I could EASILY live in that home. I lived in an apartment that was a bit smaller, but was so well laid out that it seemed huge yet cozy. This was stunning.
I love that it is all on one floor! I am 65 years old and beginning to have a harder time getting around. I want to downsize, but it has to be all on one, single floor. I can't have a loft, because I can't reach it. This house is perfect!
65 is not old. I am 68 and can go up and down things with no problem. Keep moving your body and excercise. Walk or go swimming. Cheap to do. But if one leads a sedentary life and does not get out and about and moving then they will have joint problems. Greetings from Switzerland.
I just turned 46 and I think about stuff like that already. Taking for granted that I will make it to the age you have, but I think like you. God willing I'll make it, and beyond in good health.
I've seen a lot of designs and videos of small homes. Without a doubt, this takes the cake. Light, airy, comfortable, spacious and hip. Congratulations on a job well done!
I built a 650 square foot house very similar to this last year. My builder did a lot of the same things. Our design is a bit different, but we also used high ceilings and lots of natural light, a split heat pump and exterior wrapping insulation. I absolutely love my new place and it’s more liveable than my previous house, which was 1050 square feet. My new house is smaller, but feels the same size because we designed it so well. I highly recommend this type of downsizing if you don’t have kids or a big family. It’s a beautiful and cost effective way to live.
You're so lucky to have been able to design your own home 😊 .... I don't like my duplex layout at all and never, NEVER, use my huge living room, LOL. BUT I'm AlwAys squashing myself into my tiny kitchen. Heheh, yikes!!
Even if you have kids downsizing is great 👍. I hve two kids, and we live in small apartment 60m2 , and its fine. Costs are minimal we are cozy and connected for now its functioning really well
Milica Lukic I think you are right. There is a lot to be said for having a smaller home with children, especially young ones. We raised our two children in a 3600 sq ft home, and it takes a lot of time away from being able to spend with them in maintenance. You definitely need help to maintain a larger home so that the children get the attention they need. Also it is easier to teach them that materialism is not important in life. We made a concerted effort to teach our that relationships, spirituality and helping others are the most important things they should focus on. A smaller home makes that a bit easier though. (I’m definitely blessed that my children, now young adults turned out to be good, caring, altruistic people!). If I had it to do again, I would recommend a small, well planned home. 💜🙏🏻👼🏻✝️😇
Well done! The raised ceiling makes a huge difference. The simplicity, cleanliness, open-airy white walls, and natural wood treatments make this a lovely paradise. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Wow!, I have been watching small houses ,tiny houses looking for what I have in mind for my new home and this is exactly what I was picturing as my dream tiny home. love it thank you
OMG I can't believe I clicked on this. I'm your former neighbor that just sold last year in the green house on the corner with the 3 little boys! EPIC!
I really like that! The wood is beautiful! The french doors are perfect. The kitchen has lots of useable counter and storage space, unlike mine...thanks for the video!
Now that is a great use of 700 SF! In fact, that's the "biggest" 700 SF small house I think I've ever seen (and I've seen a LOT of small home vids and articles). Beautiful furnishings & light, beautiful surroundings too. Puts my 850 SF apt. to shame!
Awesome job on this home!!! Green building is so much more healthy and energy efficient. I lived in a green apartment on the North Coast in CA where it's really rainy and it was amazing. I also worked in home improvement retail stores and learned from many customers that their houses were an expensive "money pit" that costs them tons of headaches and time. No thanks.
Like your videos beautiful idea. I love and appreciate all your work. I have always want an older home from the 1950's. Just a dream , but a beautiful 💓 one. Happy for you.
Wow this place is beautiful! It does seem larger than it probably is!! I have maybe 200 more square feet of house then this and I feel like I am cramped up!! Well, I am in the process of downsizing from my 3 floor 4 bedroom house with a basement into a 918 square foot house and have mostly everything in my tiny house. I really really need to learn how to make the most with the least. Kudos to all of you who are able to live the tiny house lifestyle!! Please please teach me!! ♥️😅
I was really inspired after watching Marie Kondo's "Tidying Up" show on Netflix! Also if you're having trouble totally getting rid of some stuff right awat, you can pack it into totes and move it into storage. Anything you don't miss or touch after 3-6months can be donated/sold!
Looks great - don’t know how you can call that an apartment size kitchen, looks house size to me, yours must’ve been gigantic! Great job with the word features!
@@sharonwilliams5757 I agree it's expensive. An extra bedroom or two, would cushion the blow. It's not meant for a family of 3 or more. The expense comes in the HVAC system and the reclaimed wood, but if it were off the grid, that would've been awesome. It's eco-friendly, and will save them money down the road. One bedroom houses are scarce, and hard to sell, but this is great for a couple that has no kids or regular overnight guests.
This is a very nice liking little house. I cant really say it looks Tiny it actually looks quite big definately looks good i could totally live in that
I live in a 412 sq. ft. apartment, so 700 sq. ft. would be a huge upgrade. The $230,000 price is just right, but finding property would be challenging.
This is absolutely beautiful. I would imagine the cost of this house is going to cost way more than a regular beautiful house in the suburban area of Cincinnati. If we could get a cost that would be great.

is good to see that the city there allows people to build a second home in the back of their house...it is smart too, because if they rent the big house the city will gain in taxes....Unfortunately, not every city council gets people so smart as in this case.
It's not always possible though. With row houses for example, it would be dangerous because firefighters wouldn't be able to bring their trucks to the second house. So if the house burned, there’d be no way to reach it as easily as the first house. And even if there’s a back alley, often a firefighter truck is too big for it, or in the case of the city I live in, most back alleys are not plowed during the winter so it makes them inaccessible half of the year. Anyway, sorry to bother you with all of that, but I work for the urban planning department of my city and this is something that’s been considered at one point here. Didn’t work out in the end as you have probably guessed.

What was the total cost for the build? It's not anywhere in the linked article.
contractor has added info in comment section of article

I got a 14x42 cabin that I'm converting into a small house, one bedroom and one bathroom, no loft. You can do it.
My own thoughts exactly!
I just turned 46 and I think about stuff like that already. Taking for granted that I will make it to the age you have, but I think like you. God willing I'll make it, and beyond in good health.
A house with a loft is not practical for most people. Which is why this house is pretty good. And a senior citizen can still be active.

These are great videos. But it would be nice to see a dollar amount in cost.
It's Seattle. Whatever price you're thinking times ten.
230k to build with Targa Homes
Would vary greatly depending on location
Beautiful home and I love the reclaimed cladding and enclosed outside space.
Wow, what a beautiful home. I think it’s perfect. Wouldn’t change a thing. I want one!
I love the diamond piers idea instead of using foundation, that's awesome

give this man all the business. Everyone could have their own cozy home with lots of green spaces all around. Why would anyone want anything else.
On the builder’s profile (Targa Homes), it says that the typical job costs between $225k - $350k.
😒😓😭

Not much less than a full size house.

How do you'll charge for Utility when renting out the main house and what's you're utility cost while living in the tiny home?
This would be pretty much my ideal house for 2 person living situation
Beautiful space :) How did you find Sean?
Oh I want one too!
I want one !

I love this house

Is there a measured floor plan available?
Yes! www.targahomes.com/product-page/the-wattage-cottage-guidebook
In Mumbai ... 700 sq ft is real estate heaven
It would’ve been nice if someone would’ve mentioned the cost. Even if it varies from region to region it would still be a reference point.
