My favourite Pipe band. They move along like they were floating! I love to watch them. Peter Grant is such a handsome Scottish soldier…as are the others I’m sure.. but he is my favourite. He played brilliantly at Prince Philips’ funeral.
Cabar Feidh (the antlers of the stag). It’s one of those rare tunes that can be played as a march, strathspey, reel and hornpipe, and probably as a jig too.

Hello from Idaho USA! Thanks so much for posting your wonderful videos. I've stumbled upon your channel by accident and subscribed right away! As I am planning my 5th trip to Scotland next summer, I was wondering if there was any way to know in advance where these young men might be playing? They are the sharpest I've ever seen and their drum major looks like he could walk on hot coals! So precise! (It would be interesting to know what he thinks as he leads everyone down the Royal Mile with such huge crowds on both sides!) Thanks for any suggestions and keep up the great videos! Ann
I never tire of watching the marching and listening to the pipes and drums. Wonderful.
Jim Ramsay: to me, this is probably *the BEST* video you've taken of the Highlanders. They represent the quintessential P & D band!
Hi Paisley Gal. I agree - only met them that day and at the British Pipe Band Championships in Paisley. Hopefully they will be back in Edinburgh soon.
MAJESTIC & STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS MARCHING JEWELS OF SCOTLAND!!!!!!!!!
HEART COMFORTING, PROUD OF YOU. WOULD LOVE TO LIVE THERE! RESPECT
Brilliant...absolutely brilliant!!! Nothing like it to get your foot tapping and the blood flowing 💙🏴💙🏴
Thanks Leigh!
Jim Ramsay do the pipe bands play frequently at the Castle? When I get home I don’t want to miss this!
@@leighrn3072 They don't sadly - but you will always get them on Remembrance Sunday!
And you will get some good Military stuff on "Armed Forces Day" which is end of June. Usually Edinburgh and Stirling.
@@JimRamsayJWR : I'm binge-watching your videos because I so enjoy the P&D, and I can't get to Scotland. Thanks ever so much for posting these! Brill!

@Joe Townsend - Seeing as your struggling I'll take pity on you - it's SCOTS WHA HAE ( Scots Who Have ) & as a bonus here are the words :)
Original lyrics by Robert Burns
Scots, wha hae wi Wallace bled,
Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,
Welcome tae yer gory bed,
Or tae victorie.
Now's the day, and now's the hour:
See the front of battle lower (threaten),
See approach proud Edward's power -
Chains and slavery.
Wha will be a traitor knave?
Wha will fill a coward's grave?
Wha sae base as be a slave?
Let him turn an flee.
Wha, for Scotland's king and law,
Freedom's sword will strongly draw,
Freeman stand, or Freeman fa,
Let him on wi me.
By Oppression's woes and pains,
By your sons in servile chains!
We will drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be free.
Lay the proud usurpers low,
Tyrants fall in every foe,
Liberty's in every blow! -
Let us do or dee.
There's pure magic in the air and lots of dignity whenever Bagpipes are present.

End of June you will get Armed Forces Day in Edinburgh and Stirling. Beginning of July the Queen is in Edinburgh so usually get a parade then.
