell.
I love you Larnell. So humble. And you’re an incredible drummer.
We definitely need a line of shirts with Larnell’s likeness on them saying “yeah, uh huh!”
I love watching Larnell cheer on the artist as they hit the next switch. Zero ego even though he is one of the best drummers breathing our air today. Nothing but love for these kids doing covers.
10:23 Elnoe ripping with a smile, obviously having a blast. So good.
All so good, but I love Elnoe's snare. That hard wood rim, and you can see the grey coming through the head. He's played it alot!
Larnell is a really inspiring dude. So cool to see this side of him! a lot of those covers were super interesting. It's amazing how much rhythm can bring people from all over the world together like this.
What a sweetheart of a man, Larnell you are a sincerely amazing person, I would nominate you as the best drummer of my generation.
Rebecca is great. I also love her Golden Teeth2 cover. Rebecca, we'd love to hear more of you!
I know nothing about drumming and drum notations,
But I can tell this man SEES through the music.
Wow.
Do you mean... "drumstruck"?
@@joseperez6613 Nice one!
His parents don't let him leave the drum cave
@@jonriordan649 Would you?
@@ryleighs9575 I just hope that kids like this aren't being forced into it by abusive parents. I've hosted a few drum-offs where kid performers were clearly terrified of their family, ala Joe Jackson
The Second kid is absolutely living in the pocket from start to finish, not a single miss hit
Larnell, you are one of my favorite drummers as a musician. You are one of my favorite people for encouraging and cheering on these young musicians with your praise and constructive criticism. The world needs more people like you.
It's really impressive that Larnell can recall the specific parts he plays when the pieces are so dense and full of little nuances.
I already knew he was an absolute master of the drums, but now I also know that he is an incredibly likeable guy and a great teacher.
i didn't know Snark Puppy or Larnell before. cool guy and superb drumming by everybody involved.
Nice to see someone being so respectful to others. Thats new.. and pleasant!
guy is so cool and humble that makes you give him a hug. people like him are getting rare these days.
In Larnell's case, I believe; his humility/kindness as a human, propels his play. And the second young cat; I'm inspired! 😊🥁✌🏾
