    They're just overfilled - easy to fix. 160 for 23-25mins. I make these and pipe some jam/buttercream/ganache etc into the centre. Then frost with whatever you like. Perfect every time, good luck on the second try 😊

    I used to make these for parties and Girl Scout events. I filled cupcake liners with batter, then stick the cone, upside down, on top of them. The paper held the cone pretty well, and the cupcake rises enough to grip the cone. Peel off the paper when ready to frost, and round them off with frosting. The cone doesn't get as soggy, and it looks more like a cone. Great video!

    Love it when a content creator will admit a failure was a failure…save the rest of us the trouble. It’s so rare to see but coming from an academic background-it’s important to remember that even a failed experiment still “advances the field”…failure can help us know what not to do, so we can spend our time on things that might work.     So often you only see people's successful experiments. I absolutely love that you've shared a fail with us. Just because it didn't turn out in the end doesn't mean it wasn't fun along the way and it's okay if things aren't perfect in the end. :)

    Trick to doing this is to tap the batter all the way down and knock out the excess air bubbles.

    Hey man. You need to try to make cake pops worth the cones. That would totally work. That way you don’t have to bake the cone and you can decorate the top how you want. It’s look like an ice cream cone!!

    Maybe a piping bag would be better so you can get the batter in the handle and then when it expands it comes up instead of over. Lmk if that works out plz!

    Maybe you should try making cake pop dough! And then fill the cones with that like a no bake version? They’d even be good warmed up a little bit. The dough is so easy to form and could be really cute and delicious 😋

    place a vanilla wafer in the bottom before adding cake mix, not too much cake mix tho. they won’t
    be so soggy!

    I feel like using Wafer cones is probably just gonna soak up a lot of moisture from the batter. Maybe try those sugar waffle cones those might stay crunchy after baking.

    I made ice cream cone cupcakes yesterday for Church. I used a unicorn cake mix and added unicorn baking chips. I filled the cones two thirds full with cake batter and they came out great. The kids love them.

    My used to make this for my birthdays for school, but with strawberry cake mix because that was my favorite. I always remember it being super awesome, but I also was a kid who didn't know better

    idea would cooking the cake first till near done then take them out put them in the cone and finish baking. you could also try making a waffle cone also if your baking them already

    You mentioned the cones being dry, might be odd, but have you considered jelly/jam? Layered in with the cake I mean. Or filled less with a scoop of ice cream on top?
    Not sure if it'd work the best, but since you're experimenting anyways it could be neat to try.

    When I was in elementary school one boys mom used to make these
    She filled the bottom of the cone with pudding
    She baked the cupcakes separate and just nestled them on the pudding, then frosted and sprinkles
