Great video as always! Always great to see the Scottish Regiments on parade! Great parade! And the many beautiful, presumably historic buildings with the pretty shops along the way. Also the buildings around them (church, for example) Oh, I'm getting homesick. Best wishes from Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany
Ahh .. you got caught on the wrong side of the road! The area there is "sterile" i.e. fenced off. This happened to me in 2016 at my first "opening" of the Scottish Parliament! That's why I cross the road at The World's End pub!
An amazing sight Our monthlong visit to Scotland was the best experience ever The stay in The Library at The Witchery and dinner of my first Haggis beyond superb ❤
*Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. We're very proud of our Guard label. Got to say - I am biased - but the regiment looked rigid! Great turn out for the men and women on parade! So proud of them!
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. Often referred to as, "The Greys", from times past when they rode grey horses. Nowadays, of course, they ride various kinds of armoured fighting vehicles according to the task at hand.
Cannot fault the pipes and drums, but, all this for a man who is not the King of Scotland, neither is he King of the Scots. He did not take the Scottish Oath !!!
So in front of the car you have the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards dressed in blues - Scotlands only Cavalry regiment. The next marching contingent in the scarlet and bear skins is the Scots Guards. I hope this helps?
Love the pipes and drums...hate that we have brass bands as well. But have to say; the best is watching the Dragoons having to march...that has to be humiliating 💋
@@VonDutch68 Please don't misunderstand; i have nothing against brass bands per se, like in an orchestra...i don't love them in a Scots military parade. It just doesn't sound...well Scottish. I, and this is merely my own opinion, i prefer pipes and drums. It simply sounds more martial to me...less english and more Scottish💋💋💋
Not at all lass. As Dragoons we are just as happy dismounted as mounted. We can bring greys to a parade when requested. But, we are honoured to represent our unit always regardless.
They use the modern short things because they are not toy soldiers. They are real, fully trained, soldiers and the modern short things are the rifles they use in actual combat. If you want make believe fantasy characters, watch Disney films.
One of the men we have in our ranks has two degrees and served in the British embassy in Washington. He fancied a change 🤷🏻♂️. I completed school and got some extremely good grades. But civilian life was a bit boring for me. There is - and please don't take this the wrong way - a very naive and dated view school drop outs join the armed forces. Yes. Some do. And what's the problem, if they're happy and enjoy a good career? Others - and I would argue in this day and age the majority - are extremely well educated. They make an educated decision to join the armed forces. And is it so wrong? The military does a lot - far more aid tasks than war fighting. And a lot of people remember this. Like during COVID, when people could isolate at home safe and secure, these men and women were out setting up centres. At risk. If people are COVID deniers they absolutely cannot deny the floods and other disasters that happen so often and the military gets called upon to help with. The strikes. Lol even the Olympics. People can and do join the military to make a change. Sometimes it's worth talking to the men and women who serve directly. Overall they're very approachable and you get to see a side that's not always portrayed about them.

The occupiers playing dress up 😅 here's a rather disturbing fact about their dress up-clothes, those tall look at me hat's are made by slaughtering 500 innocent black bears per year so these fols can wabder around tryung look special 😅😅😂😂
Also occupiers....the vast majority of those marching are Scottish. So...I mean what you said isn't inherently untrue. They ARE occupying...their homeland. I mean, would you rather they didn't? Lmao 😅😅😂😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
And while we're at it those 'Tall look at me hats' are part of history. They were 'look at me hats' you are quite correct. But in a way that you had to be over a certain height to even be a guardsman. The 'look at me' hat as you call it offered extra height to their impressive stance and thus was intimidating to opponents. But we don't call them 'look at me hats'. Rather we call them Bearskins. It is, after all, what they are. However I get the feeling you're not a big fan of the military or support the armed forces. Which always leads me to question ...why do you watch this and comment? I don't like F1. Can't really be bothered with football. I find gardening shows a bit slow and truthfully don't enjoy soap operas. Ahhh, the memories. I'd forgotten just how long that walk was. Great video. I love Edinburgh, such a rich history.
Nothing gives you a shiver as much as the pipes and drums. Beautiful and inspiring!
Good old Scotland tradition can’t beat it well done from down under🎶👌
Congratulations on your video. I find it uplifting to llisten and watch our lads and lassies on parade. Scotland at its finest.
Very nicely done! The pipe major had the walk of a warrior...as did the Pipes... Very smart! Well done, all! 3x Cheers from far away!

Watching & listening gives me great joy with tears. I am in the Southern California Desert. Bless all on planet Earth & Scotland.
….and in London and Windsor 🤷🏻
Who 's the lonely laddy in the Rolls?
Truly inspiring....I really miss the auld sod
What unit is it in black and gold with spurs; a cavalry unit seems likely, no?
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. Often referred to as, "The Greys", from times past when they rode grey horses. Nowadays, of course, they ride various kinds of armoured fighting vehicles according to the task at hand.
Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, or scots greys yes a cavalry regiment..

Which units are those?

Interesting to note that the drum major is wearing the trousers that we wore as officers in the now defunct Wits rifles regiment in South Africa

Only in Scotland? Talking outya arse. Happens in London all the time.
Nope definitely not a march through Edinburgh happening in London all the time.
Bet most of them wish they had stuck in at school......bit sad really.
