Howdy! Kansas storm chaser here. Most of the extra chasers in the movie are legit. I’ve seen their vehicles out chasing before! The actors even spent time storm chasing with scientists before filming. The intro scene is loosely based on a real experience in 2013 with a two-mile-wide tornado; 3 veteran chasers perished. It’s not that Kate and her friends misread the storm, but more that storms are unpredictable - tornadoes have a mind of their own, so to speak.
It was the TwistX(?) team, lead by Tim Samaris. I used to watch the Storm Chasers show all the time and remember when the team was hit in El Reno. Their vehicle was demolished in that incident. Very sad.
I went to the theaters to watch this movie and im from arkansas. Lets just say... when the arkansas storm chasers first appear, that theater felt reallll patriotic
When it comes to tornados, they can intensify at random. Currently the most we can do is detect the probability of one actually forming. How strong it will be is never truly known until after it's come and gone. That's why the F or EF scale is determined based on the damage that the tornado does. You look into documentaries on previous tornado strikes and they will tell you how fast a tornado can turn from a tiny little rope to a giant mile wide monstrosity.
7:21 It been debunked that being under an overpass is definitely where you DO NOT want to be during a Tornado. All that wind passing under increases in velocity. In Layman's Terms it's the equivalent of being inside a vaccum hose Which is why Jeb never had a chance its a miracle that even she survived.
Yeah I think its called the Bernoulli Principle or something like that? Due to the curve the air pulls through under an overpass it causes air pressure to drop the closer you are to the surfaces below an overpass. Where as wind pressure lowers under the overpass, wind pressure rises above it with slower wind speeds at the top. Turning it into a giant wind tunnel basically. And as the wind pressure goes down the wind speeds rapidly increase. The tornado in the film was at or around 220~250 mph, but under the overpass hugging against that wall, she could have been getting hit by low pressure high speed winds either just below or above 300~ish mph. (Around 428~ km/h for the metric folks out there.) Honestly, it would probably be much safer to find a ditch and get as low as you can to the ground. And for the love of life *KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN* if this ever does happen to you. If you let the air flow get below you, again Bernoulli's principle will take effect on *YOU* and rip you up into the skies.
In early development, they were talking about casting Helen Hunt as Kate’s mother, but the director though Jo would still be chasing even at 60 some years old. She wouldn’t be waiting on a farm for her daughter to return. The role eventually went to Maura Tierney and Kate was written as having no connection to Jo.
I saw this movie with my sister a few weeks ago. I was aware Glen Powell existed but hadn't seen anything with him in it, but my sister had and she's developed something of a love/hate crush on him. Apparently he's really good at playing characters that start out as jerkwads but get pulled around to making you like them and she hates that. XD
I saw this twice, I loved that it felt original, even as a sequel. There were so many story and movie beats where the moviemakers made the better choice and avoided the cliche
I have some movie suggestions: - Apollo 13 (1995) - Legends of the Fall (1994) - Balto (1995) - Young Woman and the Sea (2024) - How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy (2010-2019) - 1917 (2019) - Bottoms (2023) - Booksmart (2019) - Team America World Police (2004) - Last of the Mohicans (1992)
The 200 mph wasn't the tornado's forward speed, it was its speed of rotation. Tornadoes can travel anywhere from 5 mph all they way up to 80. While its not recommended to get in your car to get away from one, if you are already in a vehicle it is possible to drive away to safety but it all depends one the tornado's speed, direction, your proximity to it and if you have a reliable road network. Not to mention people don't always make the best decisions while stressed and panicking. Also there a lot of chaser who actually do livestream on UA-cam
Hey, I absolutely love your videos Clariss! And I looove this movie!!! I very highly recommend you react to Society of the Snow! It’s a Spanish film about the 1972 Andes mountain plane crash. I recommend keeping a box of tissues on hand, cause it’s a very heavy film.
First of all Bill Paxton's character was against the money side of it, in fact he says Jonah's group was in it for the money, not the science. Second, Glenn Powell is from Texas, his accent might be a little exaggerated, but not by much.
Hi Clariss and your tim 😊 ☺ I'm so happy to see both of your reaction to twisters🌪🌪🌪 I even saw your reaction with Tim on his channel 2. You gotta check out Luke combs's new song for this movie call Ain't no love in Oklahoma🎶❤🛻, it was played when the Red truck appears !!
Mostly non-televised, live or multi-media projects, like plays, short films, multi-media projects and background work. In short, I have received acting work in projects that are NOT movies or television.
dammit tim tim: getting ready to get sucked XD that's no pg XD me: that's what she said lol XD kidding kidding so i'm gonna be honest and people may have their opinion but i'm not vibing with the Tyler Owens Kate relationship it kinda feels forced where as with bill and jo you felt there was still chemistry there i honestly think Javi and Kate should have gotten together 48:35 i will note Nature obviously disagrees with me Tyler and Kate Shall be together XD
Hey guys. Sorry to hear that you’ll be moving to a new location but as the saying goes, “One door closes, another opens”. Therefore, I hope you two find what you’re looking for. All seriousness aside, this move was something else. I was kind of bummed out that the only callback to the original was Dorothy and not a single person from the original cast, mainly because they either passed away like Phillip-Seymour Hoffman and Bill Paxton or the circumstances wasn’t in their favor. However, it’s good to see that the next generation are finishing what they stated and that is to prevent more lives from being taken by tornadoes. I agree, Glen Powell does have that smug expression every time. I once confused him with Scott Eastwood, another standard pretty boy actor. Can’t wait to see what the future will be store for you and Timothee. Godspeed
I'm a storm chaser - don't ever get out of your vehicle and don't take shelter underneath an underpass, lol. You only get out of your vehicle as a worst case scenario, your odds are much better to drive away from it, or go North/South or East/West to get out of its path. Infact in most states when there's a "tornado emergency" and you live in a RV Park, you're encouraged to get into your car and get out of the way of the storm because you're likely to not live.

The El Reno Tornado. It struck El Reno Oklahoma just 2 weeks after the Moore Tornado.
It was the largest EF5 Tornado ever recorded.
@@patrickmaldonado1313 It was actually an EF3

Hey Clariss, something to tell you and Tim, the part of Boyfriend complaining in Hotel That was Bill Paxton's son, it's true!!!! His son.
When they say 200 mph, that's not how fast the twister is traveling. That's the wind speed of the spinning air moving in the twister.
Easily was my favorite blockbuster of the summer. ❤ Saw this in 4DX and it was incredible.
Geez that opening scene was wild. I expected the boyfriend to die especially after they set it up. But geez basically the whole team was NUTS.
the custom 6 wheel drive truck was the best part of the whole movie especially when the F5 twister tried to suck it up
I don't think I've ever been more on the edge of my seat in the movie theater before. Great film!

Athe the end there was supposed to be a kiss, but Spielberg cut it before it happened.
Tornado wrangler 😂
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
This movie was perfectly suited for 4DX. I half expected people to start running into the theater during the final scene
Here in Iowa, our sirens go off the first Saturday of every month! 🚨 📢
If you feel it.
CHASE IT!! 🤠🌪️
CHASE IT!
Glen Powell does cocky charm very well😉

Idk I think there'd be some broken records if they made Olympians run away from storms
Maaaaan... so many reactors skip the ending...
Am I the only one wondering how he ended up the love interest when he should have been arrested for stalking? How did he even know where she lives?
