In 1994 I took my mother from Canada to the Edinburgh Tattoo. Her ancestors came from Orkney. There I was pushing my mom’s wheelchair up the Royal Mile. She had lost a leg to diabetes. A young police woman got a couple of lads to help me. Sitting in the stands I glanced at my mom and she had tears running down her face; we enjoyed every minute. The massed pipes and drums were amazing. The whole evening made priceless memories for my mom and me. 🏴 🇨🇦
This Canadian mum would love to have her daughter do that for her too. Unfortunately this is the closest I’ll be getting to Edinburgh. But it’s a wonderful sight and sound no less. You’re a dear daughter, Karen.

My Mother and her sister and brother were born in Dumbarton Scotland. My mom was the eldest and when she passed I had pipes played at her funeral outside of the church. The pastor did not approve of them in the church. At the grave side, I requested the Highland Call to War (Scotland the Brave) and Amazing Grace for the final salute and honor to her. My uncle a veteran of WW2 often reminded the family of the names the Scotch fighters who served with the troops. These fighters were known as “ The Ladies From Hell”. Long live the Scottish and the Highland Call to War. Amen

They fell completely in love with Scotland! My Dad was a very strong man as he was a blacksmith. He was stunned by the fact that he could hardly lift one of their swords. 🗡️
Being at this one was electrifying and magical. I had recently lost my dad (Military) and a friend paid for me and her dad to go as a surprise. What an experience. Thank you all for the hard work that goes in to it. ❤️🌹

I grew up in Edinburgh and my Mum, Dad and a few friends were going to the Tattoo. I was probably about 7 or 8. Gran was to look after us. I was just getting in to bed and my Dad comes in, "Do you want to go to the Tattoo? Put on as many warm clothes as you can". Being young I put on two pairs of trousers about three jumpers and a coat, hat and gloves (I lived in Scotland. Even at a young age, if someone says it's going to be cold then you know the thing is real). This was in the early 80's and if I had had a space suit then it would have been the best option. Whoever designed the seating was either a sadist or didn't know what the wind is like in Edinburgh. It blows under your legs I've said to people who were in a bad way before, " At least your not stood in an Edinburgh bus-stop in February". It was probably the most magical thing I have ever seen as a child. The castle, the sound, the smell of gunpowder, the fireworks and cheering and the crowd carrying you along and all good natured and happy smiles.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I’ve always loved the pipes and drums, since seeing it on TV as a child, of all things a advertisement for Dewars! After that I recall seeing several movies with Scots in them. I put going to Scotland on my bucket list even before I knew what a bucket list was and we went in 2019, just before COVID arrived. Thank God that we were able to go. Edinburgh and the Castle were amazing. Next on the list is to experience the Tattoo. I already own 8 kilts and love wearing them on hikes and such. If I could I’d retire to the highlands in Scotland.
I have to admit this brings a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes, the pipes and drums are a wonderful sound and the sight of such impeccable military precision incredible
The Edinburgh Tattoo is one of my favorite memories of my trip to Scotland in 2019. Seemed like it was all over in 5 minutes, the time flew by! Absolutely amazing! Helped inspire me to join a band and I have not looked back since!
I am of Clan MacGregor and Clan Murray ancestry and I can tell you, it does something to me when I hear the pipes. I can remember well the pipes at my Grandpa Murray`s funeral. Awsome!
I hope you don't mind me saying that my great grandfather (Scott's soldier) played his pipes in WW1 in Belgium & his son (my grandfather)played the same pipes when he served in new guinea in ww2..... From The Mackenzie clan here.🇭🇲 God bless to your family & your grandpa & condolences.
My dad was in the Seaforth Highlanders in WWII. He told me has never seen harder men than Scotsmen. I have a lot of respect for Scotland. I pray that Scotland and the rest of the UK can retain our identities. I know we have our differences but please God I pray our countries can keep the identities and cultures you granted us. 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️🏴
Was there in 2012. The way the massed pipes and drums appeared half way up the esplanade out of the dark, playing Highland Cathedral was spine tingling.

One of the best sounds around. Been lucky enough to go to the Tattoo and the volume is unreal. Makes the hairs on the back of your neck and arms stand on end, even watching it now. Love that tight drumming and they look proper dapper in uniform.. Hampen Park and Murrayfield singing Flower of Scotland is something to behold as well when Scotland are playing in the football and rugby. Think the rugby boys and girls edge the football crowd just a wee bit.
Do you know that the most of the time it's a Scottish regiment that goes into the battle first and the Scottish soldiers are the best soldiers ever in the British army, but that's my opinion anyway a hope someone will agree with me on this one please reply if you do thanks
Many years ago heard the Indian Army on Parade march and play the pipes and drums! It is great that history is being kept alive for future generations!
I don't know if I agree with you because all I know is I absolutely love Pipes and Drums I have never seen them in battle personally but I have 52 percent of Celtic UK in my blood
Outstanding! This is the most amazing footage of the massed Pipes & Drums & the Edinburgh Tattoo that I have ever seen! It felt like we were right there amongst the Pipes & Drums! Whoever filmed & recorded this spectacular Tattoo did a phenomenal job! Also, the Pipers & Drummers were outstanding, along with the magnificent Edinburgh Castle in the background! It was totally thrilling! Thank you for sharing this captivating experience! Brilliant!
Oh what I wouldn't give to see this in person! Saw the tattoo/massed bands at Stone Mountain, GA back in the 90s which was a thrill but, oh, to be in Edinburgh!
Whenever I listen to the pipes and drums, I'm moved to tears. I love them. I grew up in the mountains of Tyrol, far away from Scotland . However, there are some similarities between those two tough peoples.
As a true scot we will always stand side by side with anyone who needs our help, But god help you if you turn against us, as we will fight till the last man and woman to defend what is right.. . GO IN PEACE..
I was in the scots guards, I am married to a Scottish lady, and love Scotland and the pipes, their is no Scottish blood in my body but love everything about the fair country
I have Scots blood coursing through my veins (Samford). Even though I live in the North American Midwest and my Ancestors came from Scotland well over a century ago, whenever I hear the skirl of the pipes, a chill goes up my spine, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and, sometimes, a tear comes to my eye. There must be a genetic component to this. I hope someday to visit Scotland and especially Edinburgh.
A wonderful sound never heard by me in South Africa any more. Oh how marvelous to have this amazing reminder of what used to be. How I miss the pride we citizens had in our country! Thank you for this reminder of what used to be.
Completely amazing. I'm American and love the perfection. Percussion guard to tell you to pay attention, and a bagpipe guard to tell the story. Love it. Thank you. Watched this many times. Live, is on my bucket list.
Being of multiple heritage, (Japanese, German, Irish, Scot, and Apache), I've always been fascinated by the sound of bagpipes. And Scotland the Brave is my favorite.
One of my earliest memories is Green Ants and having a Army Camp for a back yard, but the pipes is in my soul. Every time i hear the pipes i am take back to what I am not sure, but taken I am.

Jesus Christ why does this move me so much

This is the type of sound that moves your body and soul and makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end
Awesome....,just, awesome....will never get too see in person but awesome
I have Scots blood coursing through my veins (Samford). Even though I live in the North American Midwest and my Ancestors came from Scotland well over a century ago, whenever I hear the skirl of the pipes, a chill goes up my spine, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and, sometimes, a tear comes to my eye. There must be a genetic component to this. I hope someday to visit Scotland and especially Edinburgh.
of course there is a genetic component, the pipes stir the soul

Being of multiple heritage, (Japanese, German, Irish, Scot, and Apache), I've always been fascinated by the sound of bagpipes. And Scotland the Brave is my favorite.
