Micheal McDonald's voice was amazing!!! He never struggled to get the sound out, it just flowed out! Dude is a natural. One of history's best voices!!!
Do me a favor and watch the music video of him and Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines from the making of Running Scared - it's so fabulous to watch them be a little silly. And yet that voice NEVER quit. Wait, I'll post the link for you. jh
I used to put on my headphones on in my room as a teenager and play the Doobie Brothers all night on my record player. Michael McDonald is the man with that killer voice and the harmonizing of the whole band is awesome. I bet they could play with blindfolds on and still sound this good. One of my favorite bands of all time.
Went to see Chicago with Earth, Wind and Fire when all of a sudden Michael McDonald walked onstage to open for them. The place went crazy!!! Michael, you still got it!❤️
Just remember people, we are all lucky enough to have been living in the time of Marvin, Aretha ,Stevie, Michael, Roberta and Donny, Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald!
God, this is so incredibly good. There is no one like Michael McDonald. Love this song and this video. Nothing today comes close to this kind of soulfulness.

When I want to remember the ecstasy of my once in a life time soul mate, I listen to this song. We didn’t have much time, 4yrs. We ran out of time, the end was coming for him. He told me he didn’t want to leave me and his only wish was to be able to take me with him because he knew how painful it was going to be for me. It was a gozillion times worse than I imagined. It took 5 yrs before I could even listen to any music at all. I started with this and a deep peace came over me, I knew HE was listening to it with me. It keeps me running until my time is up, I cannot wait to see my beloved soul mate again. Michael McDonalds voice is a gift from God and it touches your soul. 👵🏻❤️✌️
One of my favorites! Love the lyric: “I know what it means to hide your heart from a long time ago.” So deep, so profound because those of us who relate, work hard to keep this hurt deep and hidden so it does not stir us. I believe, you Michael McDonald, know such pain. And it makes me feel close to you somehow. Still love you after all these years.
My friend, Robert Hall, had one 8 track in his car..one..The Best of the Doobie Brothers. When it wore out he simply bought another, put it in, and left it running...

A few years ago I saw Michael open for the band Toto. I'll make this simple, the music that night was magical. Music brilliance all across the stage. Michael McDonald added soul to The Doobie Brothers
White Chocolate, as the black ladies call him. First time I heard it I laughed my guts out...then realized what a perfect nickname it was.
Yes! That fits him (Michael)!!!
He has such deep roots in singing soulful R&B, romantic songs and popular songs. Many faceted musical genius!
it is shocking to me that he is only 25 years old here and is as refined as he is
